w-why do they all have peg legs?
I'm afraid to ask.
>>82881282
No, she didn't get the phone call so you have no idea about the time between end of last chapter and beginning of this.
>>82881282funny you should say that....
>>82881290
In case she possesses one of them, of course.
>>82881290
To make it harder for Jimmy to escape if he possess one of them I would assume.
>>82881290
We going DEEP
300 YEARS OF PLANNING!
>been in this thread for 3 hours now
>>82881294
Shit. I was getting excited to see all that random shit Gellman talked about.
ALL THE PLANNING
>>82881178but thats where the first demon comes into place, there already is a dimension where non of this happened, everyone getting killed in that castle is in that dimension because there is no castle in dimension beta
>>82881350
Ahahaha, what the fuck
I love how this is just all given with a completely straight face
>>82881341
when really it doesn't need to go any further than this.. this part is either sufficient or useless. and why.. why no tongue?
I stayed with the last 2 threads, then got impatient and went to the artists site to read the rest. Holy shit what a ride, best comic I've read in ages.
>>82881360
JESUS HORSEFUCKING CHRIST
>>82881348
i don't recall him talking about anything except the 31 day thing and his previous work on the project. he was dead long before this happened, so... he cant have been talking about any of this.
>>82881369
you can bite your tongue off and drown yourself
>>82881360
Incredible.
>>82881369
I'm not sure it works in real life, but in fiction biting off your tongue and choking on the blood is a suicide method that pops up.
>>82881363
what?
i'm not even sure what to WHAT more about, this post, or the word 'but'
>>82881341
>>82881350
>>82881360
I'm pretty sure that this is all literally a result of the author going up to his friends, and spitballing ideas for how to stop someone who can do what the demons can do.
That's the only way I can see someone coming up with such a schizophrenic arrangement of contingencies, they all came from different people.
>>82881388
>>82881406
youd think that would have come up earlier then.
>>82881410
Probably and I love it so so so so much
>>82881397
>the "tan line" was from the difference in skin tone between the head and possessed body
i can't BELIEVE i only now realized that
>>82881420
i know a guy who legitimately believes in one world government. he's incredibly intelligent other than that, and he introduced me to this comic.. i hope it made him reconsider slightly. ironically i was actually with the dude early on, thinking jimmy should work with him. i liked the idea of an elite team of agents going around the world killing the spiders to save the butterflies.
BTW thanks everyone most of the things I story time has no one in them this has been so much better.
>>82881428
It's probably not a quick method and like I said, it's unclear if it even works (I've seen people say the wound would clot before anything happened, or maybe you'd get a repeat of Jimmy trying and failing to choke on vomit). Hunter's just covering all the bases I guess.
>>82881471
You might not bleed to death but you'll definitely have enough blood to drown in.
>>82881438
to be fair in art this simple it's hard to notice shit like that. and early on they intentionally didnt want you to, all the bits before he gets arrested are supposed to make you just as clueless as jimmy
Hunter is taking no shits
i'm pretty booty blistered over how it all ends
>>82881408
maybe reading a spoiler in the midle of a storytime isnt the best idea?
by the way read this when its donethe first demon, the one who came to earth died and went to second earth, so that means she is around in another earth where this comic doesnt happen, that earth is the only earth all the demons in the final battle could have ended up in
Hehe
>>82881445
i still don't... entirely get this.. but assuming what jimmy thinksin the endis right.. then hunter knows he can trust those guys becausethey all have to manage to be good for that long to achieve it
though that discussion at the end didn't seem to remotely be ABOUT making posessions without killing yourself. quite the opposite. it seemed to be aboutpulling a jimmy's dad and dying properly.. right?
>>82881466
You've introduced me to some neat stuff. You were contributing to the Cooke storytimes too, right? I really appreciated those.
>>82881568
No I wasn't apart of that, never was much of a Cooke fan to be honest.
Some moments and sequences here and there.
>>82881538personally, i think the inclusion of dimension hopping is possibly the worst thing about this series. once infinite realities are introduced, what do the actions matter? there is no longer a sense of urgency or danger since everything could just go smoothly in another universe
>>82881538
but that isn't what happened
>>82881580
>>82881589

What the fuck did you just fucking say about me, you little bitch? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on the Camel Fuckers Guild, and I have over 300 confirmed bludgeonings. I am trained in amputee warfare and I’m the top clubber in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will knock you the fuck out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my fucking words. You think you can get away with saying that shit to me over the Internet? Think again, fucker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across Hunter's Compound and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your consciousness. You’re fucking out cold, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can knock you out in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my peg leg. Not only am I extensively trained in one-legged combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of Hunter's demon Israeli Commandos and I will use it to its full extent to knock your miserable mind out the face of the continent, you little shit. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your fucking tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you goddamn idiot. I will shit fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re fucking comatose, two-legs.

that seems like a massive leap that i still don't remotely understand. what does the 4th dimension have to do with alternate realities? aside from the coincidence that we happen to mislabel realities as 'dimensions'
kinda like the weird coincidence that their condition resembles demon posessions, and everyone has all independently decided to refer to the phenomenon as being a demon

The comic sorth of stops being about finding incredibly smart ways to get around a problem and goes into the look the shocking shit we can do and the cool fights which is completely understandable, nobody can keep coming up with enough ways to surprise you that much into the comic

>>82882781
There are physical copies out there and more on the way so people will continue to discover Demon.
>>82882786
nevermind how little sense that makes, i can't figure out how it matters to the story, since by definition all of those universes are ones we don't see whatsoever
>>82882801
oh yeah absolutely, just not as many as if it was still online is all. especially not wiki editors, yknow?
>>82882812
I guess there's 286 universes where Hunter's plan works then, and 1 where they stick it to The Man.
>>82882835
That's a pretty shitty Win/Lose ratio.
>>82882850
But THIS is the one where it works, so fuck all those others.
>>82882850
It doesn't matter to the ones who won. I mean, they really would not give a shit.
>>82882788
aww she takes after her daddy
>>82882812
What happened was that every time he tries to pick off a person he leaves for the other alternate universe where another Jimmy is, but he didn't pick off that person.
Then one of the Jimmys tries to possess another person, where sometimes it succeeds and sometimes it fails. The failed possession knows it;s failed, and then leaves. Now there are 3 Jimmys.
This continues until a Jimmy arrives in the universe 200+ people on the moon base where everyone has been posessed, iteratively.
It just occurred to me, if the head closest to the body is the one they go into, how are they going to get out of these conjoined twin bodies?

>>82883517
Did they just...kill six billion demons?
>>82883517
why next month?
>>82883388
Except that in this instance it's completely contrived, it only worked because the writer decided Hunter was a drooling retard again and left the lab completely unguarded. That happens a lot in this comic, the only reason the plans fail is because the previously extremely competent antagonist makes a completely unjustifiable mistake. It doesn't feel clever when the author has to write in unbelievable excuses for why things perfectly work out in Jimmy's favor nearly every single time.
>>82883510
the overwhelming majority of the commenters did. they were getting on jimmy's case

>>82883517

>>82883480
so what exactly (or even vaguely) are they suggesting happens if you're good? you just die properly? you get to posess someone without dying, but it only works once? why would phaedra teach people how to do that? did she manage to do it herself (is that what resurrection and ascension and shit was about) or did she specifically NOT do that and that's how she stuck around? I feel like i missed something really important at this point
>>82883546
Since I saw that KSBD updated.
>>82883536
No
In fact, they just brought 6-10 billion demons to life
>>82883550
>>82883561
thanks, i stoopeed
>>82883561
meaning what? just normal death? which they would have anyway if they died with another one nearby?
>>82883561
yeah but like >>82883567 was getting at, how could this be true?
phaedra taught people not to be assholes, and she outlived everyone
>>82883590
The comic is not out to answer these questions. The central problem to the comic has been solved
Albeit it could end up going poorly for everyone.
>>82883606
It is a possibility, making everyone on the planet a Demon however is an answer to what makes the Comic move forward.
So it has to end.
>>82883612
that's all well and good but i feel like shiga is not being this vague on purpose, and there is something we're at least supposed to be picking up on the hinting at, that we aren't. or at least i'm not. there's something here besides 'one last parallel to the concept of demon posession'
something we're supposed to understand that happened to jimmy's dad, and i don't get what happened to him, aside from 'he died'. i don't get what jimmy's suggesting happened to him, how it's any different from what would have happened to him otherwise, what he's saying ABOUT what happened.. i'm straight up lost.
So uh, how did Jimmy's dad become a demon again?
>>82883654
Probably something about inner peace vs. damnation but with some 4th dimensional angle to it.
>>82883657
given that supposedly demons arent able to have demon kids anymore once they've made posessions (and i THINK demonized ones aren't either? or am i confusing ability to have kids with ability to provide blood for the demonizer..) that is a dilly of a pickle of a question. by definition any demons other than phaedra and those created by the machine should represent an unbroken lineage.. so.. maybe phaedra had some kids before making her first posession
>>82883558
because if jimmy is correct than 33 days of not being a sociopath will cause a demon to leave its current body (dead). so they will know jimmys theory checks out if 33 days from now everybody on earth who isn't a complete shithead mysteriously dies.
>>82883692
they said no demon kids after the first death
>>82883680
yeah that would make sense. if that's what they're getting at then maybe they hinted at it better and i just missed it.
okay one more random thought before i get the fuck to bed because i stayed up WAY too late to talk with you guys about this, what if the issue here is connected with the whole 'jesus christ these people are assholes' thing. like .. they've been off-and-on miserable. that entire sequence in paris seemed to be hinting at something a bit more important.. so the goal of this 33 day rule thing is more about being less fucking depressed and less about life or posession or whatever. it lifts that curse of ennui somehow.. something which you saw inklings of peeking in here and there.
>>82883710
okay wait now i think i'm getting this a bit better. the 33 day thing is meant to kill you, so jimmy's dad was trying to commit suicide in a way he didnt think he'd be able to otherwise (or at least it would scar his son too much if he did it that way), and it just so happens he didn't need to thanks to swee'pea. or maybe she wasnt actually the closest head to him at the time anyway.
>>82883710
>>82883738
So like, if they HADN'T demonized EVERYONE on earth, then what would have happened instead is all the good-est suddenly find themselves posessing someone new.. and so on, until only the best people are left (er wait, except it only works once?). but instead it means hella death and the world just gets worse.
... wait, youre gonna tell me pre-suicide jimmy was never that good for that long? i got the impression he was almost robotic in his life, never hurting a fly. if that doesnt count then what the hell. for that matter surely all kids are innocent enough that all demon kids would just be stillborn.
Have fun chewing over it, I am satisfied and I need sleep now.
>>82883773
or basically everyone who was ever good for a while.. would make a posession once, wonder wtf, then live out the rest of their new lives until dying again and realizing they were immortal.. if there were any other demons around, jimmy's dad or otherwise, that should have been something they were aware of. and everyone's kid would be b-... oh shiiit wait.. it would mean demon kids were ALWAYS born to notdemon parents.. maybe. if you get one free posession as a.. no.. wait.. fuck me, i'm going to sleep now.
>>82883786
thx for the sharing bb
>>82883786
you're the best, thanks
obviously theres something we're missing here because obviously jimmy would have realized he was dying every 33 days growing up.
>>82883826
yeah i'm willing to call his theory entirely bullshit, and the 33 day rule is based on something else entirely. his dad becoming a good person was just something he was doing in anticipation
... though.. in anticipation of making a posession.. right? that's what he thought would happen. assuming he knew the rules at all. but wouldnt thinking you were going to do that be the same as NOT being good? at least hunter's agents were ignorant enough of it. i'm stuck in a fucking logic loop now where it only works if you don't know about it but obviously jimmy never triggered it accidentally so it has to be pretty specific
>>82883786
yeah thanks man, i'm glad this will contribute to it being preserved online too.
>>82883773
>>82883794
My brain is spaghetti, man. I've been in these threads for hours.
If you want to think about it this way, an all-demon world is basically purgatory. I imagine the bar for "good" is probably pretty high. Comparing demonism to parasitism really sticks to me, Phaedra's case is really strange. I guess she wanted to spread "disease" or "intradimensional enlightenment" or however you want to slice it. Perhaps it's possible that she wasn't "good" enough for the 33-day death. You can preach something without practicing it. Actually, now that I think about it she was probably seeking death. It's actually pretty understated throughout this whole thing and a part of me wants to go ahead and call it some moral religious bullshit to tie in with the "demon" theme even though it's kind of an arbitrary label but maybe there is some greater meaning behind it... goddamn, I'll probably just re-read the whole thing when I'm feeling awake.
>>82883826
No, because the thing he called bullshit to the priest was tio "having god in your heart/accepting a deity"
He never have been religious, neither his dad. The thing isn't not doing anything bad, but doing good, self sacrifice, belive, that was the money dad gave to the homeless mean
>>82883914
encouraging people to learn to be good by not letting them die until they've learned how...
shit. that's almost more like hinduism.
.. no except.. it doesnt kill you unless everyone else around you is a demon too. it just makes you kill someone nearest you, involuntarily.. and wastes your one shot at posession without killing yourself. and... i guess the body it leaves behind is still dead? not just back to normal

He was always neutral or a jerk.
So, why 33 days? The scientist guy seemed to know the answer.

I'm quite sure the 33 day rule doesn't start applying until the first death. Because like Anon said, everyone would be born dead if the 33 day rule applied to the original body.
Which in theory means that all the people in the world that Jimmy thinks are going to die will not, simply because a majority of them (sinless or not) have not been in any other body aside from their own. So Sweetpea is, in fact, right and Jimmy just killed them both.
However it is also two thirty in the fucking morning and my head hurts, so I might be missing something obvious.
