I hope buddibomb is okay in there
>>

Doc has Presence of Mind. Good show. Hey, maybe that should be an RPG trait or something...

That Buddibomb looks like a jester.

Maybe we're gonna get a moment for them to take stock and freak out that they're now three feet tall.

Where the hell are Wally and Co watching this from? The comic seems to be sidestepping the issue like crazy over the last set of strips...

it's too early to ruin the thread, kirbro
>>
>>83313678
Kinda feels like Aaron hit the limit for that storytelling format so he's just said "fuck it" and gone full-flashback.

Maybe we'll see it "explained" by showing Wally and Co. watching it in a ditto movie theatre at the end.
>>
>>83313870
I like to think they're just hovering watching everything unfold. I mean if they could fly at the beginning of the ditto flashback...

I want a version of this with Holly talking about the jacuzzi now.
>>
So, are they outside or just in the basement?
>>
>>83314852
judging by the trash cans and whatnot, they may be outside. I predict they'll either make their way somewhere underground for when the bombs drop, or we'll get a jump vision to the pep cola stadium where we'll get to see walt in all his glory leading a band of newly mutated mutants to safety.
>>

Due to its closeness to a Topsider colony, it's heavily defended, with anyone physically fit enough going on guard shifts. People are only excused from shifts if they either have medical skills, scientific knowledge, or volunteer for a scavenging mission. Scavenging missions were rendered redundant once proper farms were built and Pier Villa became self-sufficient, but those either desperate or suicidal enough can still go. The entire thing is relatively stable due to the pressure put on by Murks, but once they're out of the equation, Pier Villa could potentially collapse in on itself

The entire thing is relatively stable due to the pressure put on by Murks, but once they're out of the equation, Pier Villa could potentially collapse in on itself

So basically in a way they're like Topsiders - the minute the danger is gone, the whole thing would collapse like a house of cards because people would start "getting ideas" instead of being ready to fight 247
>>
>>83328522
It wasn't that, some anons just pointed the fact that Wally was being hypocrite defending the topsiders but then he let all the lizards die. Not that he shouldn't let the fuckers die, but then: why he saved the topsiders? And no, i'm not implying the fact that Flask was right, because she wasn't.

>>83328577
>Were they even originally from that colony or did they take it over?
Apparently the lizards of Unity just grew in population over the other species and decide to have the place for them.
>How many times do you think they had nothing but fertilized lizard eggs, and just pretended they weren't fertilized or lizards just so they could eat?
Why eat your own people when the wasted can provide your food?
When Holly is trying to enter into the ring in her back you can see a poster that says: "Phil Vs. Outsider", now ask yourself: why did they do with the bodies? I remember that Chic mentions to Holly that the food that the lizards gave to her and Jim had somniferous, you can deduct that the lizards ate every single scavenger that put a food into their colony

Exactly. And in a way, the citizens of Pier Villa are "Topsiders", since they live aboveground. That's why I called the Topsider group Murks and not Topsiders, since it wouldn't make sense unless your colony lived underground, and there are no underground groups in San Fran.

Wally and Co. almost certainly smell horrible, Wally and Holly more than Kirbee and Chic. All they've got between them is Wally's backpack, which was mostly full of Holly when they left, if memory serves - likely little in the way of sanitary aids - maybe a comb and some soap? Water is visibly scarce, though...

Of course, they could potentially take dust baths using the omnipresent dust of the Waste.

>That in itself could be a problem.
Remember to apply the cartoon logic here, millions of times Bugs bunny has sweaty and never has complained about wet fur unless it's part of the joke.
>>
>>83357143
Yeah. If anything, it would be better if they didn't sweat. With all that fur, it would smell bad and weigh them down. Besides, humans sweat in order to cool off their skin. Fur, feathers, and scales act like clothes, preventing sweat from evaporating. Hell, it would be especially terrible for animals with hydrophobic fur or feathers.
Tl;dr: furries sweating is bad.
>>
>>83357262
>The makeup in the Flask's face ruins the pic for me.

idk i think she looks charming
>>
>>83357240
It's pretty much just humans who can sweat in large amounts to cool down. Horses and primates can sweat from their armpits and has others have mentioned cat/dogs can sweat very lightly from their paw pads.
>>
>>83357143
>>83357362

mutants may have some weird hybrid ability to sweat, but it's more likely they follow cartoon logic and only sweat because it's a cartoon trope that shows nervousness.
>>
>>83357262
True, cartoon logic seems to be the basis of their behaviour, but the comic is at least partially about showing what happens when you apply cartoon logic to the real world (cat goes crazy on a diet of beans and wants to eat the first mouse he corners, catnip is a hard drug, the cow lady needs constant milking, everyone has body issues).

Honestly, sometimes it feels like the entity or force behind the anthro part of the mutagenic virus (assuming there is one) didn't think it all the way through.

There might be a "continuum of animality" at work here - on one end you have people like that crab fellow, on the other, people like Flask, who was so humanoid that she considered herself an incomplete mutation. There might also be differing species (ie: grizzly vs black), or perhaps a varying mix of species traits from within one family.

Meg looks like a bear that has more "Boo-Boo" than "Yogi" to me, with a low dosage of "bear figure" letting her keep a more human one.

>She might not even know herself.

I'd imagine there's more than a few mutants who aren't really certain what they are, especially since Endtown apparently lacks a vet and we've yet to see a zoologist around.

Hue.

I think the Ghost dittos idea is the best, though I can definitely see two ideas being mixed together. Say the outer ring of the Exclusion Zone being the Ghost dittos or perhaps Death Valley, but past that in the center would be the Unsafe Bubble area, a mutant Safe Haven, or Chernobyl. Like you got past the gates, but you have to go through what they were holding in to find the good stuff. Exactly how big is the Exclusion Zone?
>>
>>83362764
The entirety of Los Angeles and the smaller cities nearby. The "sweet spot" is Downtown, where everyone is trying to go. I guess I could combine a few, kinda make it layered between different hazards just to get to the center

Alright, that's good to know then. I was going to say have it be cut into sections and use the more developed ideas as areas that lead from one place to another, with Downtown being the final destination, sort of like S.T.A.L.K.E.R., but I think you're trying to avoid that.

Anyways, as I said, I find the Ditto idea to be the best for screwing with the player's characters, though I'm also fond of the Death Valley idea to really put the stress on both the players and their characters, think outside the box to survive the sandstorm. Is the Zone pretty much Chernobyl, lots of freaky, unexplainable anomalies like electricity flowing through fields and invisible tornadoes, and horrifying mutants galore, but no radioactive-magic artifacts?

I was betting there was some large throbbing half-mutant out there with triangular scales. He sheds these scales sprout limbs and a face around the scale making it a head. The half-mutant is kind of a draconian asshole so all his scales are like that as well.

>>In his last email Aaron hinted that the security rats might not be mutants.
>>83369904

I bet they were an attempt to reverse-engineer the "virus", maybe even a test of a potential "cure", probably involving Mallard. Instead of making humans a bit more animal, they ended up making their lab rats a lot more human.

I think one of the rats is mentioned to have family, and they're also not all on security - one was getting paid to swim around in beans, for instance. So they may not be clones like some people have theorised, and do have some independence, unless all that stuff was from before Aaron established a backstory for the rats as a whole and has been quietly retconned.

But her motives to doing it was always revenge, at least for me her plan was just too stupid because she always knowed all the time that the topsiders were building a rocket to launch a satellite and never tell anyone because she was so narcissistic that thought the topsiders wouldn't able to complete the project without her (thing they do) and that she could handle the situation (thing she didn't).
And in the end, even if the rocket wasn't a decoy and Flask managed to pull a 9/11 to the topsiders, that would have mean nothing to them, just a loss colony, but they would really angry I said that enough to make the mutant hunting more brutal than it aready is.

Every time there's a late update, I picture Aaron sitting in a large chair facing away the door in his den. He's wearing a fancy robe. The walls all lined with large bookshelves. Fireplace crackling quietly as Aaron stares into the flames. He sips on a glass of whisky, and continues to just stare into the flames. A light rapping on his door is heard. Selina pops her head in, and says, "Aaron? Hon? It's almost noon. Have you updated your comic?"

Aaron doesn't look over, he just sips his drink. Neither of them utter a word. "One more."

Selina, "hm?"

Aaron, "one more hour. Then I'll upload. They haven't suffered enough..."

Selina, "I understand." And she closes the door quietly.

>fan comics

Guy you're responding to said "guest comics", implying stuff from fellow webcomic creators (They could run the Endtown sequence from Doc Rat or something, maybe - I'd love to finally see that, that comic's archives are a mess), but if that doesn't suit you, just imagine a new adorable buddibomb picture three times a week for a month.

Here's the bigger version, if the last panel is something to go by they are in the middle of the street and possibly still in danger.

No wonder she's still in full on flight mode.
She's probably not even thinking straight anymore, just running in any direction that doesn't have a walking grenade, a hazmat sporting gunner, or Cthulhu monster waiting for her.
I wonder at what point the average person would became a gibbering mess of fear and paranoia.

Well you can say that Holly was your "average high class" person but it also depends of the type of person, for the moment Doc is handling good but i'm sure that Holly is not the only one freaking out specially since everyone is transforming and there's explotions everywhere.
