Goddammit these two had some great potential but Ford became a washboard with swanky, barely established character ideals and morals and ZERO character development (everything that was meant to be character development happened in the fucking AFTER CREDITS?!), not to mention Alex's obvious hate-boner for Ford played a big deal in this. Seriously though, is Ford based off of another one of his uncles that beat him or something? And Fiddleford became a discount Ice King.

One of the things that really stood out to me was that they kept trying to force a love interest on Dipper despite the fact that he:

1) Didn't need one.

And 2)Clearly didn't care much about girls as he did mysteries. Wendy was the exception. Period.

They literally could have ended so much shitty screentime and character regression if they had given Dipper and adventurous friend who's also a girl that has family connection with the mysterious side of Gravity Falls (And no, I don't necessarily mean Pacifica, but she's also a perfect fit too).

I mean fuck, Mabel obviously doesn't care for any of the shit Dipper does, vice versa with Dipper, but she at least has friends. Throw Dipper a god damn bone instead of wasting a whole damn episode showing him trying earnestly and failing spectacularly to get a girlfriend he doesn't even want.

They only people who find Wendy an "interesting character" are people who want to stick their dick in her and teenage girls who self-insert as her.

To be fair, that was more than season 1 Pacifica's fanbase had.

Roadside Attraction should have been replaced by a Pacifica episode instead where she comes along on a mystery. Golf War was a Mabel-Pacifica episode, Northwest Manor Mystery was a Dipper-Pacifica episode, so the 3rd episode could be about Pacifica and the twins in general.

It could have also helped acclimate the audience to Pacifica in the season finale, by showing that you can't just do a 180 on how you've been acting your whole life after a single night and that she's still got issues and vices she's working on ironing out.

But that isn't to say you couldn't have a Wendy plot elsewhere. I think it would have been better if Mabel and Mermando had a long distance relationship, so you could gut the "Mabel tries to get a boyfriend" (I think there were two, Gabe and the Rich Guy) in season two and replace them with Wendy/Candy/Gideon/Whoever subplots instead.

It's little stuff that adds up. He doesn't consider Ford a member of the Pines family. The way he talks about Ford and the discrepancy of how Ford is portrayed is also odd. The biggest one being the post-Finale quote where he states that Ford saw Stan as nothing more than a bumbling fool and it took Stan getting his mind wiped AS PUNISHMENT for Ford to get his act together. Plus how Ford is villanized for wanting to follow his dream instead of being attached to the hip with Stan. Like, it's obvious how Alex favors Mabel, everything goes her way, she can never be sad, any complaints about Mabel just means that the viewers are wrong, not her. That's the biggest thing that gets me. He will have the show lick its own ass bending over backwards for Mabel, but stomp Ford into the ground for wanting a legit future.

Ugh, dwelling on this makes me remember the Apprenticeship shitplot and how the show handled it.

Well Bill did seem much more interesting to me before we learned his endgame was a weak fucking kiddie party. But maybe instead of needing to keep it a secret, you could have something more out of the box, like

1. Bill's backstory is more explicitly Flatland, it's public domain, and his motivation is like A. Square, it's more clear he thinks he's expanding people's horizens a knowledge and shit, even if he goes about it in a crazy way. I remember in Sock Opera when he comes in through the window in a zen meditation pose and his AMA comments about taking psychedelics. That's a more interesting character already.

2. Make him more Lovecraftian and unknowable in his goals.

3. make his goals more purely sadistic like Bob from Twin Peaks and feeding on human suffering.

Some people like that Bill had silly goals I know, and I'm not saying he can't be funny, but the way things played out was lame for an Endgame Boss especially when the whole show had been in some ways building to this. And since /co/ was more let down in the finale than most I accept that most people felt it was fine and it wasn't terrible really but it's still just a shame.

I honestly agree. For a demon, Bill never really felt demonic. And while Weirdmaggedon Part 3 showed he could be nasty and scary, I wish there was more of that. But I feel like that's just a me thing. I've never really seen a demon who felt like an actual demon and not an attractive actor/actress with shitty makeup or special effects.

I enjoyed it personally, it feels like a very subjective thing though. It's odd, obviously, and it may not have aged well. Some would argue that it has the same problem as GF in falling apart after a central mystery is solved.

When it was mentioned on here someone said it would seem repetitive with the Ford backstory, but I think it could just show that that's Bill's M.O., and there's no need to change an effective con strategy.

I also wonder if Bill would have been more effective if we, the audience, had thought that Bill was a good and helpful guy at first. Although you got a little of that at the start of SO, by that time from Dreamscaperers, we already knew he was bad news.
