I wouldn't think so, I think Mir just does the animation. The credits... credit Audio Circus and Atlas Oceanic Sound and Picture for the sound work. Though, the decision to use certain sound effects likely came from somewhere else. Probably the American heads, given their history.

An interesting thing to note is that both Dreamworks Animation and Studio Mir did CGI work for the show. It'd be interesting to see who did what and how closely they worked together.

Anyway, that's a bit different. So far, only the Red Blue Lions have shown off any real special intrinsic powers. Yellow is STRONK, but that's not as visually impressive. Green can go invisible, but that was added in. Black is supposedly the best combat-wise, but we've only really seen a mouth dagger that I think the Red one has shown too.

On top of the Red Lion's melting beam, it also got a huge back cannon in the finale. One assumes the other Lions can also manifest special weapons besides just shooting a different beam out of their mouths. The other Lions could really use some combat focus.

In fact, since Netflix has access to all the metrics, they can even tell how long people paused, how many times they watched an episode, whether they dropped mid episode, whether they watched all the episodes (and specifically who didn't watch them all), and even whether the people who reviewed it watched all of it. Meanwhile The CW renewed every single show they have, and debuted a few new ones to boot.

There's been a bunch of fascinating articles about the CW's business acumen in the wake of their blanket renewal of everything. Their shows all have small but very vocal fanbases, so even if they don't have the best numbers the word-of-mouth keeps everything alive. Their shows basically attract insane fanboys/girls and that's why all their stuff sticks around.

The CW actually found a way to use online fanbases to keep their shows around, they become the "genre show" channel and it's been doing the best business for the channel possible. Pure numbers of viewers watching aren't the biggest metric anymore.

Don't know about the general consensus, but I know I'll keep watching, if for nothing else than the character designs.

The show certainly isn't going to push any standards for quality writing. It is keeping it simple with plots that resolve quickly, the most basic dialogue needed, and stuff that it just makes up on the spot whenever it is convenient. Much like cartoons from the time of the original Voltron.

Even then, I think it got a little better about that after the first couple of episodes.

american remakes of originally merely-dubbed things are so weird. it's weird enough when you have american (or more often british) sequels to japanese games, especially if the japanese series picks up again later, but it's REALLY odd when you make a totally new tv show based on the story of an adaptation. speed racer comes to mind, it's had more than a few.. the most recent being the equivalent of 'superman returns' being definitely a direct sequel to an adaptation, trying to look like "it's more of that, it's the past again, really!"
