Can someone explain to me Tony's reasoning. Guy who possibly has visions of the future, who was right once and saved a lot of lives, says Thanos is coming are they just supposed to ignore him. If Bendis wanted to do something to show the flaws of arresting people for future crimes as a valid argument, why didn't he make the inciting event having Ulysses foresee an important Avengers be responsible for some kind of big catastrophe? Then you can have the focus on them and suddenly it becomes split down the middle between heroes who stand by aforementioned catastrophe bringing hero and those who believe it's more important to prevent catastrophe, even if it means arresting their friends.
Instead now you just have Tony pitching a hissy fit because Rhondey died in the line of duty and enlisting the Tiny Tony Urban Achievers (Yes and proud we are of all of them) to attack a perfectly innocent and boring commune of Not-Mutants.

It's weird that this seems like it's going to be the instigator. Tony's motivations make no sense. Fighting super villains is what they do already. What happened with Thanos could have happened without any visions and what does Tony think they should have done instead? Ignored the vision and let Thanos have the upperhand? It makes no sense.

A better plot would've been closer to what Tony was actually describing. If (after multiple reliable, world-saving visions) Ulysses predicted that one of the good guys was going to do something bad. And then some characters would support pre-emptively locking them up or something and some would oppose it, creating the rift.

Stupid that it's all going to be because Rhodey volunteered to fight Thanos and died as a result. Hopefully there's some more nuance to it than that. Hopefully Tony realises he's overreacting but at that point it's too late because he's created a bigger problem and everything snowballs.

It's also weird that every day people can see these obvious flaws in something a comic veteran wrote. It's hard to believe he doesn't know this is a weak motivation/conflict, too.

They are making the conflict start stupidly because otherwise no one would be on Carol's side, every government that has tried to punish crimes before they happen has been described as an Orwellian dictatorship. If the church found out about Galileo's heretic science, the best he could've hoped for would be excommunication. Okay, so here's what exactly gets me about the death of Rhodey and She-Hulk.

In the VERY same issue of this comic, we have Doc Samson ADMITTING that he died just WEEKS ago. And he says that he's FINE now. He essentially mocked death and spat all over her.

Look, Marvel wants me to take the deaths of She-Hulk and Warmachine at face value, that's not gonna work when you make Death look like a fucking joke. I don't even get it. I don't have any suspsense or emotions from these deaths whatsover due to that. I mean it's bad enough that deaths and revivals happen frequently, but to outright acknowledge this in the very same issue where the deaths of two characters is treated as a big deal? Just wow, can they not see how stupid that is?

There's no actual stakes so far as character deaths are meaningless (Dead No More starts next month right?), there's been no worst case outcome if they just ignore the visions (which might happen to get really hamfisted about it) and it seems like Thanos is shuffled to a spin off just to focus on Carol and Tony being cunts to each other.
