3 out of the 4 headline titles are out now.
With Scooby-Apocalypse set for next week, how we feeling on this so far?
>>83673282
Future Quest and Scooby Doo were good, but Wacky Raceland was kinda meh
Not bad enough for me to stop reading it yet but if next issue doesn't get me then I probably will
Does Shaggy have tattoos right there?
>>83673282
when does the Flintstones come out?
>>83673418
July 6
Is there only four books?
The idea in the Wacky Raceland thread that Utopia isthe Jetson's sky citieswas fantastic.
>>83673925
To start with.
Dan Didio has said Jim Lee is headlining this and wants more in the future
>>83673406
Yes
>>83673925
for now
They have plans for more if these do alright, they mentioned the Jetsons
>>83673282
Future Quest was great, Scooby Doo was good, Wacky Raceland was just barely interesting enough to make me read the next one.
>>83674954
Peruse at your pleasure

Is anyone storytiming this?
Title #1:
Future Quest
The Hanna-Barbera Action Heroes Reborn!
>>83675156
Until my internet gives out at least.
Only read Scooby Apocalypse and Wacky Raceland but agree with everyone's comments: Scooby is great, Raceland not so much but good enough that I'll stick out the first arc.
Guess I'm reading Future Quest now too! Thanks Dave.
>>83675428
No problem.
Honestly, were it not for how badly it was constructed, Wacky Raceland would probably be my second favorite after Scooby.
>>83675475
You like that way too much Dave, I love you man, but just no
So where's my Captain Planet reboot where him and the Planeteers are villains
>>83675522
Haha.
I can't help it.
I found it...reasonably enjoyable.
But fuck does it not convey racing or chronology well
Gonna be doing my version of a chronological order for Wacky Raceland if I can tonight.
>>83675633
>Gonna be doing my version of a chronological order for Wacky Raceland if I can tonight.
You should do that next
>>83675841
Any particular reason?
Otherwise was just gonna do this in order.
>>83675875
I'd like to read along before I go to bed kek
Ah shit, forgot to turn code off this time. Hi Dave!
>>83675941
Let's see how fast these can go then haha
>>83675979
Hey!
Hope the Hickmanning is going well.
>>83676054
It is!I didn't get to do any today because I worked all day. I only just got homeI'm probably going to end up having to pin this thread and going to bed. I can already tell I don't last through Scooby
>>83674082
>Jim Lee is headlining this
Just so long as he's not redesigning any other characters. The Scooby designs are growing on me, but every time I see pouches and 90s as fuck Cable guns, I roll my eyes hard enough to achieve a side flip.
Title #2:
Scooby-Apocalypse
HB's Most Enduring In An All New Adventure
>>83676117
Good idea
>>83676124
And agreed.
This really should have been called Scooby-Doom
For those that have been picking up physical copies, which covers have you bought?
I got the Joe Quinones variant for Future Quest and it's fantastic.
Oh, crap! Sorry, Dave. I posted an image without realizing you'd started another issue.
>>83676301
It's an open thread.
That rule don't apply for open threads.
>>83676301
Well, so long as you don't mind.
>>83676230
I picked up Howard Porter's Scooby Apocalypse variant, which my daughter helped to choose since our LCS had all of the covers.
Calling it now, since the gear that Scooby wears is connected to Muttley, the tech that makes their cars talk was prototyped in Speed Buggy.
>>83676403
>Hipster Shaggy hating vegan pizza
Never gets old
>>83676151
TY based Dave'o
I must say at first I thought this reboot-remake hanna barbera thingy was shitty as hell, but after Future Quest it started growing on me. I don't quite fancy the Scooby designs mainly, but after giving it a second reading it started kickin in with my inner child. Guess I just have to sit back and enjoy it... Plus living in Brazil will have it on the shelves for me only a year from now. It's really weird and stupid.
>>83675922
>>83675951
I can't get over how hype this is even though adult Swim keeps making me think of a Lawyer suit on Birdman.
>>83676496
You can only imagine my surprise at Birdman having a face, and a name that wasn't Harvey.
Honestly, I didn't like Scooby Apocalypse. Mystery Incorporated is how you turn Scooby-Doo into something dramatic while retaining what gave the franchise its identity. Scooby Apocalypse feels like something entirely separate. They didn't just put the original characters in the apocalypse, they created entirely new characters and reused the names of the original ones. The only thing I liked was the explanation that Scooby is a reject from a genetically enhanced dog breeding program. The idea that he's smarter than the average dog, but not as smart as his family members is something that has always been true in the franchise, but now it's being played as tragic, and I love that. That shows the people on Scooby-Apocalypse had some awareness of the franchise, but for the most part, it doesn't show.
>>83676994
I find Mystery Inc. pretty alright.
The overall narrative is good, but on an episode to episode basis it was somewhat lackluster.
I find this captures the goofy spirit of Scooby-Doo better than that did so far.
Title #3:
Wacky Raceland
The Road To Victory Gets A Lot More Dangerous
In a way that most people think it should have been released
So, I'm really digging this Scooby Doo comic. But, I don't like the fact that Shaggy isn't a master chef. Also, I hope Fred becomes trap master, like in Mystery Inc. Daphne is eh.
>>83675613
>But fuck does it not convey racing or chronology well
If you're updating Wacky Races into a brave new world of ripping off Mad Max/Death Race, you have the absolute duty to make it a hyperkinetic spectacle that negates every part of your seat but the edge.
>>83676560
IIRC, his secret ID is brought up in this:
https://www.amazon.com/Cartoon-Confidential-Cawley-John-Korkis/dp/1563980053?ie=UTF8&*Version*=1&*entries*=0
I'd verify it, but my copy's in storage.
And so it ends.
Next week:
Scooby #2
>>83677183
>final moments before the flood
nah im pretty sure its already flooding there
>>83677446
That's a very succinct way to sum it up
>>83673282
The only really good comic so far is Future Quest. Don't really care for the Scooby-Doo comic, but Wacky Raceland was an awful, incoherent mess.
>>83676427
The master mind behind the race to Utopia isVelma
>>83679006
Agree, but the scooby doo one wasnt that bad. I give it a 7 out of 10. Wacky Raceland is just awful
Wasn't super impressed by any of them so far, but I was always most excited about Flinstones. I fucking loved Prez so I'm curious to see what Russell will do with the book.
Future Quest #2 has been delayed to July 6.
Future Quest >>>>>>>Wacky > Scooby
>all this future quest dick sucking
Never cared for the action cartoons.
Aw did they have to make Velma ugly
>>83681256
It's actuallySpeed Buggy
>>83676955
>scrappy doo
>>83676813
If we get some proper "classic Scooby villain as real monster" issues, this is going to be good.
>>83675069
>Sealab 2020
I would be hype for some Sealab in my Future Quest
>>83683919
What if one of the scientists Velma was a part of ran Sealab?
>>83675361
Oh God, this is giving me Venture Bros feels
Too many references of reboots of references, it's starting to make my head spin
The Hanna Barbera comics made by DC so far, are awesome! Well done DC!
>>83673502
Wow...what umm a cool birthday gift..unmm I guess
>>83677099
Why does Scooby have bedroom eyes
>>83673282
>johnny quest
>no jessie or THE BOOK OF RAGE
dropped
>>83673282
Hispter Shaggy.
into-the-trash.jpg
>>83689035
>hating best Shaggy
>>83682728
My only problem with the Flintstones is the art. Why on earth does it have such a realistic style? It's goes straight into uncanny valley. Are they trying to emulate the movie? Also I swear if it's part of this post-apocalyptic bullshit I'm dropping it immediately.
>>83691501
It's actually set in the distant past.
>>83691501
I think it's going for more of an emulation of TV sitcoms in general. I know Fred is supposed to look like Kevin James.
>>83676100
Have you guy's seen my best buddy? His name is zorak and he loves puppies.
>>83677075
Shaggy or Ollie Queen?
>>83682869The race is not to choose the best driver but to choose the best car.
Makes perfect sense to me.
