I always felt like symbiotes had so much more potential than writers gave them.

I mean you've got a shape shifting solid/liquid entity that can be controlled at speed of thought and to some extent has a mind of its own. Said entity also enhances many of the wearers physical characteristics. However instead the only thing that writers ever seem to use them as is as a scary muscle suit.

Carnage is maybe the only wearer that ever really scratched the surface of what the symbiote is capable of, though I can't say I care for the bizarre direction his current book has headed.

And I'm probably gonna wait for a Mysterio figure. I need him for my first arc.
I have figures of Agent Venom, Anti-venom, Toxin, and Carnage for the main team. I probably will have to use Ultimate spider-woman for Scorn and pic related for Mania, because I don't see them having figures anytime soon. Spaceknight Venom is getting a figure though, so I can even have him in it for the beginning before he goes back to his Agent Venom outfit.

Other figures I plan on using
- generic monsters for Mysterio's first appearance
- Spider-Carnage, Select Carnage (I have him pre-ordered), a red and black bionicle, Scarlet Spider (Kaine), hoodie Scarlet Spider's head on Daredevil's body, and possibly a red and black Halo elite for my alternate earth Carnages.
- Jack-O-Lantern

Mysterio doesn't have a figure, but he was included on a poll, to get a figure, and even though he didn't win, him and the other losers are pretty likely to get figures.

So random symbiote related question that I was contemplating the other day:

If a host has a symbiote mimic a removable article of clothing, like say a jacket, can the said host willingly remove the jacket? If so, what happens to said "jacket" (since it isn't actual cloth and all)? Does that piece of the symbiote just die and get regenerated locally?

The 1995 Holiday Special (pic related) seems to suggest that the answer be no, it would not be able to be removed. As in the comic, when Eddie is dressed as Santa, the thugs messing with him cannot remove the Santa hat.

Do you think the host would have to will the jacket away and have the symbiote recreate the same outfit, sans jacket? Being unable to remove the article of clothing seems a bit challenging for keeping a low profile (i.e. you visit someone's house and they offer to take your jacket/hat/etc and you cannot remove it).

Any thoughts?

It also happened in the Spider-Man / Fantastic Four mini series. But how "canon" that is, is pretty questionable. The whole thing was meant to fill in 616 continuity goofs, but just ended up fucking things up even more.

In one of the issues (#2, I think), the whole focus is re-explaining how the symbiote broke out of the Baxter Building after Peter was separated from it. It bonds to Johnny for a few seconds and its forced off of him when he flame ons.

A new Planet of The Symbiotes arc where a group of heroes and villains get bounded to their own symbiotes and need to go full crazy to defeat a invasion of Xenophage that specifically engineered a symbiote invasion by baiting them to eart so that they'd eat them along with their hosts.

At the end the symbiotes the heroes and villains have fuse into a even more powerful Hybrid to pull of a heroic sacrifice to save their hosts and die in the process.

Honestly, there's not enough of that sort of thing, even if they'd be too similar to their default outfits. Seeing a little subtly in how organic their suits look instead of the gratuitous amounts of teeth and long tongues symbiotes are known for would be refreshing.
