It was back when the one-time characters still had charm to them. That certainly helped the episode.

Are there any post-movie episodes that are considered to be on par with S1-3? As in not just good for a post-movie episode.

I hadn't seen ANYTHING Spongebob since quite some time now, except this snail hoarding episode called Sanctuary I saw on Youtube which was googled because of some screenshots I had taken a glimpse of.

At least it amused me, more so with Spongebob's hilariously squinty eyes and reactions.

The Lost Mattress is such a good post-movie episode that I swear it was made before the movie.

My main issue with the new ones is the fucking animation man. Looks so cheap and flat now. The colors are so overly-bright and everything is so stiff and lifeless. It's got modern Simpsons syndrome, but ten times worse.
