I like the series quite a bit. I agree with 4chan's general consensus on the rating of each volume.

There are a couple of gripes, though.

I don't like how women are designed in this world. All the men have animal heads with fun expressions, but the women are literally just human ladies with facepaint. I've noticed that this only happens with female main characters, though, and plenty of background women have animal heads. I guess it's for general sex appeal and the artist going for the "femme fetale" look that would be lost with an animal face, since I doubt France would have a "we're not furries, bro" phobia that would make people lose readers.

Also, Amarillo kind of makes me feel empty. What ever came of the destroyed car and the rich buffalo guy who hired Blacksad to deliver it?

The sexier a character is supposed to be, the more it ressembles a human. Blacksad himself is a man with cat ears and facepaint (and is shown in Red Soul to make an entire classroom swoon)
Since most female leads in a noir story are supposed to be femmes fatales, there is a lot of catgirls.
