I do think the original was pretty good, myself. But only as its own thing. It's fucking stupid that it's pretty much turning into a series now. I don't understand why anyone thought that was a good idea. Like another anon said, the original has everything you need. Continuing it just feels pointless. If MB really wanted to make more music videos for MS songs, he should do more self-contained stories for each one with a new set of characters and narrative. Lewis is the A-plot and has been through the two previous installments
Mysterydog is the B-plot even though as you pointed out he's responsible for saving/crippling Arthur, blanking Vivi's memory and yesh, whatever grudge with plant oni

Love story is usually B-plot to action being A-plot but this is a music video so it's the other way around

This is overall an argument against trying to craft a narrative against upcoming tracks. Ghost worked perfectly, Freaking Out less so. It's going to be the luck of the draw for part 3.

Inter5tella and Mama Mia worked because they were complete stories set against completed albums. I suspect MB will avoid making continuing stories in the future, unless he starts collaborating directly with MS.

Also, if he's really bored maybe he and his team could animate yuracon's Magic video as long as he agrees "no self insert, no head bobbing."

You'll be surprised how often tv shows have "self inserts" (or characters based on themselvse and real people they know), although its usually not noticed as well as they aren't using the character to represent themselves elsewhere.

To list a few, Manny and Frida from el tigre was the creator and his wife. Stan Marsh and Kyle brofloski is based off of the creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker.

This happens a lot with cartoons and media actually but people only seem to have a problem with it when it's an online thing, probably because the person the creator has used the character elsewhere or to represent themselves in other places.
