You also reminded me of another trick I hate in comics. The decompression. Those guys that phone stuff in? They just stretch scenes out endlessly. Bendis has so many talking head issues for 6 issue arcs that always take up half a year. It's the easiest payday. They're not marketing them in merchandise, they're not putting them in video games, they're pressuring Hasbro to not make toys, they're not putting them in cartoons. Those are all things Fox gets no money from. They just don't want to market characters they don't have the movie rights.

Why would Marvel waste four slots on X-men when they can fill those slots with more Avengers titles that will sell just as well?

And then if they ever do get the movie rights back or make a deal they can do a huge relaunch of X-titles that will sell like crazy because they took the Mutants away.
