Kinda the whole point of the usage considering these days "SJWs" hardly ever go up in arms over social issues. Just nerd shit like "What's BB8's gender?" & trans representation in video games.

Piggybacking on what everyone's said. Best issue of the Rebirth one-shots so far.

Probably the sole and simple element missing from the other one shots is the telling of a full story involving civilians. For example, the "missing mother" plotline gets resolved in this very issue (compare the captured woman's hair at >>83378106 to >>83378387). And the center of the story is heroes saving real, everyday people.

The other one-shots were just setups for the rest of the series. But more than that, they were a bit insular, being centrally about the heroes in their changing roles and not much else. Comparatively, Green Arrow Rebirth did a lot more in just as much space (e.g. sparking the GA+BC relationship, telling a mostly complete story w/ regular people, setting up a story with a clear antagonist, re-establishing Green Arrow's focus as a hero).

If Percy brings the fire and Schmidt+Ferreyra's art are both as good as in this issue, this should end up being one of Rebirth's biggest victories.

When people talk about variants boosting sales a lot it's because they're incentive based (meaning you have to order a certain amount of issues to order the variant). I think the only variant this book had was a free one which isn't usually a huge bump (maybe 10k). Or at least DC's incentive variants will usually include the required ratio in the solicits like with DK3 you have "1:10 Robin variant cover by GIUSEPPE CAMUNCOLI" and so on, but with this issue there was only "Variant cover by STEVE SKROCE"

I think Canary come on a bit too strong at times but not outright terrible. I think Percy will find a good balance.
