Dear God. That was far and above better than I was expecting. They took a lot of liberties with the comics, but they retained the batshit spirit of it. Jesse, Tulip, Cass, Arseface and the Sheriff were all exactly how they ought to be.

Preacher was one of my first comics, and I love it as you can only love one of your firsts, and I'm not disappointed with this in the least bit. The only thing that could stop it is if it doesn't find an audience, and with something as completely batshit as this, it's totally possible.

Please don't let this insane miracle fail.

This honestly felt like Seth Rogen wrote out all of Garth Ennis' humor and replaced it with his.

I suppose this was the best Preacher adaptation we could have ever gotten. It's doing a lot of things differently, most of which don't bother me. The main thing that's bothering me though is how they made Jesse's dad a preacher. Being a preacher is supposed to had been something foisted on him by Grandma, something he deeply resents after being possessed by Genesis and learning how much of a tool God is.

I was expecting AMC to drop the whole "God is a tool" aspect, can't imagine that went well with test audiences. I just wasn't expecting the show to make Jesse actually devout.

This is the most lukewarm adaptation of Preacher we could have gotten. Some aspects are good such as arseface, Cassidy was actually kinda fun and others I feel are absolutely awful like the cartoonish Tulip and Jesse's dad being a fucking pussy.
