The only reason that they would make Johnny Storm black and do that stupid half-sibling story is to rile up comic fans, it would have made WAY more sense to just make Reed black.

Because marketing. They want a black guy for diversity but they can't make it Ben because he'll be a rock monster and no one will notice, they can't make it Reed because he's the lead and they can't make it Sue because she's the love interest and they can't have an interracial couple as the main romantic pairing in the film so that leaves Johnny as the only possible choice.
