The first thing I thought of was the Strong Bad E-Mail called "personal favorites" where Strong Bad is asked what his favorite sbemails were. The first couple he lists were real sbemails and then everything after that were ones that didn't really happen, yet it was all played completely straight and they never acknowledged that those weren't actual clips of things that happened before.

As much as I hate Naruto, especially shippuden for numerous reasons I'm not going to list, killer bee was so fucking cool because of this archetype. Him wrecking uchiha shit was the best.

Yeah, sounds like the community episode, where they all reminisce about things from "previous episodes" that never actually happened yet make sense within the show's general story.

"My deja vu my deja vu" is subtler because they build an episode about the repetitive nature of working in a hospital, so they recreate a bunch of scenes (reshot) and string together some re-used jokes during the whole episode. "It's pronounced ah-nalgesic. Sir, the pills go in your mouth". It was pretty neat. Scrubs was such a great fucking show.

Shwig (I'm pretty sure that's Shwig's art) decided to go not just evil but completely inverse with a lot of the characters. So the crazy magician becomes a stoic melee fighter. A cold hot dog might be a popsicle. And a Slime Princess without her slime is a dusty skeleton.

I love pragmatic villains. SO much more dangerous. Not to say that those that are silly or megalomaniacs aren't either.

This trope actually came to mind when I was re-watching the Jungle Book 2016 movie yesterday. That moment where Sher Khan goes for Bhageera's throat after kicking his ass genuinely startled me.

I think this trope could be saved if the cyborg/android hero actually has the team member who taught him how to be more human fight alongside him, helping him overcome his weaknesses as the fight progresses.That way the audience can see that it was their bond as friends and brothers in arms that won them the fight
