I mentioned this last thread, but there were two points when I was reading this for the first time where I had to close my laptop and just stare at the wall for a couple minutes.

The first was when Luthor caused all of his artificial metahumans to fall out of the sky.

The second was Sobek's reveal.

Have you read the modern Johns run of JSA? It developed into a team that trained and involved a lot of younger heroes, particularly those who were stepping into the shoes of old legacies.Their existence already shows the potential in the new generation, this just shows that the people Luthor picked for the project were doing it for the wrong reasons in the first place.

Black Adam is a warrior king from Ancient Egypt who's just lost everything he ever loved...AGAIN.

He's not holding back, he's not fighting to subdue, he's not concerned with the safety of his allies (because he doesn't have any), and he's not some modern day decadent (from the perspective of an ancient times person) soft "fighter".

So yeah, it actually makes sense if you think about it. Restraint goes a long way in making you considerably less dangerous than you'd be otherwise.

Ralph tricked Felix Faust into a trap designed to not only fuck him over, but the bait Neron into coming to Earth and killing him, therefore binding them both in the same spell that they can't escape now that he's dead.

Ultimately, like how an anon said earlier, the whole thing is still a suicide attempt, but it's a very, very elaborate one intended to also take out A.) a villain who tried to take advantage of Dibny at his weakest, and B.) one of the bigshots of hell just because he fucking can.
