What are your hopes for the Wonder Woman film?
>>
>>83334177
A complete overhaul with a new actress, better use of color in the visual style, and a completely different fight choreographer.

But that's not going to happen, so more realistically, I hope no one drags me to it.
>>
I'm not a fan of WW at all, and I didn't see BvS so I can't really speak for Gadot's performance. So I hope It's the best goddamn cape film of all time, because only the most glowing praise would bother me to go see it.

It'll be mediocre like every other cape film, and it'll either be picked apart by everyone, or it'll be embraced by the GRRRRLL POWER community. If SS is good I'll have higher hopes for the movie.
>>
That in spite of everything, it ends up being okay at least.

Because as a major WW motion picture and the first appearance of Wondy in the mainstream in years, it's absolutely nothing like what I wanted.
>>
>>83334230
The color palette has kind of grown on me.

But I agree that Warner Bros. should've cast a stronger female lead physically in structure and acting chops. As Marc Bernardin once said, "My penis should be afraid of Wonder Woman."
>>
idk, I haven't read much Wonder Woman, so I have no expectations.

Are her comics good?
Any post crisis trades I should pick up?
>>
>>83334177
That it will be entertaining.
>>
>>83334177
Nothing too much, mostly just a film with a tight narrative focus with interesting characters that are easy to care about.
>>
>>83334177
That it gets scrapped and never see the light of day. I'll happily go the rest of my life without a Wondy movie if it means avoid this kind of travesty.

And fuck all of you retards who are pulling for this garbage just because "MUH WWI". Nobody but disgusting history nerds give a single rusty fuck about WWI. Kill yourselves.
>>
Hopefully not visually bland and has decent characterizations. Moreover, something creative feature a wide variety of Greek monsters and deities. Azz's WW had interesting interpretations of the pantheon. Also I kind of want it to do well for the sake of seeing Giganta and Cheetah in the future

Some accurate depiction of Greek culture and mentality.

Having a hero like Achilles or Odysseus, kleos seeking and all that, would make an interesting comparison to more 'modern' heroes like Superman and Batman.

Would be an informative and fascinating to see that play out for people who are broadly unaware of what the word 'hero' has meant for the entire history of mankind until about 100-200 years ago.

I honestly want it to bomb. DC should have no encouragement whatsoever to continue making shitty films instead of doing what they're good at, and Gadot is constantly being praised as "the only good part of BvS", when she did so little it was hard to even get an impression of her.
>>
Who could even be the villain in a WW movie?

Nazis?
Ares?
A villain from the Superman/Batman roster?
>>
You know those movies about Angels (ie: The Prophecy) and how they're hiding in plain sight among us pretending to be human. (Or even vampire movies are the same). I want it to feel like that with the Amazons. Those beast-mode women at the gym. That CEO of that giant multinational. That fucking strong-willed woman working as a fireman. The war hero GI Jane marine with the purple hearts. They're all around us waiting for the call to war, like sleeper cells, although their allegiances are about to be tested.

She was the god of war before Azz's run? She did a pretty good job considering the rise in body count between WWI and II.
>>
>>83338012
The movie is set in WWI because WB knows it isn't as good as Marvel, so they are resisting comparisons between their movies and Marvel at all costs. They don't want people to think that they are trying to copy off of CA:TFA by having a WWII film, so they are putting it in WWI.

Honestly, it might make more sense if handled correctly. WW2 had a pretty strong good vs. evil dynamic with the nazi and japanese death camps and etc. WWI was just a huge clusterfuck with everyone getting shit on, and it might make more sense that Ares is pulling the strings to force that conflict.

Well if you look at the crew involved, it has full academy award winners and nominees, so on the movie's technical side I think it will be good.

As for the story, I'd like the movie to reconcile her warring educacion with her pacific ideals, and the conflict between how women see men, and how men really are, in essence, not warmongering cold bastards, but men with actual struggles and depths.

My Wishlist
-- 1.) Absolute most important thing... no misandry, especially from Diana herself. None of that new 52 type garbage with her grabbing & threatening to crush Orion's balls just for flirting with her. You wanna have her do such with a actual rapist fine, but do NOT do it over demands of "respect" and shit.
That will ruin the film faster then virtually anything else for me.
I'll tolerate the sex raids if the Amazons let them live afterwards and maybe use magic to make them forget.

-- Ares gets his traditional armor design.
-- The director & the script get that WW1 was a lot more ambiguous compared to WW2.
-- Etta has very limited screen time and is as least annoying as humanly possible.

Ironically enough, that's pretty much what they're doing anyway by having a superhero 'origin' story set in a past World War before taking it into the present day in later installments.

Honestly I'd rather we just got an origin set in modern times. Nothing about WW's origin says that this needs to be set in WW1, aside from them going for the whole, "Diana is disillusioned from humanity," thing which is stupid and doesn't sound like Wondy at all anyway really.

After her abysmal performance in BvS I don't get how people still defend this talentless woman. She brings less than nothing to her performance. She does not look like an Amazon warrior. She does not move like one. She does not sound or act like one. It's a stretch to say she even meets the criteria for an actress rather than a particularly lively strip of cardboard.

We were told for years we would eat our words about Gal Gadot when we saw her dominating the silver screen, but it never happened. She was awful. How is pushing out this movie while knowing full well their lead is a complete failure going to lead to anything but a box office war crime?

because they don't know how to do drama with Wonder Woman, so they came up with something contrary to what she always stood for.

And I believe Patty wouldn't do that if it wasn't established by Snyder first. She would probably set it in modern day too if it was up to her.
>>
>>83362830

Besides, Lex' footage shows her in Paris in 2012, before the events of Man of Steel that canonically happened in 2013.

Also, they keep saying how she has "been around for a long time" and they even said in an interview about the solo movie how she has had 100 years of experience. If she left the world and came back only now, she wouldn't be experienced.

Most of them are very athletic but have very small/petite frames and one of my sisters has worked out religiously since HS but just cannot get barely any visible muscle tone, she actually looks only slightly bigger than Gadot. Gadot may be one of these people and if so that's just something she can't help. Still, if that's the case she shouldn't be playing WW who should appear to have some significant definition.

Mankind may still have lots of problems, but if she stayed here for 100 years and even helped people, she wouldn't be so cynical about mankind. There has been improvements. She may still think humanity has a lot of potential do fuck up, but "standing together is impossible" is a bold statement when we have had numerous moments of people standing together for something.

This really bothers me. And no I don't actually think comicbook movies have to be colorful or whatever. But these DC movies really bothers me a lot because it's not just that they are so devoid of color, it's that every damn movie has the same kind of color treatment and thus feels the same. It's like the only difference is what shades to color everything in. Whether or not its subdued brown, or desaturated blues, or monochrome greys.

Why do all these movies strip the color and life out of the pictures only to smear one singular color theme over it all?
If you have a wide varity of characters and IPs to work with like with the DC universe, capitalize on it and characterize and present them differently. Do a super colorful Superman movie and a desaturated Batman movie and so on and so on. You have ample opportunities to give them their own style and we're just left with everything looking the same.

Idk why people hated him so much. A youtuber I like said this Lex has autism and its poor representation. He also didn't like that Lex was beat by his father. But honestly his father hitting Lex makes Jesse's Lex more sympathetic. I wanna see flashbacks of Lex sr. Bryan Cranston should play him. I am glad I enjoyed Jesse's Lex. This is because I watched spoiler reviews before the movie. This isn't fully formed Lex yet like Henry Cavill isn't fully formed Supes yet. These movies are not perfect but Jesse's Lex is better than a lot of MCU villains. It is crazy that these comic youtube shows complain about MCU villains sucking, yet still hate on BVS Lex. When I think of Lex Luthor, I don't think of a spergy nerd with a high voice, who people only listen to because of his position, who comes off as a pathetic loser in desperate need of respect. I think of a manly badass with a deep, baritone voice, who commands respect by virtue of the creed that is Lex Luthor.

Eisenberg was a terrible casting choice.

This movie is about a comics character.

I know, but CBMs are bad representations of comic book characters.

But its the orgin most ppl know her by.

Very debatable. Besides, it could be done very differently even if it was WW2, but it's not even WW2.

Also, the whole "retiring for 100 years" thing is unnecessarily like Caps as well. If she had been Wonder Woman during all this time, that would give her a huge originality against Captain America.

Not to mention that Cap being frozen worked for Cap since it wasn't voluntary. He wanted to be part of the world but had no choice and was left out.

>look at all this stuff I've neglected
Has nowhere near as much impact as
>look at all this stuff I've missed!
