What do I do when I run out of issues?

I like to think Vader's mindset during the Empire is initially tons of doubt in Palpatine and possibly Anakin coming out every now and then when he starts thinking about finding Yoda and restarting the Jedi. This changes though over time because Sheev starts teaching Vader more about the Sith and Vader starts wanting to kill Sheev. Initially he would be using the excuse that he could kill him and then remake the Jedi but over time his true anger towards Sheev leads him to wanting to kill him to fulfill the rule of two. Over the years he becomes more angry towards Sheev but also fearful because he understands that there's no way he can possibly kill him in his condition so he's essentially Sheev's slave. But Sheev abuses this and uses Vader's anger and sorrow to power himself as a sort of rule of one. That along with his abuse of midichlorians and technology shows that even the Sith are losing their way now.

And all of this makes pottery with the prequels where initially Anakin didn't want to be a Jedi in the comics but over time he ended up being a kind of acceptable Jedi until some event happened (his son) and he turned Sith. And while all of this is happening Anakin's order is changing into something it's not until it's finally destroyed. To be honest if you want to know what happened to Kylo and Luke's Jedi Academy you should probably look at the OT and PT because it will probably rhyme with them in many ways.

You're right on the money. The New canon has this mindset especially Tarkin, Lords of the Sith and the Vader comics. Palpatine detects flashes of the lightside within Vader many times in Tarkin. And the Vader comics state that Vader is fed up with Sidious because he knows what he really is and Sidious and the Sith have kinda lost their way. Palpatine has become too complacent without the Jedi challenging him and its made him sloppy.

Also, I love how Vader calls out Sheev in the Vader comics when he "succeeds" killing his successors.

Given how despite his verbal protests he just did whatever Owen and Beru asked him too, him bailing on a whim is taking a huge liberty with the character as he's been presented, unless this is some sort of kernal of information we're supposed to take with us into ep VIII as to why he vanished when the galaxy needed him instead of sticking around to help the Republic after the Kylo Ren betrayal.

Fuck I just thought of an awesome ending to Episode 2 that would be better than the one we got.

Ep 3 could then play on the way his new appearance strains his relationship with Padme, and showing Anakin to be disfigured but still of noble bearing. Shows a more human side to the characters rather than a plot device to make Luke and Leia exist.
Also gradually descends into the Vader body, rather than just be all prettyboy until the end of ep 3, where it all happens at once.

True, but we'd never had a main character whose story revolved around their defection. Of the characters that are defectors, none of them are even identified as such on-screen, much less have a story revolving around it (if they have a story at all). Even Biggs is a borderline case because the only way the audience would know he was Imperial is if they watched the deleted scene. Even Luke's allusion to Biggs and Tank going to the Academy barely counts.

We have more details about the Battlefront DLC that might interest you.

One of the maps in the Battlefront Bespin DLC is called "Bioniip Laboratories", and is based on a location previously only mentioned in "Galaxy Guide 2: Yavin and Bespin", a Legends companion guide to the old role playing game. They described the map as a "step into Legends", so I don't believe this is an official/approved canonization, but it's something interesting and worth sharing.

Also, the Royal Guards are confirmed to be replacing the Shock Troopers as Sheev's guards, while the Shock Troopers are being added as part of the regular customization options. The Royal Guards don't appear to play any differently.

The DLC will also come with an extra 5th map, although I think that's just the Fighter Squadron one.

There's a live stream tomorrow revealing more stuff.

Events are always ridiculously cheap. The Yoda one is absolute bullshit and I don't know anyone who kept going with it after unlocking him.

Even in regular challenges, the opponent has the unfair advantage of being able to get a bonus turn if they kill someone on your team. If they're strong enough and your team is close enough to death, that means they can wipe everyone out immediately. It's fucking annoying.

Aftermath, though... ugh. Don't bother. It reads like a 17 year old's first attempt at serious fiction and it's all written in very awkward present-tense and filled with characters that the author has a hard time making you as a reader care about. The author himself is a piece of shit too.

If you're willing to let yourself get mad, Dark Disciple may be worth your time. Half of it's pretty good, half of it is ridiculously, almost hilariously stupid. If you're a big Ventress fan it'll be infuriating. If you go into it knowing it gets really dumb, you might enjoy yourself.

Bloodline is great. I consider it to be the most important canon book to read as it addresses some pretty big questions and is written well. The other book from Bloodline's author, Lost Stars, is a title that I'd also recommend. While it does show its stripes as a YA book at times, it does a spectacular job of providing depth to both sides of the OT conflict and like Bloodline, is one the best canon additions.

Aftermath, unless you're really keen on going through the entire canon, is a book that I'd recommend skipping. It's pretty poorly written, and doesn't really expand on or explore the canon in any ambitious or interesting way.

I read through the the Art of Star Wars the Force Awakens, and the book all but says that they ended up dropping like 90% of what they were planning at the 11th hour because they didn't have the story locked down even after so much pre-visualization. Kylo's mask wasn't finalized until a few months before filming.

For his faults, if Abrams hadn't focused the movie the whole project could have gone off course like what seems to have happened with Rogue One.

I think time will show Episode VII had to wear a lot of hats, and was burdened by the weight of impossible expectations that Abrams was very prescient to nimbly sidestep the issue by having a straightforward story that endcapped Han Solo's arc while setting up the other characters and resetting the status quo of the galaxy

The interesting premise of internal Imperial strife is realized as a dully as possible, the prose is shit, the plot is mediocre dipping momentarily into extraordinarily awful whenever Wendig gets characters out of trouble in the laziest way possible, and the characters that the book spends time with are either boring, severely flawed, or DeviantArt OCs.

It's still in third person, just present tense. So far example instead of "Wedge went outside" it says "Wedge goes outside." It's a bit awkward, but you do get used to it.

What you don't get used to is that the book is just very poorly written overall. None of the characters are compelling, none of the events are made to seem particularly exciting and the only parts that are genuinely interesting are the side stories between chapters that flesh out the setting and how different people and factions are dealing with the crumbling Empire.

The prose itself is also really awkward, like Wendig probably thinks it's clever but it's just tedious. The book is just a chore to read.
