Chris Claremont

whoever says it's all golden is a liar but for the most part is a solid read. I don't like recommending certain story lines for new readers because the thing that makes Claremont's work so rad is that he is constantly laying groundwork for future stories within the current story. It's like having multiple slow burning fuses along with the current bomb going off.

Start at the beginning of his run and just keep reading. It starts of kind of whatever but once Byrne hops it it gets really fun.

if you're talking about his whole X-Men run with the company, then definitely NOT. He has more shit work than good to be honest.

But if you're talking about his iconic 70/80 run on Uncanny X-Men then definitely YES.

The only fault I find is that he got bumped off X-MEN. He was the perfect X-MEN writer. Marvel should have just spun off X-MEN to its own universe and had Chris write it forever.

Absolute best was Cockrum through Byrne. After that it's still good, but there are quality dips.
