which comics, because when you say "closer to the comics this time" i want to know what you mean, the ducktales series had stories adapted straight from the barks comics.

and the character of bubba was just Princess Oona created by vicar but they turned her into a duckboy instead, Ducktales was very close to the comics.

what comics are you saying they are closer to, this time around?

>and the character of bubba was just Princess Oona created by vicar but they turned her into a duckboy instead, Ducktales was very close to the comics.

Oona was created later, and was a deliberate attempt to improve on the things that were done badly with Bubba.

Basically, Bubba was a Mary Sue. He LIVED WITH Scrooge to get him into as many stories as possible. Everyone except Scrooge loved Bubba and was always telling him how cool he was. He had a dumb, scene-stealing pet dinosaur that was supposed to be cute and acted like a baby for irritating "aww" factor.

Oona lives on her own, doesn't need a pet, and is funny because she's practically radioactive to the rest of the cast. She has a crush on Gladstone and is the one person who can jinx him.

If there's going to be a caveduck in these comics, Oona is the way to do it right.

Ducktales is a 30 year old show, anon.

Kids who watched it when it aired are in their mid to late 30s now, when the median age of 4chan is roughly 22.

I first started browsing 4chan regularly in 2008 (though I started going to /b/ occasionally in 2007 before migrating to other boards in '08), and I'm going to turn 26 soon. Boom had the license for both properties. They basically rushed the crossover through production before Disney could catch them. It's why they lost the license and it took a while for others to get it. It's also why it'll never be reprinted, to the guy wondering if they'd correct this crossover like they did the other stuff in the Omnibus sometimes. It's for all intents and purposes a bootleg.

Well, Rosa doesn't see DuckTales as being canon with his stories (in fact, he wanted to do a Scrooge comic story where he sues the makers of an in-story DuckTales cartoon for unlicensed use of his likeness) but did write his stories to include Barks' stories as well, while the Italian stories often blatantly contradict the Barks and Rosa stories. So, yeah, Barks/Rosa canon.

JIM CUMMINGS WHEN

>>
>>82987268
Except Rosa contradicts Barks often as well since Barks never bothered to make a continuity (remember how Scrooge got his fortune thanks to magic and also how he went on spaceships to outerspace, casually, and also how he had stories about satellites in the 60s despite Rosa's stuff being set in the 1950s?). Rosa's stories may be in continuity with certain Barks stories, but Barks stories aren't in continuity with Rosa's.
>>
>>82987300
Okay, fine, Rosa canon. Whatever.
>>
Martha Stewart______________ when? she is looking pretty old..
>>
>>82987330
Thank you. Rosa's great but it feels very frustrating that nowadays it seems unless you go to specific fansites people can't even appreciate Barks without seeing him through Rosa's spectrum (nevermind other duck authors)
>>
>>82987330
Barks specifically said something akin to Duckburg and everything is just backdrop for stories, there is fleeting or no canon in Barks.

Bill Murrey was kind of dick tho. He got the man who voiced Garfield aka Lorenzo FIRED from voicing Peter in the 80s Ghostubsters cartoon because Bill wanted someone who sounded more like him and less like Garfield. Lorenzo lost his job and was replaced by Full House actor Dave Coulier aka Joey.

So Bill Murrey got Lorenzo fired because he didn't want the guy who voiced Garfield to voice his Ghostbuster character but years after Lorenzo dies Bill Murrey has no problem stepping into Lorenzos shoes to voice Garfield in those two horrible live actions films for a pay check.

well that's completely wrong

Bill has said often he didn't even know what he was voicing for until it was extremely too late, and that he tried everything he could to make the 2nd one better when his contract forced him into it, but he couldn't do a thing about it.

fucking research, little guy

Only it's not!
Bill still got Lorenzo fired because he dislike that the guy who voiced Garfield was now voicing his Ghostbuster character.

It's not even an internet rumor. The story is told by the creators of the Ghostbusters cartoon in an on screen interview found on the very first volume of the Ghostbusters dvd box set.

Now, we all love DuckTales, but there was another show Alan Young was involved in, that some of us may be familiar with.

Alan Young voiced Keyop and 7-Zark-7, aka those characters nobody liked. However, I love storytiming curios, and this one fits the bill.

how about you guys actually talk about good tribute music unrelated to ducktales?

Because... its not about your fucking tastes its about something that he was a part of. Are you that dense? Want feel music? go to /mu/ want to honor someone? Play a song that has to do with that person's life's work.
>>
>>83013075
it's just getting annoying with all the "ducktales honor!!!!" shit, yea he was an inspiration in that and he was an amazing voice actor, but I know for a fact half of you guys know nothing of him outside of his VA work on Scrooge and like 1 other tidbit.

If you're going to "pay respects" for a guy, don't just do it from what correlated with you as a kid.
>>
>>82969756
I remember that in the first thread discussing this pic some anon voiced his hope for a Young's cameo in the reboot. As a ghost of Scrooge's father or in a flashback. A symbolic passing of the torch from one voice actor to another.

Unfortunately it won't happen now.

Funny thing is Young was also my Scrooge, even though I live in a post-commie country. In the late '80 we had only two channels of state run TV and before the local dubbing we had the original sound with a voice-over narration. My English was rather basic, I was but a little runt, but it didn't matter. Scrooge sounded right to my ears. Fuck, I feel old.
