So Dan Abnett made it sound like the bulk of the immediate follow-up for the DCU Rebirth storyline was going to be done in his Titans comic, which starts in June. However, judging from a couple other threads it seems like a lot of people haven't read it yet. SO I'M HERE TO FIX THAT.
Strap in, folks.
>>83284547
I personally don't have a lot of background with the Titans, apart from the CN cartoon. And that line-up is in a completely different book post-Rebirth.
Still I think this is a good intro to the general structure of the team and the characters if you're new like me.

Speaking of Abnett in Rebirth, he's got an interview out talking about his work on Aquaman too.

>" And further down the road, Abnett and DC Chief Creative Office Geoff Johns will be working together on "Rise of the Seven Seas," a storyline Johns teased when he was on "New 52"'s Aquaman title."

>>83284716
lol, good luck with that Abnett.
But maybe Johns just gave Abnett his blessing to tell the story without him or will be co-plotter or something. Since he's apparently doing Harras' job for him and Abnett seems to be one of the writers to follow on Johns' Rebirth/Darkseid War plots.
>>83284783
>>83284585
It's a decent update to the the '66 Titans lineup. Mal and Karen are both completely different characters for no reason. IDK if Tempest has appeared in the Aquaman books before now, but he's changed too. Everyone else is at least consistent with their New 52 characterizations.

>>83285132
She doesn't really have much background
She's one of the least important Titans. Like even in Titan reunions she usually gets left out since people focus on the fab five, so even Garth has that over her.
She was basically Raven 2.0 in the late 90s/early 00s since Jurgens and the other writers were pretty much banned from using Raven since she was a golden aura or something.

I dunno why I'm hyped for Titans withWallybc I don't really dig this. Fun to pick up all the obvious Flash hints tho
>>83285132
Lilith was a psychic/mysterious cage dancer the team met at a nightclub when they were all still teenagers. She can see the future and has premonitions and stuff. In the 90's they find out she's Mr. Jupiter's daughter (Mr. Jupiter was the richest man in the world and sponsored the Teen Titans as a public service/social activist group in their v1 no-costume era) and she joins the Jurgens not-Teen Titans team as Omen. She never did much.
She's Raven without the demon powers, basically.
>>83285350
>>83285357
This mini feels super decompressed to me, which is a problem. Feels like this could've been done better in six issues rather than eight.
>>83285301
Well, you could say that Raven is Lilith 2.0, since she was a member of the Titans in the second part of their first runthat is also the shittiest one since all the member abandon their costumes for the biggest part of it and the stories, while still being silly like the first part (and, really, most of the silver age's stories) tried to act as if they were serious

Abnett was supposed to get 12 issues and this was clearly the "Wally West returns" book, but DC interrupted it part way through to set up Rebirth with Wally as their figurehead, so Titans Hunt got cut down on issues to 8. So the first 5-6 issue arc got stretched out too long to lead into Rebirth and the big reveal Abnett was building up was taken out from under him.

It's everything right until this point?
Because it would look like that they were actually going to insert the "10 years stolen" plot twist for the whole DC universe in this saga like >>83285668 said
>>83286983

>And now the Titans are going to remember the fact that they were once part of that team that technically didn't ever exist in New 52 Earth
>>83286983
Pretty much. They are bringing back JSA and The Legion too.
They are going play out Nu52 as a nefarious plot to alter the world and return most of the universe to how it was before.
But they are still doing some time-whammy shenanigans as Damian will star in a separate Teen Titans team that includes characters like a young Raven so presumably some characters will remain de-aged and without previous memories.

Well the sales on this were horrible so, it was smart to move the reveal to a book people would actually buy
So Lilith is definitely into Roy. Right? Or am I crazy? Either way I ship 'em.
>>83292213
That's too bad. I like it. Especially the first few issues when it's pretty character-driven. The mood is interesting too, with the missing memories, the sense of loss and unbalance permeating everything.
So what's the deal with Twister and the thing he was trying to summon? Has it been in other books?
>>83292173
No he existed beforehand, but when Barry put the universe back together at the end of Flashpoint, there were ten years stolen from the timeline which erased some people from the continuity and changed a bunch of other characters into the New 52 continuity we know.
It still all technically happened (HYPERTIME, BITCHES), but nobody remembers it and the universe is starting to snap back now with Rebirth.

Krul's TT run was probably the absolute nadir of the series before the New 52. I think it's kind of impressive just how much worse Lobdell's managed to be.
I think the key question for the new Titans run is when Roy's going to get his cat back.

So this Roy Harper knows he's a superhero that hangs out with Red Hood and Starfire? Cause he's acting like he's never been a superhero and lived his whole life as a civilian.
>>83284654
that's don ramon
>>83292772
>Cause he's acting like he's never been a superhero and lived his whole life as a civilian.
Heroing is a hell of a drug.
>>83285614
Why is Alfred always so fucking based?
>>83292877
Why does he not know the name Speedy? Did Red Hood and the Outlaws write him out as a heroin addict?
>>83292772
He's back on the sauce. And Abnett like most writers doesn't read the other books the characters he's writing are showing up in
If you enjoy the characterizations of Roy and Dick from their appearances outside of this, prepare to be disappointed by Titans Hunt and Titans.
They are about to shackled by a team of literally who's that need to be built up scratch and as the only non-powered ones they are going to get the roles of clueless and frightened
And this going to be a Wally-centric book for at least a year
>>83293003
They should just title it Wally West and the Titans like they did with Birds of Prey.
>>83292933
>Why does he not know the name Speedy?
You had one job Roy, and you got hooked on the wrong drug.
>>83293073
The Garth fansall three of themwould boycott
>>83293003
Alright so this is just a weird characterization of him. Not an alt version of the nu52 Roy.
I was confused cause I thought maybe this was pre52 Roy who manifested in the nu52 as some civilian separate from the nu52 Speedy that was remembering he was a hero once.
Really it is actually Red Arrow experienced hero being written weird and acting like he's never been a hero when he has and is remembering erased memories. All while acting like he's new to the superhero game when he's one of the more experienced ones.
>>83292415
Its pretty obviously the Antithesis. Wiki Mr. Twister/Gargoyle and the Antithesis and Limbo.
>>83292466
That wasn't what happened. Barry remembers Wally, but he remembers him dissapearing alongside the Titans. He remembers the N52 history.
But in Titans Hunt, strangely enough, there wasn't a Wally in those flashbacks.
>>83293232
And further to compound my confusion there are characters like Mal and Bumblebee who came into nu52 as civilians and no memory of being a hero remembering their lost lives. But Roy despite acting like he's the same as them is not.
>>83293140
I doubt Garth has that many fans tbqh
>>83292772
>>83293003
>>83293232
>>83293290
It is a good thing that Dan Abnett is ignoring Red Hood and the Outlaws. Other writers should do the same and just ignore everything Scott Lobdell writes.
>>83293073
Its always been Dick's team. Wally barely mattered after the early 80s.
>>83293232
You could say that Roy didn't see his work with the Outlaws as heroic.
>>83293440
Too bad he's ignoring Grayson as well
>>83293467
No what >>83293440 said is more accurate. The writer is ignoring another comic series to do what he wants with being concerned with the continuity.
>>83293552
Huh? Dick starts out with his Grayson setup in this book. Just because Abnett isn't explicitly referring to details from the book doesn't mean he's treating it like it doesn't exist.
>>83293453
But he's about to matter big time. Wally's current power level is equal to the Justice League.

Senpai-a-lam setting does not equal characterization
From the horses mouth:
http://www.newsarama.com/29477-wally-west-led-titans-to-unlock-the-mystery-of-rebirth.html
"the fact that Nightwing has been Nightwing, Robin, Batman, Grayson — and rather than saying, well, that's what the continuity is, I'm saying there's a reason that he's never managed to fix a permanent identity for himself as a hero."
We did this shit already. Tim and Tom did a real good job with it too
>>83293387
I'm counting all fans from his first appearance until now. And I'm rounding up
>>83285545
Isn't that Tim's old costume?
>>83293929
No
Dick's has green pants and crotch arrow and shitty gray boots
>>83293929
No, but they're close to the same from the waist up except Dick's is worse.
And Dick's even worse from the waist down.
>>83294023
>>83294105
You know what, at first glance I thought this thing had some red sleeves on it. Without those, yeah, could be part of almost any Robin costume.
>>83287200
>>83287227
I still can't get over how awful that Robin redesign is.
>random black arms, black neck
>is it supposed to be a black under armor or shirt under the red and green armor??
>yellow random lines on the red part
>yellow circle?
>no yellow belt or belt in general?
>yellow lines connecting the red and green parts together?
>black and yellow cape
>GRAY BOOTS
>a FIFTH unnecessary color to a traditional eyesore of a costume
>gray knee protectors except it's on his shins for some reason??
>pointy shit on the boots
>not even the gauntlets like batman but the fucking BOOTS
>mfw the entire fucking thing
>>83294648
oh and how could I forget
>THE
>FUCKING
>CROTCH
>ARROW
>>83294717
It's like they want us to look at it.
>>83294752
>sticks pointing outward
>crotch arrow
>that bulge
So is DickRobin supposed to be for sexual now?
>>83291053
I thought Donna was dating Kyle before nu52.
Also how the guardians of the universe do not know this? I mean what have those smurfs been too? I remember a couple of them surviving.
I have not read DC in a couple of years outside prez, superman and new section 8
>>83288508
Also completely different styles of mask. The white one wraps down around the mouth too.
>>83291763
BEFORE Rebirth they were going to repeat Wally's story arc but with a black kid. That kid is still around too.
Now the story goes that Wally and and bunch of other characters were pruned from history by the being that manipulated time. So a lot of familiar faces are going to step out of whatever void they were being held in. Like the JSA.
And somebody from The Legion just appeared saying everything would be alright so we know they are restoring The Legion to canon too.
>>83288360
I like to think of it as the universe pushing back at Wally. He started to make them remember, and it produced an alternate explanation.
>>83294978
>now
>>83295508
adult robins are for sexual
that is an adult robin
>>83295485
Even before this point with Rebirth, remember when the Multiverse was recreated at the end of 52? We saw that it made a new version of Earth 2 with copies of the pre-Crisis JSA and Infinity Inc. while the "original" characters still remained on Earth-0.
It almost seems like the DCU has a base state, and attempts to deviate from it cause the universe to either recreate those missing parts from whole cloth, or to take other characters and elements of the setting and force them to assume that role instead.

Wolverine says this in Xmen origins
