I think it was poor management and over-ambition. They were talking about a fucking anime and 12 movies before the game was even finished in the design department.

Keiji Inafune just made the game because Capcom kept fucking over Mega Man and he wanted to make another one so he proposed a clone of it. In the end, he couldn't even make a decent Mega Man rip-off and Capcom cleaned up their act. So right now it's pretty fucked no matter what they do. Kinda sad too.

The money they stole was worth less than the amount of time Hussie wasted trying to get them to actually show him something, to the point where he moved across the country so he could work with them personally.

Eventually he just cut his losses, got a lot of the money back and started from scratch by forming his own studio. The time it would have taken to get involved in a lawsuit would have just pushed the game (and comic, this was a big part of the gigapause) back even further.

I honestly think he made the best of a bad situation, at least as far as the game is concerned. But I suppose we won't know until we actually see the game.

I love MSPA and Steven Universe, and I'd love to see something inspired by both of them, I just really don't think flatly stealing the format and cutting it off from the point of the format (user commands) and making your characters look like MS Paint edits of SU characters to post on DA is the best way to combine the two influences.

what i like about mspa's format is hussie's philosophy that comic art doesnt need to get messed up by text. i really appreciate that every panel gets its own page and that the text is kept entirely separate, the author can focus more on the dialogue without worrying about the constraints of the art on the page, or creating useless pages of panning around scenery just so text will have something to go on top of.
I also like the use of gifs for quick movments that dont warrant 3 or more panels, but get the job done with a single quick animation. its neat

as for the SU influence, its more than just how the characters are drawn, the overall emotion behind the show is really wonderful. especially with the use of color and light/ really appealing scenery used for almost every scene. its not something I'm used to in cartoons. but yes, the art style is fun to draw to an extent

Hey all lowercase tripfag, there's nothing wrong with kiddie cartoons, but Steven Universe builds up this big darker plot and gives the characters lofty dialog that doesn't amount to anything.

It gets you interested with stuff like Greg mentioning how Rose caused a war and how gems died, but then the limitations of being a cartoon kick in and disappoint you.

It's a problem with the story, where due to the limitations of having a child audience it can never truly deliver on the so-called "deepest lore."

Were the show's format longer, or if it pushed the envelope just a bit more, like ATLA, it'd be able to compensate for those flaws. As it stands it doesn't

Books like Eragon, Twilight and Percy Jackson are popular due to the formula they use. Fantasy word, Self-Fulfillment romance and Big Adventure respectively,

Jane's whole problem is shared with Jake: her lack of development and participation after 4 months in the void session.

Roxy got a lot of that, Dirk could talk with Dave and have both settle their issues and move on. But Jane and Jake got none of that. That's probably why they ''suck'' in comparison to the other alpha kids.

Like, Hussie could have had them talk to each other, or have them interact more with their dancestors, but they had none of that.Jane had, like, one paragraph of talk with John and done, while Jake couldn't evven speak with Jade.

They were simply ignored, which in turn made them speak little, which means less character development and less participation in the plot, which means less useful, which means terrible character to the cancerous tumblr fandom
