Well to be fair, Dragons is already serious and plot driven, Croods was clearly parodying cliffhangers, and Puss in Boots spent the entire second season deciding to try serialization and building up to a cliffhanger.
It's really just Julien and Peabody that abruptly drop a drama bomb in the very last minutes.
