oh man those red briefs, why did they ever take you away.
>>
>>
>>
>>83370141
OOOOOOOOOOOOHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH FUCKING SHIT I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS IS ACTUALLY HAPPENING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
>>
>>
Damnit this issue is actually pretty good and actually got me interested. Shame I dropped this for Batman instead fucking damnit.
>>
>>
>>83370282
That costume is literally fucking PERFECT. Why did they ever think it needed changing in the slightest?
>>
>>
Not bad. Interested in seeing where this goes.
>>
>>83370447
holy fucking shit they're not even hiding the fact that it's Reign of the Supermen all over again.
>>
why is the inker so mediocre
mahnke's art used to look better
>>
>>83370447
>Reign of the supers
So when's he coming back?
Action 1000 to far away?
>>
>Nu-52 Superman is truly dead
>or is he?
I'm not that sure anymore.
>>
>>83370407
Welp.

Nu52 Supes really is dead. Wow. I honestly figured they'd either revive him or set up the plot to have him revived in this issue.
>>
>>83370444
Yeah, not to bring shit from the other thread here but I like this better than Batman too. All content aside, I feel this do a better job of establishing the new status quo and the whole respecting the legacy thing that Rebirth is supposed to be about. Hopefully it won't nosedive from here.
>>
>>83370473
eh, at least it's not the guy from Justice League, his art looked terrible there.
>>
>>83370447
Lana didnt get any powers?
>>
This was actually good, but I don't feel very satisfied after finishing it.

Oh well, just have to wait 2 weeks.
>>
Why does DC think another convolouted reboot instead of a clean start is a good idea to bring back old readers as well as get new ones? Shouldn't they distill theee characters down instead of doubling down on the spaghetti on the wall?

>>83370468
Holy fuck. In all my apathy, I never realized what a pathetic retread this shit is.
>>

1464150896987.jpg
22KB, 500x403px
that was pretty good
>>
>>83370492
I mean, he's coming back, but it's not going to happen anytime soon. Hell, I wouldn't be surprised if this is LONG longterm -- like, Johns himself plans on bringing him back.
>>
>>83370468
I mean this whole issue was Supes going "lol he'll be back, didn't you read Death and Return of Superman?"
>>
>>83370536
Action 1000.

I'd put money on it.
>>
So basically the new suit looks like the MoS suit because It's going to be created by this Universe's Fortress of Soltitude and Clark just ditched the colar?
>>
>>83370510
She knows stuff, like where Fortress is. Maybe powers still didn't activate?
>>
>>83370352
I hope this is explained?
>I just know because he's dead
>>
>>83370141
>Tomasi
It's shit, there I saved y'all some time.
>>
>>83370418
Wow

I love Batman and hate superman
But this was 100 times better than kings rebirth

That has to mean a lot
>>
>>83370468
Well, I appreciate them being upfront and not bothering to hide it, at least. Also, I really like the whole 'status quo shift' and 'why they wear the shield' part - it's actually a good way for new readers to get into the books much easier, they should do more of this if they really want new readers.
>>
>>83370523
because Rebirth sold out and it's not a fucking reboot. Someone stole 10 years from the Universe shit changed, holy fucking shit how dense can you be to not get that?
>>
>>83370580
It's probably her powers she got from the blast from Clark
>>
>>83370580
It will but later, it's probably the same reason Lois is superman now.
>>
>>83370599
>xenos
you should know already the answer to how dense he is
>>
>>83370523
>I never realized what a pathetic retread this shit is.

You must be as dumb as they come. People were saying how this was Reign of the Supermen when they saw all those Super-Family books.
>>
>>83370589
You mean Snyder's rebirth. King only wrote what Snyder ordered him to.
>>
>>83370447
Not even being subtle
>>
>>83370510
She probably did, the solicited Superwoman cover has someone with a red and white suit on
>>
>>83370636
So is this what King fans still hold on hope to then? It's okay to say he wrote shit, it doesn't he's always been shit or will always be shit. Strange how this almost always comes up for writers just when they got the A-list books though.
>>
>those nu52 Supermanfags on suicide watch
>>
>>83370523
Mouseketeer please. Not everyone's as dense as you.
>>
>>83370282
>>83370300
>>83370322
This was a pretty nice call back, even for Tomasi. Can't believe i actually digged this Rebirth book.
>>
>>83370431

I like that one much better than the Numale at the bus stop
>>
>>83370828
Still has the logo wrong.

I can't believe that didn't at least shop it correctly.
>>
>>83370407

poor Lana though

>tfw DC will never ban giving him glowing red eyes
>>
>>83370397
He literally had this in Last Son Tomasi, have you ever read a Superman comic before?
>>
>>83370407
Why is Superman drawn like a woman with a beard?
>>
>>83370447

Everytime they focus on Luthor they do great comics, I can't wait!
>>
>>83370447
And let's not forget, in the coming months we'll be getting Eradicator in Superman, Cyborg Superman (Zor-El) in Supergirl, and Superboy (Jon) in mulltiple titles. I wonder which book Steel is showing up in.
>>
>>83371076
Maybe they'll reveal he's not really pre-Flashpoint Superman but rather pre-Infinite Crisis Superman?
>>
>>83370582

Funny, I read Tomasi and I was ''YES, it will be good!'' and it was.
>>
I'm just happy now that these books are doubleshipping there'll be no need for Crossover Bullshit
>>
>>83371124
His face is half of Superwoman's cover

He's on the cover of Superwoman, so I think that's where he'll be.
>>
>>83371168
Oh poor naïve anon
>>
>>83371184
So how will this work with Lois. Is Lois White going to cover for her in the daily planet?
>>
>>83371168
lmao
>>
>>83371168
d-did you not see the last page? (>>83370418) I'm just imagining that AC and Superman will lead into each other every week.

And then there's >>83370447 along with them literally saying "reign of the supers". Like. Come on. Of course there will be crossovers.
>>
>>83371168
The Super line really got the raw end of the deal on that during New 52. It only happened to the Batman line a couple times and they were still mostly readable. But the Superman crossovers were just shit.
>>
>>83371168
>Berganza
It won't be crossover, it'll be full blown triangle era
>>
>>83370523
>being this retarded
I think Gwenpool may be more up your alley.
>>
>>83371168
King said Batman has a crossover or two planned and that they're probably gonna take advantage of the double shipping to do it.
Like having one issue be the tie in and next issue be a normal one.
It'll probably be the same everywhere else.
>>
>>83371076
who could possibly keep up with all that shit
>>
>>83370589
GL>Supes>Bats so far for me. Though I get the feeling GA will be the best.
>>
>>83370744
The last arc and pre-52 Clark being so adamant that he was going to come back actually made me feel something for him for the first time.
>>
>>83371524
Oh shit, I forgot that's coming up this week too. Yeah, hopefully that one's good, the preview looks promising.
>>
>>83371488
>King said Batman has a crossover or two planned
Stop the presses, Batcrossover.
>>83371524
>Though I get the feeling GA will have the most of shiposting
ftfy
>>
>>83371262
>It only happened to the Batman line a couple times

Night o the owls
Death of the family
Zero Year
Requiem
End game

And there may be something else I'm missing. Superman may have had more though
>>
>>83371143
This was dumb
>>
>>83370633
>>83371432
>Responding to the faggot that has said that he is not a faggot even when he has a trans girlfriend
>>
>>83371610

Nah it was alright
>>
>>83370447
so SuperLois is New 52 Lois right?
>>
>>83370407
>>83370418
Oh man I got emotional there.
>>
>>83371566
Ah, I see, if you count the tie-ins Batman probably had more. But outside of Robin War I can't think of any that had an entire crossover arc where you had to jump around from book to book the way you had to for H'el on Earth or Last Days which is what pissed me off about the way the Superman line handled theirs.

I've read four Rebirth specials now and this was the first one I like. It's the only one that actually talked about optimism and legacy as central themes. Art wasn't the greatest, but I can forgive that.
>>
>>83371184
Wait is that Lana on the cover too?

Solo Lana is Superwoman red and Lois Superwoman blue?
>>
>>83370264
he is so hot.
>>
>>83371707
It's my least favorite because that's all it does. Also because I'm just not a fan of this two Supermans thing, this Superman just feels so out of place and you get this comic-booky-in-a-bad-way exposition about how things were different but not really on his Earth and etc.
>>
>>83371768
Daddy Superman's a lot handsomer than prettyboy Superman.
>>
That book is so good.
>>
>>83371776
My god, you know what this means?

We like different kinds of comic books. I think we have to fight to the death now. Or, uh... accept that we have differing opinions.
>>
>>83371814
this:) he is s a lot handsomer than Bruce .
>>
>>83370418

Wait, I haven't read a superman comic in like 10 years.
New 52 superman is dead and replaced by the old superman ? What? How?
>>
>>83370500
Yeah, I thought there'd be an explanation than "oh he's dead", like the matrix not doing anything or something more unnatural and grotesque.
>>
>>83371859
maybe the matrix was removed by the good Doctor

But seriously, I have my doubts about New52 Superman being permanently dead. The Regeneration Matrix is just one method to bring him back to life.

Also Dr Manhattan stole the red briefs, I TELL YOU.
>>
Kings Batman is as pretty meh.who could possibly keep up with all that shit Superdad Rebirth it's much better...
>>
>>83371858
>New 52 superman is dead and replaced by the old superman ? What? How?
See The Final Days of Superman (originally Super Leagues) arc from the same writer
>>
Why and how is original Superman in the nu52? Why would Manhattan allow that? Why couldn't Wally find him when he was pinballing around the place?
>>
So Lana, Lois, and MAYBE three other people have fragments of New 52 Superman's soul, or mind or essence inside them.

...if only there was blank slate Superman body running around to stuff them back into.
>>
>>83372053
>Why and how is original Superman in the nu52?
convergence. he went out of time and came back to his earth after the timeline was changed

>Why would Manhattan allow that?'
Because Clark doesn't know that this is his Earth but minus 10 years and Manhattan is only Rorschaching people who know who he is

>Why couldn't Wally find him when he was pinballing around the place?
He only appeared to Bruce and Linda before he started pinballing everywhere

2 other people. when he died he shot off 4 beams, 2 of which hit lois and lana
>>
>>83372116
Oh, this is the Superman from convergence? Alright fair enough
>>
think I really liked this issue for what it was. I liked Tomasi's voice for Clark.

The ending was really great
>>
>>83372137
yeah. he and lois have been on this timeline for 10 years raising their son with clark doing secret missions to stop old villains of his from ever coming to this world and lois trying to expose intergang before it becomes a thing
>>
>>83372129

Look up DC 1,000,000 Superman Prime, it'll blow your mind.
>>
>>83372129
Well, he isn't at full power right now...
>>
Just read it agree with the score, it was really great.
>>
>>83372185
That's pretty cool
>>
>>83372136

I guess I was remembering the number wrong, just ignore the number in the post and replace it with whatever the right one is.
Because my main point is there may or may not be some number of people with bits of Superman "stuff" all up in them.
>>
It feels surreal. I've read Reign of Supermen as a kid, I didn't think that it would be relevant 20 years later
>>
>>83370282
>storyteller
What kind of shit credit is that? And complete insult to Mahnke.
>>
Freaking loved the issue. And boy, did Mahnke kill it on those flashback scenes. His mullet Superman was awesome.

I picked this up hoping it'll be a clean slate to start reading the new Superman series but I'm left confused like if I had picked up a series in the middle of an arc
Shame.mp3 on you DC
>>
It wasn't bad, but man talk about nothing really happening.

What is it with Tomasi that his writing always seems like autopilot, keep the book in a holding pattern until someone else decides to actually do something with it?
>>
>>83370352
It's in the exact same place as your fortress was you buffoon.
>>
SuperDad Superman line will be more stable than it ever was during the New 52.
>>
>>83370407
And suddenly he gives up. What crockshit
>>
Superman deals with the actual idea of a rebirth via Clark and Lana over Nuperman, but end in the rebirth of pre-52 Clark

I'll have to read the other books but so far I LOVE this sort of creative synergy. Common themes, but filtered through distinctly unique worlds. Nice one!
>>
>>83372390
Eh, they explained stuff at least.
>>
Another meh issue. Hopefully Green Arrow and Green Lanterns fare better
>>
>>83370582

I think Batman & Robin diverged from that. It was a fun book with something always happening.

I mean. It's pretty much a clean slate. The issue was just to establish status quo, which is pretty nice for new readers.
>>
>>83373137
if I'm not mistaken, /co has no high opinion of him. This issue was not bad, but it is just a celebration for the poor nu52 Supes.

>>83373179
It's split, some people on /co/ fall for his over the top melodramatic bullshit, others see through the poor writing and know he's a hack.

>>83374543
It does not mean they collaborate on writing and art. And Gleason drew nothing.

It was a good issue, though I liked Batman Rebirth more.

>>
>>83371997
>Dr Manhattan stole the red briefs, I TELL YOU.
I guess he got tired of his blue junk flapping in the wind.
>>
>>83370249
This clashes pretty hard with the idea that blackest night still managed to occur in new 52 according to the GL new 52 canon which was left mostly untouched apart from Kyle.
>>
>>83370237

>Superman not trusting Lana

...um...this is a good issue and everything, but Clark not trusting his childhood friend that kept the biggest secret on Earth with no difficulty is a weird writing decision.
>>
>>83370322
>>83370300
>>83370282

Sweet Jesus the artists made sweet, sweet love to Death of Superman. These pages are fucking gorgeous.
>>
yeah okay. the whole second superman with a son is interesting. I dig it. Lana's hot. I'll give this a shot.
>>
>>83370407

Eh I still doubt he'll stay dead, they're just removing the regeneration matrix from the equation to make his revival actually shocking instead of a "it's about time" thing.

>mfw I realized this is Death of Superman aftermath all over again

We got four Superman again:

>Lex, Man of Steel
>Clark Kent the original Superman
>Lois Lane, Superwoman,
>The Super-Man

How do they correspond, anons? My closest guess is:

>Chinese Supes is Superboy because young
>Lex is Cyborg because come on
>Lois is Steel because carrying his legacy without pretending to actually be him
>Clark is Eradicator because Kryptonian and plays a role in bringing him back
>>
I hope Post-Flashpoint Superman does come back though. The Twoperman dynamic couldve been a good one
>>
>>83377098
I think Superwoman and Superdad are not going away. New Super-Man will probably get jobbed out by Lex who wants to be the only superman.
>>
>>83377148
Like Parker/Reily or Thor/Thunderstrike.
>>
>>83377098

Ehhh...I'm thinking that Lex is more on the line of Steel. He hasn't seemed to have any ulterior motive thus far, and even when he had Darkseid's power flowing through his veins, he STILL prioritized saving Earth over anything else. Of course, I don't think he's completely turned himself around because, come on, but I don't think he's a secret villain here.
>>
>>83376934
Show me where Gleason and Tomasi contributed to the art. I'm clearly a blind idiot.
>>
>>83377187
Truly, we are living the the 90s 2.0.
>>
>>83370282
Bravo, Mahnke
>>
It'll be funny if one of those energy bolts hit Lex and suddenly he has a fucking conscience in his head, telling him to be good.
>>
I don't like how quickly OldSupes gives up on bringing back NuSupes. Why did Lana "JUST KNOW" that he was dead-dead?
I like the statue bits though.

>>83373129
>>83373137
>>83371076
He had the regeneration thing in Last Son?
>>
I decided to check out the storytime because anons kept crowing about how great this issue was, but outside of the Doomsday recap it wasn't very good at all. Just a lot of going nowhere. And why does Lang know the location of the Fortress of Solitude? "I just know" isn't an answer. What, were they psychically linked or something? She also seemed to take this dude giving her hope that Clark could come back, and then having it not pan out, REALLY well for someone who should be wracked with grief.

Bleh.
>>
>>83370156
Fuck me, that looks fantastic.
>>
>>83377872
>Why did Lana "JUST KNOW" that he was dead-dead?
Because she and Lois were both hit with his dying bolts. It looks like she got his knowledge while Lois got his power.
>>
tl;dr:

New 52 Superman was a waste of time, let's move on and enjoy the real one.

>You mean Snyder's rebirth. King only wrote what Snyder ordered him to.

That is unlikely since Doyle is the person that is ultimately in charge of the Batbooks and not Snyder. If Bateditorial was still pro-Snyder like it was during the Marts era, stuff like Grayson and HipsterGirl would never have gotten off the ground.

Whatever working arrangement is probably similar to what Seely/King had on Grayson.

I think it's rather that Tomasi is a type of writer that can be very strong in certain cases or Michael Bay levels stupid in other cases. Writing heroes like Batman/Superman as parents was one of his strengths given his perspective. Shit like Superman/Wonder Woman was heads on pants retarded.

I enjoyed the issue. It set the future up very nicely.

My bet is that Superdad is the real Superman, with the Nuperman being a simulacrum created by the Dr. Manhattan who was trying to "right the universe" after someone else manipulated it in the wake of Flashpoint.

Just because they didn't draw anything doesn't mean they were hands off on the art.

They wrote the script and broke down the panels.

Pak and Kuder did the same thing during their run on Action Comics. I remember #44 had the same type of credits w/ Porter on art.

It's not a slight against Mahnke, he's just not as involved with the plotting and story direction.

Ah, hell yeah. The Death of Superman.

The very comic that kicked off the Comics Collector's crash and collateral assraep of DC and Marvel back in 1996.

/a/ says hi, and thanks you for bringing up this topic just for how this event brought in Anime to the American continent masses all because of the shitstorm this caused.

Hope they can get a Lobo movie in before everything goes south further

I think people who say Superman gave up on bringing back 52Supes too easily aren't thinking hard enough about it. Superman died once and already knows the specifics of what it took to bring him back and he can see that the things needed simply aren't present. I also would say that he hasn't exactly given up, but has shelved the idea for now in favour of being the 52verse's Superman. It's obvious when they do bring 52Supes back, Post Crisis Supes will have a major role in it.

>>
Wasn't a big fan of this issue. Instead of focusing on the "rebirth" of Superman, the whole issue is spent saying goodbye to the old one. Like we did get enough of that in the previous 8 issues. They could have at least given us the new costume, every other book did.
>>
>>83372074
Well...technically there is going to be the mysterious new Clark Kent wandering around. The solicits made it seem he wasn't gonna be PF Superman either.

>>83383665

>>
I dunno. This felt really stiff in terms of dialog. Clark sounded way to formal, like he was an alien that just landed on earth as apposed to an alien that had spent his entire life on Earth. Also it was basically "HE KIDS REMEMBER THE TIME SUPERMAN DIED?" the issue
>>
>>83386946
On one level, he still doesn't believe this is his Earth, so he probably does feel like an alien. On another, not only was the DoS refresher a parallel to N52 Superman's death, but it also foreshadows the first arc of Action where he'll be fighting Doomsday again.
>>
can you post all the in-house ads too
>>
How did Superman come to the conclusion that the New 52 Superman couldn't come back to life?
>>
>>83387184
Because what he used to come back didn't seem to exist in that world.

Although now this makes me wonder why he didn't try to use it for Kal-L.
>>
>>83387670
>Because what he used to come back didn't seem to exist in that world.

Not to mention that when pre-52 Superman died, his body was still intact. New 52 Superman was insta-cremated.
>>
>>83387670
It didn't exist in the Fortress of Solitude, that doesn't mean it doesn't exist in the world.

I'm not arguing for the return of New 52 Supes, it just seems to weird to have Superman just randomly give up because two robots couldn't find a creation matrix within the Fortress.
>>
>>83386881

I taste sweet tears of denial
>>
Have they explained why Older Superman's powers are wonky yet? Also I am both happy and sad that this seems to be permanent. I just hope they don't ruin this superman by changing his core character too much from pre nu52. Either way happy to see some continuity from Superman of the 90s great call back and art there.
>>
>>83387798
Wspecially when he himself should know that there's plenty of ways to bring back a hero that don't involved the shit he used.

I didn't read it as him thinking new 52 Supes couldn't come back though. Just him realizing that waiting wasn't doing anyone any good.
>>
>>83370468
It's hilarious how nobody found it obvious and went with retarded theories like "Pre flashpoint Superman will replace nu Superman and nu Superman is actually Kon-el/Mon-el".
>>
So basically this issue was a meta message to fans that "Yes, one of Superman's most memorable stories was that he died and came back to life. That's not what's happening here. New 52 Superman is dead for good and pre-Flashpoint Superman is in."

It's the right call in my opinion. /co/ loves to suck New 52 Superman's dick, but he's pretty much hated everywhere else. If the plan is to bring back the history and legacy of the DC Universe, this is the best way to do it since Superman's entire pre-Flashpoint history was erased in the New 52 reboot. As a huge fan of pre-Flashpoint Superman, I'm hype as hell for what comes next.
>>
>>83388033
I love the Mon-El theory just because it's insane but I think he's reincarnated Kal-L and they'll both coexist in the long run somehow.
>>
So if nu52 supes is really dead then who is that Clark Kent that will be showing up in Action Comics? Just Superdad posing as nuClark? Because that would just raise further questions

Kinda, its subjective. Pa Kent essentially was in the bridge between life & death after having a heart attack after Supes' death. He found Clark's soul and helped him break out of the afterlife...then Clark came back to life like 2 months later.

Earth-2 Superman wasn't even "Kal-L" though, he was called Kal-El. He had living parents and apparently never even went through the early aggressive phase that the original Golden Age Superman and New 52 Superman went through (based on the first arc of Batman/Superman).

After 52, before Flashpoint, there was an "Earth-2" which similar, but wasn't actually the original Earth-2 (It had its own Powergirl, for example). The New 52 Earth-2 is presumably a rebooted version of that, rather than the original one.

Fuck, this actually broke my heart. What a sad end for a great Superman. He had more variety in 5 years than most other versions of the character had in 25.

People say that the original Death of Superman "meant something", but I was fucking 8 years old when that happened, and even I knew it was a marketing ploy. I knew Superman didn't die. I knew he would come back because people loved him, and DC couldn't do that. I knew he had to just be resting or in a coma or whatever. It meant nothing to me.

Meanwhile, this Superman died because nobody liked him. Neckbeards pissed and moaned "not muh", and declared he was too edgy, so DC replaced him. I want to say he'll be back, but at the same time, I could see them leaving him dead, and that fucking sucks, man. He was great.

That one panel, realizing that Lana is burying him with his parents... what a rough life this Superman led. That single panel made me feel more upset than the entirety of the hamfisted Death of Superman arc, because that one panel is real. It's not an event, it's not wallowing in its own grandiosity or spectacle, it's not trying to sell the comic. It's just a hero who died and is being laid to rest with his family.
>>
>>83372193
Pfft. Talk about an overhyped character.

He one-shots Solaris after Solaris is nearly dead and everyone creams themselves thinking that he's the biggest, strongest Superman ever with reality warping and everything. He doesn't do shit. Everyone else does everything for him.

Rebuilding Lois? An Imp from the 5th Dimension does it for him. Bringing Krypton back to life? Justice League does it for him. Destroying Solaris? Green Lantern ring.

SSJuperman is basically like if Batman got his reputation for preptime by just showing up at a bus stop before the bus gets there.

I loved them years later when I reread them and had more perspective about what Superman was all about. Reading All-Star off the bat just confused the hell out of me.
>>
>>83400665

At least this Superman had a send off. Its better than just being erased from the timeline and never, ever being mentioned again like the treatment Wally got in Nu52.
>>
>>83402320
Better to be happy that he lived than have to pretend he never lived at all.
>>
I'm really excited for DC after reading this.
>>
Good to have ol' post crisis Supes back.
>>
>>83404496
This. I actually liked some Nu52 Superman stories but having him replace the legend so completely was a mistake.

Nobody tell me "Shut up, Post-Crisis fag." You know damn well they folded his crazy history before that into what he was.
>>
>>83403884
So far aside from the Johns one-shot none of these have had better than mediocre writing, but DC seems like they're at least making an effort to suck less and that's worth at least being cautiously interested in.
>>
>>83382933
Mahnke drew the art, he's telling the story. They could've used writer, breakdowns, plotter or any other credit. By using story teller for them and not Mahnke they're effectively saying Mahnke is not the one telling this story. It is indeed a slight against mahnke for he is the artist and the most important component in this comic.

yeesh

I don't agree that All Star and Kingdom Come would confuse new readers and they have to have read a bunch of Superman to get it. If they're daft maybe, otherwise they're fine stories to jump into.
>>
>>83409638
ASS is really not good starter material for Superman. there's a lot of concepts that will simply throw the casual readers off
>>
>>83409790
I don't get this argument, i'm sorry. Like anything else, they might get some more references and allusions if they'd read other stuff, but it works on its own too, perfectly. It's a comic, and a silver age one at that, zany hijinks ensue and it's up to the reader to suspend disbelief and enjoy the ride. Besides some callbacks, it's pretty straight forward.
>>
>>83407424
>I'm more impressed someone remembered Bloodwynd existed.

But who IS this mysterious Bloodwynd?
>>
>>83407641
I still think of Post-Crisis Superman when I hear "Superman".

Many, many people do. More so than New 52,being honest
>>
>>83410669
And that's okay to do. But to say post-crisis Superman is the one true Superman is just ridiculous and untrue.
>>
>>83408904
>>83408904
This
>>
>>83409880
Not the guy you're talking to, but I would never suggest ASS to a new Superman reader. I suppose it's possible to ultimately "get" the book, but I don't think the average reader will appreciate it. In fact, I think the way it ultimately exaggerates and wallows in all of Superman's silver age madness, it is more likely to make someone hate the character if they didn't already like him.
>>
>>83410669
>I still think of Post-Crisis Superman when I hear "Superman".
I never really differentiated. Superman has had so many incarnations, and even during post-crisis, he changed depending on who wrote him. When I hear "Superman", I think of Superman. All of the worthwhile interpretations are so similar at the core, it seems pointless to draw lines in the sand.
>>
>>83412441
>>
>>83410779
New 52 """"""""""""""""""""""""""""""""Superman"""""""""""""""" is not the actual Superman and never was. He was ALWAYS a different character.
>>
>>83413092
Are you saying Kal-L isn't an actual Superman? Because that's clearly who the new 52 version is
>>
>>83406095
The most important component in a comic is the letterer.

But seriously the credits aren't that controversial. Mahnke is the Artist he did the art. Gleason and Tomasi crafted the story they are the Storytellers
>>
>>83406095
>>83413379
It's not a sleight against Mahnke. It's just kind of awkward because "storyteller" usually means "penciller also had input in the plotting and not just the execution"

Obviously colors are most important though, setting tone and all

>>DC Comics has announced a third printing of DC Universe: Rebirth #1, the one-shot that kicked off its Rebirth publishing initiative on May 5. Like the second printing, it will be square bound and retail for $5.99 - over twice the original release's cover price. DC says this third printing will have a new cover from Gary Frank, although it's unclear it if will be different from the second printing's cover which showed more of the reaching hand from the original printing. This third printing is scheduled to be released July 6.

In addition to this reprinting, the first wave of Rebirth title one-shots - Batman: Rebirth #1, Green Lanterns: Rebirth #1, Superman: Rebirth #1, and Green Arrow: Rebirth #1 - also sold out at a distributor level and are being reprinted by DC. These new second printings will carry what's a recolored Rebirth banner to differentiate it from the original print run.

Lastly, two of the final "New 52" era books which helps segue into the Rebirth storylines - Justice League #50 and Superman #52 - will receive new printings with recolored covers.
