This is well written, Corben's best stuff is when he's teamed with a good writer.

I don't think it was ever established if this was supposed to be an AU.

Most assume it is, though it actually can fit Earth-616 provided Hammer and Mountain aren't supposed to be Hammerhead and Man Mountain Marko (not too difficult in the case of the latter, considering he's had nigh-identical relatives show up in other stories).

Once I saw Cage going back and forth between the bar and the various players I realized that his story is borrowing heavily from Yojimbo, not that that's a bad thing.
