Did anyone but me read the Hamilton Comics version they released in the 90's? It was spectacularly stupid but also amazing. Especially this issue. Kimberly is grounded and Zordon explicitly forbids the rangers from sneaking her out of her stepdad's house so that she can fight the monster of the week. It turns out that Zordon is really hardcore into traditional family values. Then it turns out that they need her because the monster of the week is a cowboy and so his natural weakness is Indians, which translates to being shot with Kimberly's power bow.

Also in that issue, Aisha is trapped in an existentialist nightmare and manages to defeat Lord Zedd because she knows more about Albert Camus than he does.

No, Jason David Frank (Tommy) was known for being a shameless prankster who was kind of an asshole to everyone when he was pranking them. David Yost (Billy) and him remained in contact over the years and are still fairly close, with Jason saying David was the best friend he had from back then who didn't hate him for being an asshole prankster to everyone.

David (Billy) actually has said from his earliest interviews, that the homophobia, anti-gay talk, etc. was all from the producers and crew of the show. The day he walked out, and quit, was when a cameraman referred to his as "the faggot" and called him a fag and faggot when David started to say something.

Granted, he didn't get any back up from his fellow castmates, including Jason (Tommy) but Saban had a zero tolerance policy for any kind of shit like this. When the original black, yellow, and red rangers demanded a pay raise, they were replaced. When David was told that they would do nothing to defend him, penalize any crew or producers for their hate speech, he knew he had to quit. So he did.
