Why are they emphasising "guy"?

First one says it in bold, second has it underlined.
The logical conclusion would be that they are saying

Yeah it would make much more sense if Zat was bolded. Bolding guy doesn't really make any sense in any context, since he's the first person to refer to him as a guy.

>>
>>83764830
There are yinglets capable of expert lute-playing.
They're a species of endless variety. Surely one has been born at some point of the past 100 years that can draw like Da Vinci. Doesn't mean he'd BE the next Da Vinci, he'd still be too busy laughing at farts to make anything of his talents.

>>

>TF fetish furry comic

>No idea why people are making threads for it.
>>
>>83770379
It's more about the character dealing with the effects of the transformation, than the transformation itself.

>No idea why people are making threads for it.

I like the premise and it's fairly well executed without getting too weird. The world and races in it are fairly interesting. It's cute, lighthearted, and funny. Those are the reasons I like it at least. If you know of a better webcomic exploring human-monster transformation and cultural relationships I'm open to suggestions.

Read the rest of the first sentence. TF is my jam, but this comic barely scratches the itch.

Pretty much! There's a huge amount of quality TF material out there, so I wanted to:
1. Focus on the daily life of a character after the change has happened, and
2. Tell a story that includes a TF element, but isn't completely defined by it, and focusing on telling a story first and foremost.

All in all though, you just gotta stick with what you enjoy, so read the things you wanna read, y'know?

From the anime fan-fiction community. Lemon was the term for hardcore, and Lime was the term for softcore.
>>
>>83774316
Ah.

Still wondering about the etymology, though... some Japanese transliteration, or possibly a loanword that got corrupted back into English?
>>
>>83774350

In the 90s there was an early mailing list for publishing erotic fanfiction. It was called 'The Lemon List'.

It was apparently named after 'Cream Lemon', which was a classic hentai anime series.

Hey man, if you kept reading past the cringe, then that's what I was hoping to accomplish with this balance of TF/other stuff in the comic's content! Glad to hear it's working, in some cases at least.

>>83776279
Sort of! I'm on a vague weekly-ish schedule, but I've decided to hold off advertising this thing until I can be sure I can get these posted on a set schedule. That, and give myself some time to tighten up some of the looser aspects of my current art style.

When I started this thing, I knew I had a hell of a lot of improvements to make, so I've been using the comic as a personal project to keep myself drawing regularly and improving. When I got in the mood to draw a comic, I figured I could either keep practicing for another year or two and maybe start drawing something "real" at that point, or fuck it, don't let this burst of motivation pass, just start drawing something already and see where it goes. Well, going with the latter option has turned out pretty well.

So while it's definitely come a long way, I know I've got some more work to do before I can personally feel comfortable with advertising it and/or making it Go Public.

...Which is one reason I'm surprised that people not only found it anyway, but also started posting threads about it!

Anyone save that one pic anon did? The one where Kass's hands are tied behind her back?
>>
>>83777586
Based on the clothing of the other Yinglets, Kass is oddly well-endowed.
>>
>>83786432
You know I'm still genuinely annoyed about that. Breasts are uniquely human, the only thing that comes close is some of the great apes kinda get boobs when actively nursing. It's about the one fetish element you can't really ignore.
I probably wouldn't even mind it so much except all the other world-building and biology is so well thought out that it just stands out.
>>
>>83787426
For all we know, yinglets are monotremes, which would sort of fit their quasi-mammal, quasi-reptile look and behaviour. Monotremes all have (admittedly, quite different from other mammals and each other) some sort of mammary system in them. That has been my working explanation for it anyway, but even then Kass is still the most well endowed monotreme and yinglet yet. This will likely be brought up by someone at some point, much to his annoyance and confusion. And we haven't even entered into the nature of yinglet "heats", but if they are indeed monotremes, oh boy is he in for some "terrible" times.

Actually... come to think of it, echnida and yinglets have no nipples, and echidnas have a similarly "spiky" tongues. I can't help but think, then, that they are some sort of weird monotreme.

Then again, I could be completely wrong and I'm just providing a post-facto justification to a fetish decision, which is what happens most often with fetish decisions.
>>
>>83787758
It's not nipples and teats that bother me those are just about the default for mammals (with the exception of some of the Monotremes which simply 'sweat' milk) even most marsupials have some sort of nipple(s) inside the pouch. It's the BREASTS, the large fatty deposits backing the nipples, that annoy me.
And now that I've typed this up I'm left wondering how multiple years spent learning university level biology has left me arguing about the secondary sexual characteristics of a fictional species. What am I doing with my life?
>>
>>83787924
Could the same logic behind human females having breasts apply to Yinglets?

Perhaps it's a display thing.
>>
>>83788013
Given that our current best guess as to why human females have breasts is that because humans evolved from a species that originally mated primarily from behind the breasts helped mimic the appearance of a butt/thighs only on the front of the body and yinglets do not have human like butts, probably not.
>>
>>83788013
Maybe breasts are a prerequisite/side effect to sentience/sapience in mammalian creatures.
>>
>>83788164
That sounds like a terrible best guess, much like the whole "pubic hair is there for babies to hang on to."
>>
>>83788164
What about this: Yinglets seem to be advancing by imitation whether they like it or not. This may also apply to their evolution (which, incidentally, is accelerated enough that I suspect some supernatural component).

The background materials already have humanlike hair as a recent development, perhaps humanoid breasts are similarly so? Something unnatural may be driving them to biologically mimic the most successful species (humanity) in a bid for survival and advancement. Perhaps the yinglet of a hundred years hence will look much more humanoid...
>>
>>83788260
Yeah I suppose I should just go with "it's magic" and stop worrying about it.

>>83788252
You'd be amazed and the weird shit that evolution produces and why. Also never heard the pubic hair one before, I have heard the theory about head hair being for babies to hold onto but my understanding was pubic hair was there for a bit of extra warmth/protection and to work kind of like a reed diffuser only for pheromones just like armpit hair.

Mammals do have fat deposits backing up their nipples, it is just that most mammals have multiple offspring that are of small size and don't stay dependent for a long time so they have multiple small tits. Humans on the other hand give birth to only one baby, sometimes two that are born relatively big but undeveloped so they stay dependent on the mother for nutrition for a long time. So humans got only two tits but they are much more developed. Also male attraction to breasts might be cultural. Some tribes never bother covering the tits and men don't give a fuck about them, ass on the other hand seems to be universal.

Inb4 this picture gives someone a boner and I get a ban because of that...
>>
>>83788361
Why does it sound like it's being murdered... all the time.
>>
>>83788392
I always presumed it was an adaptation to the mobile, and long term breastfeeding regime proto and early humans had to go through. Proximity to the mammary cells just makes sense if you need it to produce milk. Thus, larger breasts ensure a longer time between necessary pit stops.
>>
>>83788164
What? No, it's because babies don't have snouts. If a baby is pushed into a flat surface it would struggle to breath. Having a protruding nipple keeps the nose clear of being pressed against the body.
>>
>>83788736
All that fatty tissue does sweet FA in regards to milk production the actual glands take up only a fraction of that space.

>>83789187
Protruding nipple sure just look at the teats on an udder, but the giant fat deposit?
>>
>>83789282
That's what I meant sorry, I just woke up

Note that the nipple tends to be at the furthest point of the breast.

It has to do with humans nostrils pointing down instead of forward, unlike animals with snouts and most apes
>>
>>83789282
Not really, considering the body has to transform sugars into fats in order to be able to produce milk. If that process is disrupted, a mother stops producing milk unless there is another source. The amount of fat a woman has doesn't affect the amount of fat in the milk, or wherever more is produce, but a woman who cannot reprocess or acquire fat simply does not produce milk as it's the basis for the mammary glands to function.
>>
>>83789602
Well sure but there are many places on the body to store fat and seeing as fat metabolism all occurs in the same place there's no advantage to be gained by storing it next to where it will ultimately be used.
>>
>>83789282
If you ever cut open a human body you will find out that fat is everywhere. What do you have around the kidneys? Fat! Sole of feet/palm of hands? Fat! Inside adult bones? Fat!

>>83790113
>and seeing as fat metabolism all occurs in the same place
Incorrect, adipose tissue can produce fat from carbohydrates and it can be mobilized to be used on other tissues like for example mammary glands.

>>
>>83790332
>If you ever cut open a human body you will find out that fat is everywhere. What do you have around the kidneys? Fat! Sole of feet/palm of hands? Fat! Inside adult bones? Fat!
Exactly my point!
I'm not arguing that fat has no value or that there's no fat in non-human teats. What I am arguing is that the tissue being discussed in http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC2941079/ can be found in ALL mammals with teats and that it only makes up part of the human breast. That most of the fat in human breasts is just that regular fat that has nothing to do with the amount of milk produced and could just as easily be stored elsewhere on the body
I'm not arguing that the structure of the human breast does not have function just that it can be done in other ways and you don't find anything quite like it even among mammals who produce small number of young. Sure >>83788392
is big but think about it in terms of the entire elephant proportionally it's just not at all the same.
Yes there are all sorts of teats and udders among other mammals but my original point is still that the shape and structure of breasts is something that is pretty much unique to humans.

>has nothing to do with the amount of milk produced and could just as easily be stored elsewhere on the body
Why store it somewhere else? If you store it far away it will be used by other tissues before getting to the mammary glands. The circulatory system is not that specific to carry an item from point A and deliver exactly to point B, it will get dispersed all over the body if it is far away and the mammary glands are parts of the body using a considerable amount of fat so it needs a good supply.

It is like saying that you can store stuff in the garage so you don't need a wardrobe.

Also the fat pad is present on other mammals, it is just not always in the same shape.
>>
>>83791278
Ugh, it needed some commas...
>>
>>83791278
>Also the fat pad is present on other mammals, it is just not always in the same shape.
Again THIS IS THE POINT I'M TRYING TO MAKE.
Yes there is fat and the fat pad present on other mammals but in no other case do you find anything of the same proportional size and shape of the human breast.
And the fact still remains the amount of fat on the breast does not impact on milk production an A cup will produce just as much as a J.

>>
>>83791322
Unlike in fantasy worlds there aren't many bipedal mammals to begin with. Also in many fantasy worlds most humanoid species are sort of related to humans making half-something so common like half-elves/half-orc/half-dwarf/etc.

And take in account modern humans is not a good measure. We have access to way more nutrients than we need in contrast with wild animals so having extra-fat is unnecessary for modern humans but certainly wasn't for our ancestors

>>83791439
We are born without teeth.
>>
>>83791556
Um I'm genuinely confused what are you trying to say here? I'm arguing that it doesn't make any sense for the distinctly human breast structure to be present on an organism that while bipedal is clearly from a very different evolutionary tract. It would be kind of like expecting kangaroos to have breasts.

More like following the rules of a fantasy world. Some rules are magical while others are just a different logic. About intelligent races they seems more like a stretch of humans cultures with added exaggerated biological and anatomical differences to make them extra exotic.

Like how we have populations with average height of 1.5m and others of almost 2m so in a fantasy world we go to extremes putting them from 0.5m to 3m or even more.

>>
>>83792113
Well, it could have something to do with magic, frankly.

Keep in mind that Greater Yinglets appeared 'suddenly', with almost human levels of intelligence less than a gross years ago.

Alternatively, it's possible that the reason some of the females about 3/7 from what I've seen have noticeable breasts is because it is considered an attractive trait and thus they mate more. Natural selection et al. The Yinglets do have a pretty heavy fascination with particular body shapes and traits, shown by the preference of females shaving down their shell teeth, the tufts of fur some males stick to the tips of their tails etc

>>83792272
Maybe we can talk about black giantess superheroes who graduated from Cal Arts
>>
>>83792356
>I don't know why you guys are arguing design logic when there isn't any
That's just it if you read some of his DA stuff it's clear that for the most part there is design logic to the Yinglets.

I'm actually very happy to see that people are applying bio science to this issue, which is right and good.

That said, yinglets do have breasts/nipples, but they're generally vestigial at this point, and have been (on a macro scale) getting smaller/less obvious since their culture shifted to their young being raised by nannies/the community instead of individual mothers.

I can't say much about Kass without spoilers, but I will say though that the only time Kass has been without a shirt post-yingletization was when he was going to Isher's place right after it happened, and I was honestly still tweaking (ha) the yinglet design a bit. If I were to redraw that page, they'd be sticking out a bit, but not to the point where they bulge out and hang as they do in that instance. They've since been scaled back a bit.

So yes; yinglets got tits, Kass has slightly larger ones than the average. There is actually a reason for this, but <SPOILERS>

I feel there's some overlap between these two areas, as there are already at least 3 people running campaigns with yinglet characters/parties that I know of. With all the different yinglet stat sheets/character conversions, I get the feeling I'm gonna have to make an official ruleset at some point.

I gotta admit, playing a small yappy super-maneuverable spear-specialist does sound fun.

Aw man, this does in fact come up all the time. I think that as things currently are, Kass the overall individual is a he (especially in his own mind), but Kass in the current yingletized sense is a she. So it depends on what context you're talking about him/her in.

Otherwise, you can use the socially acceptable pronoun "Wvzhehhh"

Don't know if this was asked, but where'd you get the inspiration for the Yinglets?

I find them to be far less threatening and ugly, and somehow stupider versions of Skaven, but have the added benefit of actual emotions rather just the one-track mind of stab everything that moves and "DIE DIE MANTHINGS!" Both fight amongst each other constantly, very few are ever considered intelligent, females are rarely seen, and both have magic rocks that do extraordinary things but no one, not even the rats themselves, know how the hell it works.

Maybe I'm just grasping at loose straws here, but I think it's funny how they're what happens when you take a very dangerous race and take away anything that can make them a threat.

I don't get it. Just because they're a disliked minority that causes trouble at a higher rate than the majority populat- waaaait a minute

Well the base concept was to make a sort of small-monster race that in a combat-oriented setting would be the type the DM throws at level 1 players for easy stomping, but in a story about socio-cultural interactions of species at various levels of civilization, instead of conflict. So goblins/kobolds were definitely a big inspiration.

For the design, I played around with a few variations, but a couple years earlier when I was rehabbing baby birds, I spent a lot of time watching over one of these ridiculous little things (pic attached). And after watching those legs move, I realized that I just HAD to illustrate something like that at some point. And since it went well with yinglets being shallow-water fishers, it was obviously meant to be.

The Skaven/goblins/kobolds/etc have that "small dumb insular pack-community species" thing going on, but this story is largely about seeing how something like that might work out when they're not just relegated to killing things all the time.

Same goes for a certain colony of large hive-minded insects.

Seriously, I'm the one playing Starcraft and thinking, "Okay what if instead of being at war all the time, they made nice and engaged in galactic sociopolitics?

I think of things like this constantly. How would the Zerg and Protoss integrate with Terran society, or vice versa? Could the zerg mutate zerglings to be housepets? What if there's a zerg queen that gets existential and starts creating planet-wide artworks using her swarms, but is panned by critics? Could a terran obsessed with protoss join their connected mind thing? Would they need prosthetics to do that?

I should probably get back to work instead of thinking about this stuff. But I won't.

Been years since I last played SC1 and BW so I might be misremembering, but weren't the Zerg hellbent on assimilation and evolution? Can't really do any politics with an all consuming plague of locusts.

Did this change on SC2? Or mabye Brood Wars, since the only thing I remember from that was some fags reviving the supermind and Arcturus being The Supreme Faggot
>>
>>83801661
I like to think about the Zerg repurposing their combat-oriented stuff for civilian purposes. They'd be especially good for helping to colonise and planetform new worlds.

New colony world needs a temporary subway? Well, let's just lay down a nydus canal - hope you don't mind getting a little damp.

Unfertile soil? I'm sure we can come up with a creep strain to fix that...

You need patrol and hunting hounds to deal with the local critters? Zerglings would be happy to oblige.

Aerial scouts? We'll have some mutalisks adapted to the local atmosphere mix in a jiffy.

You need bunting pinned to the wall for the one year anniversary? Hold on, there's a hydralisk works here, he's probably out the back.. one moment...

Really makes me wish I had artistic ability. The whole what would you get if you took the idea of Zerg/Tyranids and removed the whole 'must consume everything' aspect is something I've thought about before.
Came up with the idea of a sci-fi setting where the hive-mind race makes itself invaluable to other species by just sort of showing up and being super helpful like >>83802008
suggests as well as renting out their mind link services for FTL communications.
Then it turns out the hive-mind is basically playing a giant game of sims with the all the other species. Spying on and manipulating them for it's own entertainment. After all if you're an immortal being capable of adapting to just about any environment what are you actually going to value? You're self sufficient for any sorts of material needs, boredom becomes your greatest enemy.

Sounds cool. Should look up a video on how they walk.

Now you got me thinking though, talking about what would fantasy races do outside of war, just how useful would other races who are proficient at just war and bloodshed be outside of it, or even better, races that profit on only war as a neutral party?

The war-proficient races could probably find work as guards, heavy lifters if they aren't blood crazed, or maybe go into entertainment as fighters in arenas to get their thrills. Worst case would be becoming bandits to attack trade routes. Politics would probably be easy so long as it's with races that they haven't been to war with.

The ones who profit on war by making weapons, armor, etc. would probably get hit the hardest, have a rough time changing production to non-war products until the fighting starts again. Some particularly shifty ones would probably try to stir shit up themselves in the background to make a profit on war if they're really desperate, but they might be in the minority and wouldn't get too far outside of races that aren't connected to those at the central trading hub and non-civilized tribes.

I don't know, but it's interesting stuff to think about.

Something I really wish I could tell as many people as possible is that pretty much anyone CAN develop artistic ability. I seriously never drew anything more complicated than a stick figure until about 6 years ago, and a good half of those 6 years were spent dicking around with other sorts of art-stuff (mostly digital video work).

Saying a person cannot draw is like saying a person cannot speak French. Well of course not, you have to practice it over and over and over until the neural pathways in your brain that have to do with that skill start solidifying those pathways, like how a path forms when you take the same route through a field of tall grass again and again.

I've been interested in telling stories (with a particular fascination for comics) for pretty much ever, but I didn't think I had the right "talent" for it, and/or didn't start drawing seriously as a kid/teen, so clearly I'd missed my chance.

Nope, just dig into some Life Drawing using the thousands of resources the internet has for free, make a regular practice of it, and hammer away until your brain does the things you want it to be able to do.

Regardless of how much inner "talent" any person has, you can pretty much guarantee that you can become a "real" artist if you want it enough (and/or are able to put in a few hundred hours of figure drawing), so never let that hold you back.

I sure as hell wish I realized this sooner.
>>
>>83801780
Also why that round frog gave such a high pitched noise: smaller things make tighter soundwaves, so they have a higher pitch.

Also, I'm pretty sure my sister wanted one as a pet before Zootopia, but she was a biology major in college, so she wants a LOT of exotic animals as pets (jokingly, though).

>After all if you're an immortal being capable of adapting to just about any environment what are you actually going to value? You're self sufficient for any sorts of material needs, boredom becomes your greatest enemy.

To add on this, yes you can develop pretty much any ability if you devote the time to it. People all pick things up at different rates, so it may take less or more time for some, but starting is the hard part. Just pick a style you like and focus on it!

Got Payday the Heist on the mind, if a Yinglet decides to become a thief, what would it steal from an unattended house?

Shinies? Socks? Pens? Scraps of food left in trash cans?

Most likely the owner of the house wouldn't even notice that it was broken into, and had misplaced his lost items. Even if they were caught, the items taken are of so little value that being reported is pointless. Almost the perfect crime.

Makes sense. So headcanon: Most Yinglets couldn't carry a tune if you gave them a mechanical tune-carrier, but they also tend to produce rare talents (this fits with the patriarchs) who can, in fact, do amazing things. This probably applies to females as well, Vislet possibly being an example: her talent, perhaps is thinking and learning in general - she's clear-headed, intelligent even by human standards, and we've seen that her life has been one long streak of figuring a hell of a lot of things out that ordinary Yinglets wouldn't even give a first thought to, let alone second thoughts.

>>83812750
Seriously. Not only is the art itself is great, but Chochi's posts on DA/FA really exposed this little comic in all sorts of ways today.

Good guy, that Chochi.

>>83812860
Someone gave me money to do the opposite of what people who give me money usually ask for!

I never really know what sorts of stuff someone will request. My favorite so far was "A Column of Redcoats from 1812 marching across a dirt road with a human master sergeant tasked with getting the 1st foot regiment of yinglets to the battle of Waterloo."
>>

>figure thread was gonna die off last night

Man, the popularity of this comic went from 0 to 60 in about two months.
>>
>>83813927
>Glad you like that one! Can I ask what part in particular stood out to you?

It is a sweet moment where he actually lets his guard down and says his true emotions. This is also supported by his findings in the letter where he states he feels scared around big people, but when his friends are around he feels better. Also, I want them to bone.
>>
>>83814387

Yeah, well, there are a ton of comics that start off great and either die due to it becoming bad, or the author gets bored.

You need to delay hype till there is a bigger tangible object.
>>
>>83814485
Agree'd, luckily Val seems to be interested in staying the course of plot over shipping/fetishshit and using the comic to improve art skills, so it looks like it will have a bright future. At least for now. Could end up being another Cheap Thrills for all I know. Still, I'm taking Val's willingness to communicate with fans as a good sign.
>>
>>83814387
Yeah, two months sounds about right. Whatever happened at that point happened hard.

>>83814461
Thanks! It can be seriously hard to figure out what people will pick up on/enjoy/look for on each page, so I'm always looking for feedback on that subject.

And yes, I kinda want to ship Kass with everyone, now that I've had so much time to think up plot points. Each combination has so many possibilities!

Also fucking is neat

>>83814485
That's exactly what I was doing, in fact! Just quietly bulking up the archives and tightening up the loose bits of my art before announcing it to the world.

But hey, if others want to give this thing exposure, I'm sure as hell not gonna turn it down!

>>83814605
Man, I know and hate that feeling of seeing a comic you follow dry up/die. I'm definitely seeing this one through; not only are there just too many scenes written that I can't die without having illustrated, but before starting I outlined this story with a distinct beginning -> things that need to happen -> ending format, rather than just starting with no real destination in mind.

So this story will definitely get an ending, and then after that, I might draw another one involving this group of characters, and/or others, instead of just telling the same one until it loses momentum.
>>
>>83814976
>Yeah, two months sounds about right. Whatever happened at that point happened hard.
I wanna say smekfight. I remember some anon(OR WAS IT YOUUUUUUU?) posting about the comic in some sort of "lesser known/unpopular comics" thread, roughly around the time Kass first got to the yinglet Enclave. But I didn't start seeing threads about it here until the smekfest. Then came the R34 and everything else.

Who would have imagined the only thing needed to get people interested in your comic was having two yinglets going at it like a pair of angry teenage yuppie girls?
>>
>>83814976

Cool, good stuff. Keep rocking dude, you got a good sense of humor.
>>
>>83814976
>And yes, I kinda want to ship Kass with everyone, now that I've had so much time to think up plot points. Each combination has so many possibilities!

Well, if Kass remains Yinglet, she will eventually have to accept a life in one, considering how important her vagina now is.
>>
>>83797789
That's shortening his argument a good bit, because it's consistently the necromancers who got the biggest jugs in his art.
>>
>>83817131
He has mentioned the whole idea of breast milk as the water of life and how large breasts makes sense if you want to represent necromancer not as puppeteers of the undead but as givers of new life, but even he admits it's mostly because he likes them tiddies.

>That said, yinglets do have breasts/nipples, but they're generally vestigial at this point, and have been (on a macro scale) getting smaller/less obvious since their culture shifted to their young being raised by nannies/the community instead of individual mothers.
That doesn't justify it. Some human groups have their young raised by the community and a woman breastfeeding a baby that is not hers occurred all over human history both in myths and everyday life. Also both animals and humans breastfeed other species in many occasions and it is a common practice in some tribes.

Every single bit of that was perfectly on point. Okay! That makes a lot of sense when it's put that way, and that was almost exactly 2 months ago.

I have a Norse buddy that revealed to me that in his native language, "smek" means "to caress" or "to fondle," which made that page a completely different experience for him.

Either way, that page was so fun to draw. It was originally just a regular smack-fight until I realized that with those weak little arms + protruding pads would keep the air from making a proper cupped "clapping" sound.

Hnnnng I am torn between my urge to answer questions about this weird little setting I've thought up, and not wanting to spoil small but definitely significant bits of plot-related info; and I've said all I can without crossing that line.

All I can say is that yinglets are weird and make biological changes extremely quickly in comparison to other species, especially with the pseudo-eugenics thing they got going on.

Naw, it hasn't been mentioned in-comic yet, but the ones that manage to somehow live long enough to die of natural causes can live up to 20-30 years. Then again the ones smart enough not to die from non-natural causes are probably also getting better nutrition and living conditions than the average.

>>83824805
>>83824811
They are indeed built for sex, as is any species that hasn't gone extinct yet! When you get down to it, we're all super-complex biological sex-machines.

So, interesting story on that subject. Right from the start, a big goal for this comic was to mess around with how species with very non-human characteristics (physically, mentally, sexually, etc) might build and manage their own cultures.

Hive-minded species, intelligent but clumsy ones with no gripping appendages, ones with non-standard reproductive behaviors, that kind of thing. And yinglets are definitely an example of that last one.

I'm a big geek when it comes to biology and cultural anthropology, so I've been accumulating a bunch of ideas on this stuff for years, which are now getting used in this story.

One of those in particular is how many species have more than 2 genders, and/or genders that behave radically different than the most common style.

I know that some of Humon's art is hella triggering but she did some great illustrations of some of the best examples of how "creative" nature can be when it comes to getting genes passed on.

Well, you asked.

Page 2 of the Prologue, the last panel. Despite creating a fantasy universe to play in, you keep the base humanity.
Page 4, panels 5, 6, and 8. What can I say, Yannit is fun.
Page 6, panels 3-5, again Yannit.
Page 10, the whole page really. Specifically like the small details, like Fancy Lad gaining small scars on his face and the back of his neck, or his dripping blood on his shirt in the last panel.
Page 14, again stolen by Yannit, in panel 3 and the last panel.
Page 17, the last 3 panels are great.

Page 24, panels 6 and 7. Yannit looks so happy to be terrifying the hell out of people.
Page 32, last panel, Kass's expression.
Page 34, panels 2 and 3, Vizlet treating Kass like a specimen.

Ok, I'll go ahead and go through chapter 1. Just a word of advice, straddle the line between plot and humor. I may be in it for the humor, but others may be more interested in the plot. Part of the reason so many people have been giving Morbi grief over the latest chapter of Poppy is because he's been focusing on plot and action for a few chapters straight, so this current comedy heavy chapter feels out of place. If you keep it balanced, you can do both without people complaining.

Page 4 of chapter 1, fourth panel. Yannit using her forearm thingie to turn Isher's head, and pointing with her antennae. It's the little details that really sell the species.
FG05, I know the middle pic gets a lot of love around here, and the facial expressions on the two yinglets do make me laugh, but the bottom image is great too. I picture the Hydralisk looking guy to talk like the Scarrens from Farscape.
Page 5, panel 1 and 5. 1 is great for the irony, being that both Isher and Yannit intimidate/disturb others without trying. 5 is just plain funny.
Page 8, last two panels, Kass's journal again.
Page 10, last two panels. Kass's breakdown and the reaction of onlookers is great.
Page 11, the entire page. Humor and a good look at yinglet society.
Page 12, pretty much the entire page. Panels 2 and 3 are perfect reaction image fodder, and the argument of superior stupidity was fun.
Page 13, panel 5. Vizlet has had enough of this shit.
Page 15, panel 2 and panel 5. Panel 2 for the reaction shot, panel 5 ...I have no idea why panel 5 makes me laugh. Might be the shark-pose.
Page 16, all of it. The little details, Kass's look of violation in panel 2, his look of "Oh SHIT" in panel 3, Pekkit's evil laugh in panel 4, Lippie in panel 5, Kass's look of absolute panic in panel 6, Feeeena going for the nails in panel 7.
Page 17, Kass's look of "I hate my life" in panel 2.
Comment too long, cont.
>>
>>83827340
I've been going back through the comic archives and noticed two little details.
1) Kass's "well fuck" facial expressions are fantastic and hilarious and easy to understand even after (s)he becomes a Yinglet.
2) Just about all the human characters have light coloured and or unusual eye colours is there a lore reason for this?
>>
>>83827888
Page 18, panels 7 and 8. Lippie being driven to the point of tears because OH NOES OUTSIDERS in 7, and Elim's look of concern in 8.
Page 20, panels 6 and 7. Oh exploitable.
Page 22, last panel, Kass's look of concern, and Vizlet's look of "surrounded by morons!"
Page 24. I know the smekfest gets all the love, but I really liked panels 3-5 a lot. Kass's progression from "what" to "no" to "STOPSTOPSTOP" was funny to me. Panels 8 and 9 I love as well, Vizlet is funny to me when she is offended and I can't figure out why.
Page 25 because it contains an art error you haven't caught yet. And the last panel since Lippie is funny when being abused.
Page 27, last panel. What's not to love?
Page 29, last panel. NOOOOO PUT IT BACK
And the current page, 30, panels 5, 6, and 8. 5 and 6 for reaction image material, and 8 for the "Seriously, zis guy!" yinglet reaction image.

I get the feeling the local yinglet community is just all "Oh, you!" about Fancy Lad. I mean, yeah, he did a bad thing, so that's why they roughed him up, but how can you stay mad at a lad so fancy?

So how old are Vislet and the Patriarchs? Are we potentially going to lose one or more of them to old age during the comic's run?

I made it for the release version of stellaries, sent to Val.
Its up to Val if it will be shared or not (obviously as I used up Val's pic with some minor but timey edits to have all tails shown in the icons).
No one asked me for the mod on DA.

Yesssss that's good stuff. Thank you! So many of these are things I didn't expect people to really zoom in on, but I'm such a damn completionist that pretty much everything I draw has a reason for being there, like little details in poses and expressions. So naturally hearing that people are not only noticing those bits, but enjoying them? Oh man that is so cathartic.

And I agree entirely about the plot/humor balance. Even on the rare instance where I'll end a page with something serious, don't expect it to linger very long.

>>83829699
Man, you really put some work into this thing! I have to say though, hearing yinglets say "The stars themselves are finally within our grasp!" is kinda terrifying.

When playing Stellaris, I did notice that the character portraits were animated using the same programs/methods I use, so it's only my jam-packed schedule that kept me from putting animated yinglets into that game.

I'm not one to re-read things but gotta say, based on my first reading: I noticed and really REALLY liked the inter-panel blood drip at the end of Kass' makeover page.
>>
>>83830044
Glad to help. I've always been a fan of writers and artists that bother to "paint the shadows" as it were. To me it's always a sign of good writing. Many bad writers only bother to put something in if 100% necessary for the plot, making for a rather rigid and bland story. As such, I'm always on the lookout for little details that tell me the writer was thinking about the details. The bandit flipping off Kass and Elim at the beginning of the Prologue, the moth eating some of the journal page at the beginning of chapter 1, stuff like that makes the world feel alive rather than just a vehicle for the story.

Also, might I recommend you move the Field Guide pages to a separate chapter? I don't think they should be shoved into the extras and side story section, since they cover a lot of important lore. I think they would be better as a separate chapter in the archives, that way they don't break up the pacing of the comic for new readers and people going back for re-reads. Just my two cents.

We dont know if they have a penis at all (by the comic lore).

Since they lay egg, there a chance for cloaca or the dinobird cloaca (see ostrich, emu, cassowary) what has a pingas (what erects with lymph fluid instead of blood).

I dont want to draw Yinglet Pron.

Me and stylized, Im flattered... Thank you!
...but the reality is that I cant do anything but the semi-realistic style.

I just never finish anything, or when I try to, I realize I cant (see the Vizlet fanart pic, perspective said nope to my plans).

So when I see someone post a sketch what works and then I see the pic finished in 1-2h hour with shading and colors...
Im sure you are doing art better then me!
>>
>>83833873
There's nothing wrong with only being able to draw in one style (I seriously can't go off model with anything that I didn't come up with), as long as you try every now and then to challenge yourself with trying something new.

I suppose the best thing you can do is go through with everything you do, even if you hate how it's looking halfway through.

One last thing I got to say is that the fact that yinglet anatomy gives you problems could be because yinglets were originally drawn in a very cartoony style, though seeing as they're based of real animals, it is possible to get them to look right

There is nothing wrong with sergals, they just have a simple and lithe generic wolfraptor design.

The problem is, furries that don't want to go the typical canine, vupline or feline root, latch on the sergal bandwagon and start adding random bullshit to make their fursonas as super special snowflakey as possible.
