Clinton was easier to lampoon. Granted, Obama was also easy to make fun of but it was tricky making jokes about him that didn't also involve his race, so even people who weren't worshiping him were trying to avoid it because it was so easy to have a joke backfire.

The thing with Obama is that the Republicans railed hard on him so the liberals and TV chose to defend and rally behind him.

There's stuff making fun of him but it's just not as much as presidents past.

Also since his election the bipartisan stuff has devolved really badly into team sports so while in the past it was cool to mock Clinton, or Bush, or whoever no matter what side you were on now it's like sacrilege to mock part of your side. It's kind of upsetting really.

Eh, Obama got some good gags in at the last Correspondents thing with Hillary and Bernie.

I think the real issue is that Obama is just consistently professional and is highly articulate and socially savvy, and what would be his biggest eccentricities are fairly benign or never really played up. I mean, he's a fucking sci-fi and comic book nerd but geek chic is in and he's a cool black guy so nobody really cares.

While during the Bush years the Onion had shittons of fodder, while Obama was in office they instead had to resort to the wacky antics of a sleazy Joe Biden and an overzealous fitness-obsessed First Lady, and lately violent conquering warlord Hillary.

Nobody besides Trump in the last few years really presented anything worth making jokes about, besides maybe local stuff. Nobody gives a shit about congressional leaders. Who even remembers anything about the 2012 election?

The Michelle hate was mostly on the side that thinks Sarah Palin has good ideas. Not even conservatives in general, but a particular set of them. Since Obama's initiatives were super benign in the long run, people could only really hate them on the principle of disliking being told how to raise their children.

Three First Ladies with Post-grad degrees, and are also the youngest/most recent First Ladies, since they'd be the ones whose generations were actually encouraged to pursue higher education degrees and careers.

>Laura Bush
>Master's Degree in Library Science

>Hillary Clinton
>Juris Doctor from Yale

>Michelle Obama
>Juris Doctor from Harvard

So in terms of time devoted to education, or level of degree, she and Hillary are on par.

But that's not really what's in question, in its totality. I can't imagine anyone in their right mind saying that he's a bad person. The hate and dislike that exists for him isn't really about him, per se.

Nope, you can do president jokes. Like him getting the best of everyone, or being just as amazing and capable as a hero, but seeing legislation as more important.

But he hasn't done bad things. I guess he might enable people to do bad things, but he mostly just gives speeches and signs things. And the bad things he enables are things that most people either agreed with at one time (without his name on it) or that he has very little ability to stay.

I'll be simplistic too: I think most of the hate for him is rooted in racism. Maybe not directly cause by it, or even bigotry towards him. Like, "Why don't we just bomb the shit out of Iran and Syria?"? A kind of racism that devalues foreign life. Doesn't even involve Obama himself but manages to wrap him up in the blame anyway.

Hillary's reaction to everything is smiling broadly, even to gruesome deaths.

Obama was just some guy with policies, there might have been a lot of hype at the beginning but beyond that his persona wasn't used as a substitute for politics and (mostly) everyone judges him based on whether they like his policies or not because he's just plainly professional about being the president and that's most of what he's got.

Pretty sure Obama was also running on healthcare reform back in 2008, along with promises to stabilize the economy.

And like you mentioned, a lot of Sander's policies are about as realistic as Trump's (his tariff propositions against China, making Mexico pay for a wall, etc). It seems (anecdotally) that a lot of their supporters even recognize this, and admit they're smitten by the idealism behind their promises.

Mm, no. A trump presidency would be a nightmare, but there is a real fear that an establishment candidate won't do anything to stop the middle class' slide into poverty that's been happening for the last 4 decades. It's just funny because poor white people are just now realizing what everyone else has known for years, but they did an exact 180 from what everyone who has been battling to stop it has been doing. It's very American to think that you can just pop a Trump pill and have everything go away, as opposed to implementing, slowly, the Sanders exercise regime.

The greatest lie in this election is that Bernie is some kind of Messiah. He's been pushing for his policies for as long as wages have been stagnant for middle class Americans, and it will probably take as long to implement them responsibly. But we gotta start somewhere.

yep, I've been saying this for a while. Netflix is making a lot of new content and losing its "prestige" reputation simply because they know they're not going to have much of anything else in 5 years. its why they automatically renew every show for at least two seasons. Because they need a catalog when all the other studios pull out and make their own streaming.

Hell, Amazon Prime has a much larger selection of movies and TV. Who knows what's gonna happen with Hulu, but even they're getting into the original content game. who knows what the internet will be like 5, 10 years down the line.

>more hyperbolic horse shit. europe is not going under, it's facing a refugee crisis. It's a drop in the bucket in the big picture.
holy shit the denial is real.

take a look at any news article on Europe. Refugees outnumber natives in places like the UK and Germany, and the governments are so progressive far left that you cannot so much as look at a muslim wrong or you are a bigot.

if you think london looking like downtown Baghdad is ok, then you are part of the problem.

these are not people who want to immigrate to start over. they just want the free European handouts, and then want the EU to also change its ways to accomodate them and their religion. It wont be too long before Europe becomes a caliphate.
>>

and

3. Are irreversibly going to change the nation's demographics.

At this point, lowering taxes is necessary as the average household income has gone down, and decreasing taxes for everyone would make a more convincing argument to have people pay them, tons of the rich already put money in offshore bank accounts and abuse loopholes to already get out of taxes, lowering them would at least try to convince them to pay
>Okay, hang on, which laws aren't being enforced? And who's going to pay for the border security? Don't kid yourself by saying Mexico.
Essentially, there's very easy ways for Mexicans who cross the border illegally to not be sent back, like having documents saying they are from Guatemala or Ecuador, which means border patrol agents who catch them have to basically register them, and send them to the location they are headed towards with a court date they are supposed to go to. By doing this, we end up spending loads of money on illegal immigrants, billions per year
Even if we couldn't get Mexico to pay for a wall and send back tons of illegals, doing it ourselves would actually be cost effective in cutting the billions we spend on illegals
>>
>>82952498
Actually I should explain that billions better since I missed a couple things so I'll bullet point
>During the registration of illegals, we send them to several branches of government and pay for their traveling

Yes, and they have been repeatedly proven wrong. Yet they keep insisting Obama was born in Kenia and it's all one big conspiracy to ruin America with some gay marriage communist healthcare scam. It's embarrassing. Especially with Trump, who more than once made this fucking big deal about how he had concrete proof Obama wasn't born in the US and then produced nothing to back those claims.

>Isn't it somewhere in your laws that you have to be born there or something?
That's basically the rule in most countries yes, but see, the thing is, you have to prove that you were born in American for to even be eligible to run for President.

Plus his plans include a lot of spending cuts from government, making high taxes unnecessary
>Yeah, but how does Trump plan to fix that?
Building the wall would help cut down illegal immigration to a heavy extent, not make it impossible, but at least cut down on it, plus cracking down on illegals instead of just trying to look the other way like previous presidents trying to get reelected would make it easy to deport them out. Together, they would cut down government spending on illegal immigration

Besides illegals immigration, cutting spending on waste and fraud and lowering the cost of medicade
Biggest focus is renegotiating trade deals to help improve US economy

How?

Lowering the number of people on medicaid with increased jobs and cutting the spending on drugs

Illegal immigrants cost the usa between $113 billion and 184 billion a year

Trump has shown through his past and even this election cycle he is the best candidate at making money go as far as possible while spending as little as possible. I trust him with money much more than I trust that cuck sanders who just wastes fuck tons of it
>>
>>82960432
That's fair, it's big to admit that. 'spect.

It's good to be skeptical. Trump may promise you the world, but you should ask questions regardless. Just like any other candidate.

how is Trump going to Troll the world into throwing resources at the US with no real consequences? Trump is playing the media like a fiddle but that doesn't mean it'd translate into actually running shit.

He is going to cut benefits and policing that is involved with all the illegals. He is going to more so than anything else streamline the budget as opposed to blanket cuts. He is going to go through and ensure bills aren't funded with a ton of pork and that we aren't being fucked by the rampant corruption that is affecting our government, why else do you think the establishment and socialists hate him?

Also I personally would be totally happy if the cut the DoE (education hasn't improved even though we are wasting fuck tons on it and every state has a DoE anyway) and cut medicade, and all other welfare programs
>>
>>82960649
Guatemala has already offered to help build the wall to fuck over mexico. Trump has said Mexico is going to pay or we crash their economy with no survivors and there have been reports of multiple world leaders already negotiating with him over trade deals.

I dunno where you live, but in CA illegal immigrants are the backbone of our farming economy and they work way harder than most. Most of our farmers are Republican but even they support lax immigration rules because of this. It would actually significantly hurt GDP if we started keeping migrant farm workers out, not to mention the loss of sales tax income and all the other ways they pay into the economy while they're here.

>>82961220
They send the majority of their income back to Mexico. They aren't helping the usa via sales tax. And like I've said before it's proven that they net waste more government money than they pay into for taxes.

Also just have a guest worker program, they can work in the usa but are tracked
>>
>>82961077
That's not cutting benefits, that's just reducing the number of people we're paying benefits to. The system itself remains unchanged. And you didn't answer the question about corruption, and what corruption are you talking about exactly?

Also you're a dick, I might add.
>>
>>82961372

You're just straight up wrong, bro. They live here, so they have to be paying into the economy enough to support themselves, ergo they pay sales tax. They don't make much to begin with, so just doing some basic math it's literally impossible for them to be sending 'most' of their income back to Mexico. Not to mention many of them have been here illegally for years or decades and have moved their family here as well. I've seen economists calculate it as a neutral economic effect overall, since their presence generates good money in addition to costing some.

You're not wrong about the guest worker thing, but since people are stupid we can't get the system revised correctly and as a result it's easier to just let them illegally migrate in to do the work and look the other way. I guarantee you if it were a serious financial problem we wouldn't have been doing it like this for almost 100 years.
>>
>>82961372
A guest worker program wouldn't work for the same reason illegal immigrants became a reliable source of labor in the first place: if shit is too expensive or complicated, owners find a way to cut costs. To combat that you would need more intrusive federal regulation, and that just isn't happening if Trump gets the vote.

You have to be a natural-born citizen to run for President. Obama was born in Hawaii, but some people are fucking convinced that he's a terrorist born in Kenya and demanded to see his birth certificate.
Then when he released an image birth certificate, they moved to the goalposts to "That's the short form certificate we want to see the LONG FORM birth certificate"
So eventually a scan of the Long Form document got uploaded to whitehouse.gov. and the response was YOU MUST HAVE PHOTOSHOPPED THAT. WHY DOES IT SAY "CERTIFICATE OF LIVE BIRTH" INSTEAD OF "BIRTH CERTIFICATE" OBVIOUSLY THIS CONSPIRACY HAS BEEN IN THE MAKING FOR DECADES WAKE UP SHEEPLE

Because Mexico is highly dependent on the US for trade we have a lot of leverage over them and can force them to pay for the wall or threaten to take our trade elsewhere

This isn't hard to understand, but apparently you're retarded

In what way is his tax plan unworkable? Or is this one of those "a Republican congress will clearly block a Republican president because magic" kind of things?
>>
>>82963830
Jefferson was a Christian, his stated belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ is well documented

Reagan had to work with liberals in the California legislature and Congress, even if he was pro-gun he wouldn't have been able to do anything about it- hence why he gave amnesty to illegals in exchange for laws which were designed to allow efficient border control. Because that is how actual compromise works with Congress as opposed to Obama whining all day long and then repeatedly getting btfo in midterm elections when his whining fails to produce results.
>>
>>82963983
>Jefferson was a Christian, his stated belief in the teachings of Jesus Christ is well documented

Deists don't count as Christians. He very well documented to have have tore out of a bible everything he disagreed with, most everything from the bible was torn out.
>>
>>82963983
>>82964078

>The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth, commonly referred to as the Jefferson Bible, was a book constructed by Thomas Jefferson in the later years of his life by cutting and pasting with a razor and glue numerous sections from the New Testament as extractions of the doctrine of Jesus. Jefferson's condensed composition is especially notable for its exclusion of all miracles by Jesus and most mentions of the supernatural, including sections of the four gospels which contain the Resurrection and most other miracles, and passages indicating Jesus was divine.[1][2][3][4]
>>
>>82964136
So basically the Jefferson Bible is all the morals without any of the bullshit.
>>
>>82963983

I'm glad Obama finally realized it was impossible to actually compromise with the now fully retarded Repubs and has just been doing shit while they complain. Their act of blaming him while sitting on their hands has lost its credibility after 7 years and now all their bullshit has come home to roost with the old D.T.
>>
>>82964253
Finally realized? His entire administration has been by "Phone and Pen" executive orders he's been so proud of and dares the next to roll back.

Also Republicans have been far from obstructionist and willfully complicit in running up massive spending measures and not operating on an actual federal budget once in this whole presidents term.

That's the reason Trump is here now. They won't to their job.

And people realizing it's all the same party now anyway with Trump in the race.
>>
>>82940164
Yeah you're an idiot
>>
>>82964497

During his first term he was well documented as trying to meet Republicans halfway. Their absolute unwillingness to compromise has led to the current gridlock, which is why he's just going around them at this point.

Seeing Repubs trying to justify things like not holding a hearing for a Supreme Court Justice on CSPAN is painful, there's not a shred of moral or intellectual honesty left among them. It's all team sports. They'd unite behind the devil himself if they had to just to stay afloat, all the while saying 'at least he's red!'

>They send the majority of their income back to Mexico

Let's do some math. Let's say Jose is lucky and his employer pays him minimum wage ($10 in California)

Let's say he lives in Bakersfield. Not LA, because rent is stupid high and it would be impossible to sustain himself there. Average rent in Bakersfield is $708. Not all farm work is permanent, often times it'll only last a few months. On average, Californian farm workers make $11,000/year.

Jose isn't breaking the bank anytime soon, so he shares a 1-bedroom apartment with someone, so his rent is only $350/month before utilities. From rent alone, he's paying $4200/year.

He's gotta eat too. Average spent on groceries per month on his wage is $127, which may sound high but Jose works hard, he deserves a treat (shitty beer) sometimes. $1524/year to feed himself.

I haven't even accounted for utilities and taxes and we've already accounted for just over 1/2 of or "the majority of his income".

By the way, sustaining relatives in Mexico doesn't cost that much since most likely Jose is sending it to some fuck-off, poverty-stricken village.
