oh god.....how horrifying. The final shot of him in DOFP was so nice and uplifting, now this?

So it's really going to be like that leaked script? Wasn't the whole point of DOFP to make their future decent? I'm tired of this mopey dystopia stuff.
>>

But without anything from Old Man Logan other than Logan being and old man.

He doesn't even look that old.
>>
>>83664297
>>83664290
>>83663959
There are two versions of the leaked script going around and one or both suggests the creation of the New Mutants at the end. Wouldn't be surprised if the movie time jumps at some point to age up X-23 (if that is her) as Fox wants her to be a leading character going forward.
>>
>>83664290

I would expect her to be older. Gonna be kinda hard to center the franchise around a child that age. Never mind portraying her as an effective killer.
>>
Who is this Jared individual and why is he JUST?

So the hypothetical future X-Men movies will be set in the near future? That's neat.

I feel like Fox is running out of ideas that have to do strictly with Mutants. Eventually they're gonna have to do something with the Shi'Ar or some other alien thing, and I think they're avoiding that because it would add a completely new element, and make it difficult to work in the "opressed minority" angle they've gotten so much traction out of.

I haven't seen it yet, but they just made an Apocalypse movie. Did they make any mention of the Celestials at all?

>Did they make any mention of the Celestials at all?
No. I don't think there's even a vague implication other than the basic sci-fi visuals in acient egypt to imply that there might be Aliens involved.

Also I don't think Fox even has Celestials. And Apocalypse's deal in the movie seemed more about wanting to rule and wanting to rule about strong people rather than him having any sort of higher purpose bestowed upon him.

Also Storm in all previous movies, including the little girl Cerebro cameo in First Class (and the cut scene from Origins:Wolverine) had white hair, implying she had it from birth. And Rogue in the DoFP ending had the white streak, while not going through the events of X1. They're really inconsistent with hair
>>
>>83669751
I like how in the comics non of that is actually explained or due to an event. Some people are bald, some mutants have weird hair. Stop tying this shit to stories.

>>

Yeah, they treat baldness like it's some fictional thing, or something that only happens due to unnatural occurences. And mutations can cause blue skin, fur, a tail and wings, but unnatural/uncommon haircolor is a step too far for some reason.
>>
>>83667197
I tried explaining to a friend the X-men movie timelines and he just can't understand it and refuses to acknowledge that all the movies are connected.
The Wolverine from DOFP meddled with the past by revealing certain things including Jean's death thus everything from X-Men and X-Men TLS has been altered or doesn't exist anymore.
Mind you he isn't a comic book reader or geek but like the movies. So certain tropes and other nerdy shit does not connect with him.
>>
>>83670035
I don't blame your friend. He's pretty much right. See >>83669506
Also, the ages of characters don't match up at all, like Stryker for example. Seems they'll do the same again, especially with Kitty, if the script turns out to be true.
>>
>>83669506
>DoFP's fixed future shows a world where supposedly the events of X2 and X3 never happened, despite the sentinels situation having nothing to do with those particular events

I think you see that in Apocalypse Xavier encourages Jean to unleash her powers, while in the original trilogy he wants her to keep them contained, resulting in her raging over all that.
Also, a few changes can change the future a lot, probably a chain of events.
>>
>>83670035
>I tried explaining to a friend the X-men movie timelines and he just can't understand it and refuses to acknowledge that all the movies are connected.

But these movies are only connected through bullshit, since Origins happened there are lots of inconsistencies, most of the movies negate each other in small or bigger ways
The only properly connected ones are X1, 2 and 3, for obvious reasons

>But hack-ish writing and retcons are a staple of comics!
It's not the same shit, yo

I'd say it's perfectly fine to enjoy FoX-men as a roughly connected saga, discussing so much about canon to me is pointless because we put more thought into this than anyone working on these movies ever did
>>
>>83669113
For the inevitable Cyke centered movie
>>
>>83670195
Origins has pretty much been disowned to the point of being mocked in Fox's own films and not counted.
And yes it's a comic movie and a movie that changed hands multiple times with writers and directors. Inconsistencies happen even in the most oiled series of movies. DOFP was Fox's mulligan to undo the damage they did with Last Stand. I think that's the thing most comic book fans understand but casual cinematic universe watchers can not grasp because they never out right say that's what happens.

I'm guessing this is an X-men movies thread now?
Havok was never confirmed dead. He could have been teleported with Apocalypse and left somewhere injured.
Angel was never confirmed dead. He fell inside the aircraft, was exploded, but was what looked like an injured state.
Psylocke ran off to who knows where.
That could leave them open to return. First member of the brotherhood maybe?

>>
>>83673976
What's there not to understand?
Post-credits hint at DOFP.
DOFP makes every single movie aside from First Class non canon, Wolverine 3 takes place in the new timeline.
According to the leaks that have been right up until now, it happens in some sort of dark future, so it seems like the timeline erasure was pointless.

>>
>>83674019
That is both annoying and awesome, annoying because its supposed to be Bishop that is stuck in a constant cycle of 'my future sucks' and no wolverine, but its awesome because I always liked the idea that there was a constant "worst case and most likely to happen" timeline that the time traveling characters come from.

It's completely inconsistent.
I mean, they made a movie to make all the other movies non-canon due to how inconsistent everything was with each other.

Of course shit is always going to happen in comics because they don't plan on stop doing them, but considering everyone's contracts are about to end, and that the big star of the Fox franchise is about to leave, and the biggest bad guy they have, Apocalypse, is dead, you'd think they could give a happy ending and end it all, and then reboot.

I mean, aside from doing a proper Dark Phoenix and Sinister, what's left?
And even then, they could just save Sinister for the new franchise.

And another question. In the ending of X-men 3, we see Logan happy and smiling watching over the Xavier mansion.

What events made him become the way he is in the wolverine?
>>
>>83674369

how does Nicholas Hoult turn into Kelsey Grammer?
>>
>>83674369
It's pretty clear that he still couldn't get over Jean. So apparently X3's ending is Logan deciding to move on, and The Wolverine is his brain going "no fuck it here's dreams of your dead waifu"
>>
>>83674369
>What events made him become the way he is in the wolverine?

As we said, the movies don't really care about what happened before.

I mean, X-Men 3 ended with humans seemingly accepting mutants, yet they make Sentinels anyway.

Continuity is fucked, just don't ask.
>>
>>83674369

Did The Wolverine need another hour explaining that Logan went away into exile because he couldn't live with killing Jean to hold your autism at bay?
>>
>>83674141
Magneto's progression in those three movies bothers me more.
>told their fellow mutants to stop hiding and join him in DOFP's ending
>goes into hiding in early of Apocalypse
>>
>>83674429
>I mean, X-Men 3 ended with humans seemingly accepting mutants, yet they make Sentinels anyway.

The viral material for DOFP explained this.
The original Sentinels were active until the late 90's.
They were re-activated solely because of Magneto's shit with the Golden Gate Bridge.
>>
>>83674506
Which makes Magneto's actions in the past even funnier. Somehow the Golden Gate incident is enough to make Sentinels necessary again, but Magneto in the 70's moving an entire stadium, sabotaging Sentinels, and literally inches away from murdering the president? Nah, no biggie, it's cool because mutants stopped him!
>>
>>83674483

He slinks away alone at the end of DOFP after he's shamed in front of the entire world

Do people even pay attention to this movies before inventing problems with them
>>
>>83674506
>>83674577
Also doesn't really mesh with the first movie, where mutants were known but the government was only just barely starting to talk about what to do with them.
>>
>>83674623
The first movie doesn't mesh with itself even.
Since there's already enough for a large school in Westchester.
>>
>>83674483
It's also funny how Magneto running free at the end of First Class was pointless and it would have had the same effect if they had just captured him.
I mean, he didn't do anything that year, they just pulled out of their asses the JFK thing to justify he was captured, and they killed all his mutant friends off screen aside from Mystique.

One more, why is wolverines immortality in his bone marrow?
Shouldn't there be a part of his brain that controls his healing factor and immortality?

Why not extract that instead?

And why does it hurt him to have his claws cut of? They have no nerve endings as demonstrated many times
>>
>>83674772
Bad writing, or just careless about the source material.

Funny how he has his adamantium claws back in DOFP anyway.

>>83674875

>implying they don't grow back the metal
>>
>>83674772
He cant hide his claws because theyre too hot
>>
>>83674772
The healing factor is just in his genetics. I would assume that they wanted the idea to be that the genetics within the bone marrow would be more potent or something ridiculous like that.

The adamantium doesn't have any nerves to feel pain but the bones that the adamantium in-case would have nerves and therefore would be cause for pain to have those broken and cut through.
>>
>>83669506
>>X3 showed adult Moira attending Xavier's comatose twin, First Class and it's sequels have another Moira of roughly the same age, the movies can't co-exist unless we assume she somehow can't age

>>In 6 movies that feature the character Xavier's comatose twin is never mentioned outside that small after-credits scene in X3 despite his relatively huge relevance in order for the events of DoFP to take place
Its not a comatose twin in the actual movie. That was the idea but never got into the actual movie.

>The Wolverine's ending had Logan losing his adamantium claws
Except he is with the man that has total control of metals and have ripped him the adamantium several times in the comic books. How dense do you have to be to not realize magneto gives him the claws back?

>First Class says that Beast built Cerebro, X1 says it was Xavier and Mags
First one was created by Beast, the mansion is destroyed along with it. Mags helps to rebuild the house and probably cerebro too at the end.

>X1 has Xavier surprised about how Mags must've found a way to shield away Cerebro and his mental powers
True. But maybe Magneto reverse engineer the helmet in the future. After all, he understood how Sentinels worked too.

>DoFP had Mystique picking up Logan's body for an unrevealed reason, in Apoc's canon apparently that never happened
Real Stryker gets him again. Ripple, stream, beast.

>X1-2-3's Xavier shows no affection for Mystique despite them being former close friends as First Class revealed
By then Mystique was a monstrous assassin. Irredeemable.

>DoFP's fixed future shows a world where supposedly the events of X2 and X3 never happened, despite the sentinels situation having nothing to do with those particular events
That was a side effect. An actually helpful side effect. The main goal was to make Mystique not fall into the hands of Trask and advance the Sentinel program. Which was achieved. The side effect was from Magneto not being a faggot.
>>
>>83675523
>was from Magneto not being a faggot.
Shame he did end up being a faggot and killed millions of innocent people in Apocalypse.
Don't know why Mystique killing Trask convinced the government to approve the Sentinels, but Magneto killing a bazillion people and destroying countless cities didn't.
>>
>>83675579
Well, they never knew. Mystique killed him in front of many people. For the gov Apocalypse destroyed the world not Mr Dindu.

He also stopped being a faggot at the end of the movie...

Is Marvel really the only company that can keep details 90% correct in their movies? The Dark Knight trilogy kinda counts I guess, but they were all by the same director.

Doesn't his body expel any foreign objects that piece his skin.
Also when doing blood transfusions wouldn't blood not compatible be rejected even if super human? I mean bone marrow is the same way if you and the donor don't match there will be a rejection.

Characters like Emma Frost, Banshee, Polaris, Havok, Kitty Pryde, Jubilee, Psylocke, Northstar, Wolfsbane, Syrin, Cable, Madrox, Magik, Blink, Sunspot, Cannonball, Domino, Warpath, Bishop could be major characters who so far have been wasted on bit roles or not even appeared at all.

What, like, CLAM COWDAH Kennedy? Didn't Magneto try to save him because "he was one of us?"

Is some other character named Kennedy? I've been out of the X-Men loop way too long.

>>83683591
Then why did she age like 6 years in 53 years? From around 32 in 1962 (First Class) to 38 in Last Stand (2015)? Is she secretly a mutant or something?

>>83683816
I know, so why after being consistent with the comics in 6 movies would they suddenly give her black hair as a teenager in Apocalypse for no reason? It doesn't make the movie better, but it creates another plothole for absolutely no reason.
>>
>>83684210
Origins was crap, but it kinda tried to be fun at least and featured lots of characters and action
The Wolverine is just... there. You can't shit on it too much because, in the end, it's functional, it does it's job, but that job is kinda meh

X3 and X-Men: Origins - Wolverine were erased after DOFP.

X3 happened in 2015/6. Deadpool came out in 2016 and showed Deadpool's new origin after the world was changed.
>>
>>83674577
In original timeline, Magneto was in jail for up to 50 years, apparently.
In new timeline, Mystique saves president, doesn't kill Trask, and Trask was revealed to try to make contract with countries that are enemies of US.
None of that changes that supplementary material of The Bent Bullet Report reveals Mystique as killer of Kennedy.

>X3 happened in 2015/6. Deadpool came out in 2016 and showed Deadpool's new origin after the world was changed.
Again, what makes you say that? The only one that spoke about Deadpool's place in the universe is Reynolds (as far as i know), and he said

>I really don't think this has anything to do with Days of Future Past or its timeline
>If it were Deadpool, he could tell Days of Future Past to take its timeline and go f--k itself. We make fun of the timelines in the movie. But no, Deadpool is not effected by that at all. Deadpool I think is just his own thing, his own universe. Anytime that the X-Men sort of interact with Deadpool in his universe they do so at their own risk and peril
>>
>>83684254
see I just love Wolverine in Japan, it gave me that. Otherwise, I wasn't trying to be picky about it, so I enjoyed it. But yeah, it was kinda unremarkable
>>
>>83684479

Because we saw Deadpool's origin PRE-DOFP in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

The movie seems to take place in 2016.

And it has Colossus who is a member during that period.

But you're thinking that on the basis that everything must be connected. As it was pointed out in other posts, the X-men movies already are barely connected to each other despite being purposefully made as part of the same universe, why can't DP be it's own thing, especially if the people involved didn't think of it as a part of a shared continuity?
>>
>>83684356
What about William Stryker? He's around 47 in 1969, around 28 in 1973, around 47 again in 1979, around 30 in 1983, and around 57 in 2012.
>>
>>83666762
that is a beard and you know it
>>
>>83669506
I love these movies and I love providing timeline excuses and theories on these movies so let's proceed:
>Moira
Moira ages fantastically. Simple as that. Even Charles makes note of it.

>Xavier's twin
We never learn much about Xavier's life before Raven breaks in for a bite to eat.
It's a dead husk not worth mentioning up until Xavier bullshits his way back to life, and considering said husk never walked ever, it stands to reason Xavier can't either and he's too busy with other things to learn again.
(Fuck X3 was so bad. Not even Ratner's fault really he just did an unimpressive job at directing. But who wrote the garbage script?)

>Wolverines claws are back
Magneto is his ally now and there's a sizable time gap between Wolverine and DOFP where metal claws are needed for the war against the Sentinels.

>Shaw & Magneto's Helmet
He could instead be surprised that Magneto kept an old relic and repurposed it years later after Mags broke out and Xavier got out of his slump during the Vietnam War.

>Stryker-Mystique saving Logan never happened
It did happen. Stryker is just persistant.

>Xavier shows no affection for Mystique
Why would he? Is there even a scene with him and her together in the old movies? Their bond together is dead and buried around the time Mystique would kill Trask, Xavier starts his school again.
As far as he's concerned she's in Erik's hands and she prefers it that way.

>DoFP fixing X2 and X3, despite sentinels having nothing to do with those particular events
Because of the Phoenix being let out prematurely in Apocalypse and being dealt with in a different way instead of mental blocks, this saves Cyclops and Jean in the new timeline depicted in DOFP.

>Xavier being Bald
Not necessarily, he just got bald in a different way.

>First Class says that Beast built Cerebro, X1 says it was Xavier and Mags
Haha You got me on this one. How bout this? Chuck just lied.

Also as an aside I've never gotten a "comment is too long" before
>>
>>83684087
There is nothing more evident of "Ripple, stream, beast" than Chuck constantly losing his hair.

>First Class says that Beast built Cerebro, X1 says it was Xavier and Mags
First one was created by Beast, the mansion is destroyed along with it. Mags helps to rebuild the house and probably cerebro too at the end.

There's a complication actually. Hank built the one in FC and that gets destroyed by Tempest
So who helps him build the one in the mansion seen in DOFP? Did Magneto (sans helmet) and his FC brotherhood stop by to help him build that?
Right before they go do their JFK mission that ends up getting a bunch killed, Magneto captured and Mystique tracking Trask?

Events of Apocalypse never happened in the old timeline.

>>83675579

By Riptide. Tempest is comic mutant name of Angel Salvadore.

>Colossus: Let's go see the professor.
>Deadpool: McAvoy or Stewart? These timelines are confusing!
>>
>Trask was the first person she killed
>Discounting mutant president, JFK

Wings look great
Face/Hair look cherubic so that kinda works

But that suit sucks. At least make it black/purple and not make it look like he's a member of the new xmen with all that gray.
>>
>>83688715
It's a bad thing in the comics as well. You can't just say, "this other thing sometimes is bad too, so that makes it okay." Also, movies are not comics. They don't have a million tie-ins and crossovers written by a bunch of people, nor do they have over half a century of continuity. If you're making linear movies and you can't even make a direct sequel that doesn't undermine major plotpoints of the last one you're just bad at making movies. It would be as if one writer ended an issue on a cliffhanger and then completely abandoned it the very next issue without ever resolving it. You aren't going to convince me you'd like that shit.

I just wish his hair from X-Men 1 would've stuck around. Now he's mostly just Hugh Jackman with maybe a small cowlick on either side or sometimes not even with those, but just his upper lip and above his chin shaved. They didn't even attempt anything for this. Now he just looks like gray-haired Hugh Jackman. I mean, I know Logan's hair is pretty dumb when you take him out of a comic book, but it's pretty much one of his few visual characteristics aside from his height, hairiness and claws.
