I would say, try to keep in mind what their Bayards do on the small scale, and scale that up, since the Red Bayard was a sword and shield, and it turned into a sword for Voltron. The blue Bayard formed an assault riffle, and the green is a multi-use utility. I would assume the Voltron forms parallel these somehow.

Was it really? The only times it seems to happen are

1. When they chase them to the castle in the beginning. This is easily explained by them following the Blue Lion.

2. When they know their coming to the Balmera. This is the only time I recall them explicitly mentioning the Galra knowing what they're going to do. In story, Hunk thinks it was the mercenaries, but it could've also been Shay's brother. It doesn't really get explicitly explained, and the villain perspective on it doesn't say either, so it might still be open.

I think they knew they were coming to rescue Allura too, but that could easily be because they expected them to do so.

Considering that Keith had dropped out for, what? A year? Enough to almost completely forget Lance at any rate from my memory, they've clearly been at a flight academy for a while. Frankly, I'm fine with the current level of romantic entanglement in this show. Which is basically Nil. It'll be interesting to see how the Writers and Producers, who largely all worked on Avatar and Korra but were not really in charge nor are they Bryke, handle everything. Romance was always the weakest part of both Avatar shows. If it shows up at all, we'll have to see whether it was Bryke who were the problem, or if it's just that these guys can't write that shit in a not completely idiotic way.
