I really don't think we'll get either, maybe Undertale because its a very "happy" and popular game but LISA is just too raw.

She literallydrove Buzzo insane by emotionally abusing him by manipulating his feelings for her, and made him kill animals and mutilate her, which led to him fucking up Brad's life and everyone around him, destroying Olathe in the process.
I mean, yeah, she's fucked up because of Marty, but she's still a major cause of everything. Dingaling even confirmed she's the worst girl (besides Buddy of course)
>>82796883
Morrace Finkle deserved it. He was a shit who didn't even show up on time for his graduation.
>>82797021
>>82797116
Lisa's issue washer possessive and codependent relationship, that put Bernard on his downward spiral.
She hated Brad as much as anyone, and built up Buzzo's grudge against him, but that was likely fueled by Marty coercing him to rape her. Lisa's perception of the truth behind that situation was probably pretty limited.Either way, Buzzo's still responsible for everything that he chose to do after her death.
>it's a Gary the hot soup episode
>>82797652Doesn't it all come back to Marty? He had his son rape his daughter because he couldn't deal with his wife's death. Yado has responsibility on a bigger scale, but either way things come back to Marty.

>>82797652She never had to kill herself though. She could've run, she could never outrun the trauma, but she could learn to cope. Instead she chose death, rather than burden herself with memories, and her death wound up causing the entire plot. She never once thought about anyone except herself. Her selfish desire to end her pain, though understandable, just wasn't right. It's the same way for the Joy mutants. They chose the Joy, rather than live another second suffering, and lost their humanity in the process. Buzzo did the same thing, even though he knew what it did. Lisa and the mutants have the same mindset, and their desire to somehow take their pain away turned them both into monsters.
Lisa made the wrong choice. She was selfish and went for the easy way out, and she should've know just what it would do. She had turned Bernie into an utterly obedient dog and could've done anything she wanted with him, but could never get past her abuse, and she let that fact consume her. She screwed up as badly as anyone else, putting herself before the people who cared for her. Brad did the same thing. Buzzo did the same thing. Buddy did the same thing. Yado and Marty did it. She's as much of a fuck up as the rest of them.

If Yado caused the white flash, the situation was fucked no matter what anyone did since trying to recover the human species with just one female will lead to a genetic bottleneck.

>It's an episode of using on the secondary characters.
>>82798161I stick to the theory that the "world" Lisa takes place in is a giant biome Yado was in charge of or gained control over and decided to rule over it because he could create an army of mutants to enforce his rule and amuse himself.

>Blaming a young girl for committing suicide after experiencing nothing but physical and emotional abuse since birth
Not saying that Lisa was the patron saint in this story, but I wouldn't put her anywhere near the same level as the people who destroyed the world.
>>82798275
Damn captcha
>>82798275
>Olathe being a giant biome
I felt like that was the kind of reveal they were originally building up to, considering some of the things that Buzzo said, but the White Flash is never really expanded upon.
>>82798432
Could be mind altering, everyone only recalls a white flash.
>It's a father daughter bonding episode
>>82798432

>>82798022
Early on doesn't Buzzo say something about there being other women. He says the other women will like her or something like that? I always wondered about that.
>>82798674
>>82798501
>>82798432
>>82798275
Y'all are dumb. The white flash was a nuclear explosion obviously. With probably some other stuff probably mixed in that killed women and mutated some. I really doubt it's a biome.
>>82798808
People have speculated that there was another version of Olathe with just women as a parallel experiment.
But I guess we'll never knooow.
>>82798327
Are you sure about that? After her abuse from Marty, and abandonment from Brad, she found Bernie, who loved her. He would do anything for her. He made this clear by mutilating a cat and herself at her request. She never bothered to consider that he would have tried to protect her from Marty if she had asked. No, she wanted to wallow in her suffering. It's completely understandable from her fucked up childhood, but it's no excuse. Was Buddy right to kill everyone in Olathe due to her raising? Was Brad for going on a rampage to get her back? They all fucked up badly. Lisa was no exception. I can't justify Marty or her actions and Marty's were definitely worse, and she went through hell her entire life, but suicide is never the answer. And this is clear by having joy be an alternative to suicide. Lisa would've been a joy addict as bad, if not worse, than Brad. Taking joy is explicitly bad.
>>82798916
Yado's wife died recently though, so it can't of killed them all. And there were no bodies left after the flash. A nuke wouldn't have knocked anyone out either.
>>82798916
>A nuclear explosion that only killed the women
Can you blame people for being skeptical?

I go withreally shitty stuff made Yado and Marty into the evil fucks they werethey were just another link in the chain of bad situations leading to bad choicesLisa was just a really messed up girl acting on a terrible situationBrad was just a really messed up guy trying to fix shit and failingDoesn't make them any less responsible for what they didThere is no root of all evil, one guy to conveniently blame for all the bad stuff we do. We were the ones to do it.It's not bad to hate the guys that do bad things to us but at some point that hate becomes useless.Marty was just an evil loser. One evil guy in million. It was letting him become a "root" that really caused the cascade of horror for Brad

>>82799346
>I cried like a little bitch when I first reached this scene

>>82798957
Pretty sure.I think she's part of a long chain of perpetuating emotional abuse that's more complicated than saying everyone's good or evil, but I don't think Lisa was given the same choices or opportunities as everyone else. Her Mother abandoned her, Brad ran away after being forced to rape her, and she was left in the care of her father.
The First metaphorically depicts her running away and attempting to fight back to no avail, and Bernard was supposedly just a young boy, who didn't have any answers to the situation other than giving in to her requests of self-mutilation.
Not advocating for suicide as an option either, but I think it's more morally grey than saying it automatically defines someone as inherently good or bad.
>>82799227
There was something strange about the guy though. Why didn't he fight Buddy at the end? He could've squished her like a bug, instead he just stands there for half the battle until his health gets too low. Was he scared of her? Or was he just a hypocrite and couldn't kill his own daughter, despite having used her to destroy the world?I go for the latter interpretation myself, just to show how he might could have a sliver of humanity inside him. And because it's similar to Marty, who only changed his ways, repented by caring for Buddy, and died begging forgiveness from the very girl he abused. Only showing a capacity for kindness at the last second, which somehow makes them seem more terrible/pathetic.
>it's a "we're taking away the diversity and off-the-wall humor you liked from the main series for an edgy, story-driven epilogue" episode
>you want to dislike it, but it still stands up on its own merits
>also the soundtrack's surprisingly good
>>82799539
I thought it was just meant to portray him as a coward, considering that he apparently felt less than nothing about murdering his wife and abandoning his infant daughter in the wasteland.
Feeling some strange empathy for Buddy after being alone at the top of the world could be some hidden depth for him though.
>>82799671
>it's a "new protag doesn't use the power-up from the previous series for over half the episodes and then realizes there's absolutely no penalty for using it"
>>82799716
I always figured it was something like that.Yado probably figured she'd end up fucked up and horrible like him but didn't expect her to go as far as she did. I mean as far as we know Yado only "directly" killed one person for sure so it's like everything suddenly got much more "real" for him when Buddy showed up. I mean his actions and experiences all sort of separated/elevated him above all the horrible stuff going on and then suddenly reality came a knocking in the form of a drugged and vengeful Buddy
>>82799516It's true Lisa suffered in ways that no one else in the series suffered. And she had no way of coping. Neither did Buddy, who was locked in a basement and forced to kill. I do choose to believe that the morality of Lisa is very gray, with Marty and Yado being towards the black. Lisa, a confused girl who hated the world, was towards the bottom too, dragged down by her father, but I don't think she was evil, she just screwed up killing herself. Her death had a major impact on the world around her, and the Great Flash might've been avoided if she didn't. Joy definitely would have, right? Didn't Buzzo make it while working with Yado? Who knows what else he did with him. She still likely wasn't the kindest girl if she made a guy in love with her kill animals, and also say she'd love the new Olathe.
I also like the idea that the Armstrong line is generations of being fucked up. Marty doesn't seem to like the grandfather Brad idolized and learned from. Before his wife left, and maybe for a short time while Lisa was growing up, there was the "good" Marty, who just doesn't look right. It's creepy. I like to think Marty bottled up a lot of his emotions and put on a smiling face, and his wife was the first person who ever made his smile genuine. When she ran off, he had a meltdown and took it out on his kids. And years of being alone, he got all of his fucked up tendencies out and spent his life in seclusion. He really did do a good job taking care of Buddy, she wouldn't have defended him if not. If his wife didn't run out/die, everything would've been fine.Another thing I wonder about is, how would Lisa and Buddy have been if their lives were swapped? The same? But Buddy isn't Lisa. I wonder how they would've lived.

>>82792403
I HAVE AN IMAGE OF THAT!
>the episode is censored in most countries
>It's a Nern talks about his wife episode.
>>82800243
>Marty taking care of Buddy.
I wish we could have learned more about that, but the fact that we don't makes far more impact.Did he truly reform after years of isolation? Was he just waiting to repeat things the things that happened to Lisa with Buddy. How far can someone go morally before there's no coming back? All left ambiguous.
>If his wife didn't run out/die, everything would've been fine.
I don't know if he would have turned on his kids if he still had her, but the last tape sounds likeLisa's mother was dealing with abuse as well. So I wouldn't say Marty only had issues after she left.
>Buddy and Lisa switching places
Hard to say, though I guess it depends on how much you believe their upbringing defined their choices.Lisa's ultimate solution was self-destruction, while Buddy's was the destruction of everyone else.
Brad did nothing wrong!
I don't mean that in the retarded /pol/ way, I mean he actually did nothing wrong!
>>82800850
He had good intentions, but fucked up *badly*
>>82800821
>Did he truly reform after years of isolation? Was he just waiting to repeat things the things that happened to Lisa with Buddy.
I think he did.Everyone who wanted to rape Buddy just attacked her as soon as they saw her. If Marty wanted to abuse Buddy like that, why would he need to wait when he was all alone with her on an island with nobody else around?
>>82800893
Not that badly, and not until the end, especially not compared to literally everyone else in the game.
>>82800850
There was that time that he murdered a lot of people for dynamite. And that time that he took a guy hostage just to hire a gay swordsman, and that time that he sold the hostage anyways for 150 dirty magazines he didn't really need. Oh, and that time he accidentally burned a small commune of orphans to death.
Most of the shit he'd really have done wrong (severely beating Rick after getting info out of him, beating up Buddy to get to Marty) was just the Joy taking over.
>>82800821Part of me believes Lisa's self destruction was born out of her inability to do anything, and she would've become genocidal like Buddy if she had the opportunity. She just didn't see it as being possible. If she had lived, it would be interesting seeing her and Buddy interacting. I still think, though, their mindsets were much too different for the situations to wind up the same. Buddy could think beyond her suffering, and Lisa could only focus on her's. Lisa was a pessimist, Buddy was an optimist.I'm still disappointed there was never a fight between Lisa and Buddy. Sure, she was dead, and Buddy didn't know her, but she could've had a hallucinatory fight with her somehow. Maybe as a secret boss, she sees a painting of her, and she imagines a fight against the girl supposedly responsible for everything.
>>82800818
>It's a "Birdie gets smashed and burninates the entire area" episode
>>82800985It's not really the vibe I got, but it's possible that he could have been aiming to build up trust for something long term with her, rather than simply having his way with her once.
Considering how there are hints in The First of him having a softer relationship with Lisa before things went wrong.

All left ambiguous.I think he was TRYING to reform. I don't at the time he would have had the intent of hurting Buddy. But it seems that he would have fallen back into old patterns, just like he did when he lost his wife. Something would have triggered it, Olathe is just too chaotic, the Armstrongs are too unstable and really, does Marty have any experience being a proper parent? He might just get frustrated and become old Marty, taking it all out on Buddy.

If Dingaling didn't give Brad the option to do something, it's because it wouldn't be in character for Brad to do it. At the end of the game, there isn't any option for Brad to just give up and let the Rando army have Buddy, because it'd be out of character for him to do so.

Well Paprika was back before that became a major issue. Satoshi Kon has a great library of works all worth checking out. Not many of them though, he died a couple years ago.
Perfect Blue, Millennium Actress, Tokyo Godfathers, Paranoia Agent and Paprika. Magnetic Rose was decent too but I think he only did animation for it, not full directing.

Guys, Idon'tlike Lisa. I know, I know, I played the games, but in hindsight they're just too sad. To point of being unhealthy.
>>82804637
Can we not do this anon?
This shit happens every single time someone brings up LISA and it's honestly a disservice to people who haven't played LISA.
I mean it's a shitty person who doesn't play a game just because someone else says it wasn't as good as another game of similar genre but don't give them that nudge. Some people might enjoy a story that isn't wrapped up with a neat bow instead "lol power of anime solves everything" is all.

Exactly. I remember being there for a thread when the demo got released and we all had a goddamn blast (and jerked it to Toriel)
Now everybody hates it. Granted, the fandom is kinda annoying but so is any other fandom in it's own way.
>>82804910
Some games can be happy. Some games can be scary. Some games can be sad.
Sometimes focusing too much on one emotion can sometimes taint it, makes it boring. I think Lisa the Painful balances the depressing moments quite well. Besides, it's refreshing to feel sad / depressed, which is an emotion that doesn't show up too often in vidya gaems. What exactly about it do you not like? Just that it's sad? Nobody says you have to like Lisa.
>>82804637
Sorry I'm not into anime.
>>82804726
Didn't know there was a music video actually.
Tis melancholy.
>It's an episode
>>82804910
I thought LISA the Painful wasn't wholly pessimistic. Weird things happen in the world, and while you're strapped in for the ride of a broken man holding onto the one thing he holds dear in life you take time to perform sentai RP and defeat mutated horrors with magic tricks and wrestling moves. It's a roller coaster of varying emotions, and not a lot of games do that nowadays.
Now, LISA the First and LISA the Joyful, those are some depressing games. Dingaling really ought to stick to using absurd comedy to alleviate his work, since he can get a little melodramatic.
Why are /co/ lisa threads so much more chill
>>82805009
LISA's story is wrapped up in a neat bow, though. In fact there's only one possible outcome, and two in the DLC, which are selected by a Mass Effect 3 style menu rather than any ingame choices.
Meanwhile Undertale has the potential for a wide variety of very messy endings.

What is this game about?
So who's the father?Austin himself said it wasn't Brad. And Buddy said Bolo didn't get the chance if you decided to hang onto the barbed wire.
What always bugged me was the age difference. Buddy is clearly a young adult, but the baby looks maybe a year old at most.
>>82805528
What did you expect from /v/.
>>82805295
I thought The First was fine, having a consistent tone for the short depressive piece that it was.
The Joyful was a bit harder to get into, because as an epilogue things were already about as terrible as they could be from the get-go, and Buddy started in full murder-mode rather than fully developing an arc of her own.
Somewhat on the topic of the thread, since LISA's RPGmaker:
How do you feel about Yume Nikki?
>>82805847Why would it be Brad?
I imagine that the father wasn't any established character, and was just someone Buddy met some years later down the road.
>>82805341
Main game has 2.5 possibleJoyless, Joyful, and Pain Mode
Joyful has 2.5Antidote, Join Them, and Join Them-Alt
Undertale has 2.5You fucked up do it again, Pacifist, and Genocide
I mean I suppose you could be referring toslight changes based on what you've previously donebut realistically they're all quite minor.
You say "potential" but the result you get from playing all the endings of Painful/Joyful is a greater understanding of the story and it's possible outcomes while doing all the endings of Undertale isthe game telling you to not have done them which frankly feels like an excuse for people say it's much deeper than it is.

Dale Spooner. He raped her when she was tied up.
Also, that kid looks about 3-4. Babies don't wear trousers or have long arms. That would put Buddy between 14-16 too, which makes sense
>>82805847
We don't know what age grown up Buddy is. But we know at that point, it's possible for her to become a joy mutant.
Brad had been taking joy before he found Buddy, so it took him over a decade to turn into a mutant. Maybe the ending scene of joyful takes place 10+ years down the line too.
Then again, Yado was surprised she hadn't already mutated, so maybe it just works faster on girls.

You're just tearing them apart limb from limb. You're changing into something else now. And there's nothing you can do about it.No other videogame made me feel so many things all at once.

>>82804910
That's alright it's definitely not for everyone. Usually games have 70-80% awesomeness/cuteness with around 20% sadness ratio. Lisa is about 85% sadness/frustration/creepy shit you don't even want to think about. At times it can be morbidly funny. Or even endearing. But yeah most of it is pretty depressing.
Please /co/, I love LISA, I love your chiller side at times (kinda like /tg/), I know it's not comics/cartoons related. But please let LISA threads stay.
And try it out! The combo system is hella fun, the storytelling is amazeballs, music is top notch. It may be an 'earthbound-clone' but it definitely belongs more in its own category.

Depending on whether or not youdropped Rando, joy mutantBuddy might havea baby in her hand.
Although, that's kind of a weird scenario.Did she give birth to it before or after mutating? How come she didn't wind up killing the baby? How can she even take care of it or is he just going to die of exposure while cradled in his mother's mutated hand?
>>82805847
I'd say it's someone Buddy met later on her life.
>>82806219
Dale got fuckin ripped apart. There's no way he got her preggo in that short amount of time.
>>82805889
Honestly why are people so mad at Buddy for being so bloodthirsty?
As far as her and everyone else's knowledge in Olathe, she's the last female alive! Literally everyone is suicidal and turning gay n shit!
If she didn't adopt her bloodthirsty ways she would've been easily raped by almost anyobdy! Everybody even! Thankfully that's not the way Brad raised her.
Also: remember in Painful when you meet Marty in the cave? When Marty asks her about the little blue pills she had with her, she says something along the lines of: "They don't taste good but they make you feel good". Which means she probably stole some from Brad. Or got it somewhere else. Who knows.
The point is we know that Joy tends to make people a "tad" aggressive.
>>82806660
Something about going back to uboachan and looking through it is so surreal and depressing.
There's new posts once in a blue moon, but all the reaction images just feel like they got taken straight out of 2007 or 2008.>uboachan has it's own /co/
>>82807114
It's an odd feeling mostly when I saw her being so aggressive and Rando had to try to reason things out when he can. And when it came to his death I felt even more bitter against Buddy but towards the finale, now I just feel bad. The execution with Brad at the end was perfect and really brings it all home to me.
The only one I felt a little indifferent towards is Buzzo and Lisa herself.
>>82807294
There's a lot of nasty shit done by people who may not have had bad intentions. By the end you can piece the stuff together and realize that mostly everyone were just victims of circumstance. Well except for Yado and Marty.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vwyOCdt1mEo
definitely one of the most emotional songs in the game
>>82807114
Brad had been taking the Joy for years, but his downward spiral in The Painful was still presented as an interesting progression, rather than skipping to having him immediately murder everyone he came across. His actions started out with more tragic ambiguity.
I understand Buddy going into survival mode, but we don't really see her develop into the mind-set. It's straight to murdering pacifists and spitting on any chance to connect to Rando, the one guy trying to help her see reason.

Y'know one thing we know aboutjoy mutants is that they pretty much stop being directly aggressive once they've achieved their "desire" unless their desire is specifically to be violent.
It could be thatBuddy skipped on the antidote but then sort of realized too late that she'd rather save the world than end it. Thus she has the kid but her mutant form had already sort of achieved it's deepest desires so it wouldn't hurt the baby.

Yeah I guess it was kinda abrupt. I think it had more to do with the fact that Joyful was more of a DLC or an epilogue. It couldn't really shoot for the scope or length of the Painful. I still enjoyed it because at least we got an explanation for Buzzo's actions.

>>82807114
>Honestly why are people so mad at Buddy for being so bloodthirsty?
I think people emphasized more with Rando, so they didn't like Buddy shitting on him all the time.
If Rando had died after his encounter with Brad, people probably would have been more understanding on Buddy's murder spree. The only "good" warlord was Mr Beautiful, and arguably Lardy Hernandez. Even the warlords and people who were just minding their own business probably would have attacked Buddy if they had half the chance, as you can see in the village from Joyful so it'd be hard to take their side if it was just Buddy and no Rando.

>>82810925
Don't let the elitism of LISA fans veer you away from it. It's a great game.
What I really like about LISA is that while most games provide a very libertarian player role- where a single character grows to incredible power and achieves many things, LISA is on the opposite end of the spectrum. You play one character in a sense but in another you play a team of four characters surviving against harsh opposition. It's hard to feel powerful in LISA. You always feel vulnerable. It's less about achieving great power and instead about enduring a vicious narrative.
>>82811198
I played both as well. They were good on their own merits. I've played through Lisa more times though.I've only have done the Genocide route more than once in Undertale.

>>82810925
Nah,
it's not nearly as handhold-y as Undertale though.
Also thematically LISA is a bit too dark to reach larger audience acceptance.
Case in pointtumblr, there's a fair amount of LISA fan works there but it's not nearly as popular as "game where violence is really bad, a non-gendered protagonist makes friends with everyone, and then helps start a lesbian relationship".
>>82811473
Exactly this,
it works with type of story being told too sinceboth protags are somewhat disconnected from their actions in an unhealthy way. It also reinforces the player's empathy with the protags since they're having to endure the same horrible stuff and doing questionable things too all in the name of "enduring" enough to achieve their desire: finishing the game.

Really? I'd imagine those threads or discussion to be pure shitposting at this point. Lisa and Undertale have their strengths and weaknesses but I wouldn't compare both all that much.
Lisa is like a punch in the gut and being beaten down with a spiked bat. Undertale depending on your chosen route can give different feelings. Going true pacifist and experiencing that finale with your health going down to the decimals was incredible and even the cheesiness of it was worth it. Going full genocide is a ride on its own for Sans and Udyne going hero mode against you.

Lisa isn't a game where you grind.
There's only three areas that have respawning enemies, and they give fuck all in EXP and cash. However, the EWC does give good EXP especially with low level team mates, but no cash. Aside from that though, nothing requires you to grind for anything since EXP gain is consistent even if you avoid the "optional" fights, just general smart playing keeps you going, even without keeping healing items constantly in stock.Except for Satan. You should definitely grind for levels at the EWC for Satan.
>>82824659
So I just gotta avoid the crazy fights and I'll be good?
I'll think about it, I just boughtBattlebornso I probably won't buy anything for a while.
>>82824315
You don't have to do any grinding honestly. Just explore everything and you'll get the xp you need.
Brad is more than capable of being the highest damage dealer (after a max level Terry+Birdie combo of course) and tank hybrid. So just get a bunch of guys who can deal status effects and/or heal like Nern, Birdie, Ajeet, Bo, Jack and Garth. Terry also learns two good buffs at lvl 7 and 9.
Alternatively you can go for really fast characters to always attack first and apply status effects with firebombs and dirty water. Like Olan, El Rage, Yazan, Buckets, Carp. They also have pretty good damage.
Also, you don't HAVE to give joy to Brad. The withdrawal status effect wears after fighting for a number of turns.

>lisa making fun of japan
>when dingaling sucks the mother series's dick
He seems like a cool guy, hoping his new game is as great as the painful.
>>82825496
This is what Marty said:Let's go see your sister...You can interpret this however you like. But no one can really say for sure what happened.
I'd say that Marty forcing Brad to rape her is a bit of a stretch. LISA is chock full of these 'happy' moments but it just wouldn't make sense. I think that Marty saw her dead wife in Lisa and took out all his sicko grievences and frustration on her because of his depression. Because he missed her wife. There would be no reason to also make Brad rape her.
Bet you think Buddy was molested by Sticky too. When she outright says he never touched her. Just cired a lot and told stories. Buddy wouldn't have any reason to lie about something like that.
Even if he did touch her by that time she had her 'training' by Brad. She would've fed him his own balls without even blinking.
>>82825824
He said that in the context of teaching Brad how to be a man. Instead of doing, you know, karate.
>>82825324
Oh so that was what that little joy ball image meant? I thought he was just taking them automatically at a certian amount of hp and then he was under the effects of it, ha ha.
>>82825890
I mean I can give you that. And LISA is known for fucked up things. We don't know if Brad feels guilt because he didn't protect her or because of... something else.
But still it just doesn't make sense to me. Maybe he meant drinking alcohol is being a man? Then after Marty got piss drunk he toyed arorund with Lisa and let Brad watch. Maybe.
>>82825824
>There would be no reason to also make Brad rape her.
There wasn't justified reasoning behind anything that Marty did to his family.
>>82826302
Nothing that we've seen in the games. All we know is that Mrs. Armstrong is dead. It's not like DL will elaborate on it but it's likely that the circumstances of her death might answer why Marty is so fucked up.
Similarly it wasn't apparent why was Buzzo such a mindless psychopath before we got his backstory.
>>82826615
Fans have speculated thatMarty just told his kids she died, and she was really Nancy Yado, who dumped him to marry an even worse douchebag and kick off the events of the game.
I'm not sure if I believe it myself, but it would make her probably the worst character in the game if so.
Then again, they've also speculatedSweetheart was Nancy, but DL debunked that.
>>82826745That would certainly bring things full circle. Damn.
>>82825890
Nah, you're really stretching it. To be a man could as well have just been drinking instead of doing his grandpa's karate. Seeing his sister was basically a whole new thread right after he finished abusing Brad.
>>82826615
Wasn't the last video tape in The FirstLisa's mother, apologizing to Lisa for abandoning her, because she was afraid of staying with Marty?Though, I guess it could also be interpreted as her apologizing for dying and leaving Lisa alone...
>>82826745
SoBrad is Dr. Yado's wife's son?
It makes sense since Yado said his children, plural, would decide the fate of the world, and it gives Yado a reason for specifically choosing Brad to hold onto Buddy besides Buzzo telling him it was a good idea.

>>82828446
What was so great about Buddy? Brad already had a child, Dusty, and it didnt make him happy or make him go clean then. Dusty didnt do anything wrong or try to betray his father like Buddy did. Brad was irredeemable.
>>82828509
Ding never really elaborated on why Brad suddenly abandoned Dusty. The only moment we ever get of Brad feeling some matter of regret or anguish over his lost son was at the very end of Joyful, where Buddy has the hallucination of Brad cradling a Rando mask.
The only thing Ding said was that "Brad is fuuuucked up" or something along those lines. Maybe Brad felt that he'd once again failed.
>>82828600
>tfw there's not place to discuss LISA anymore
>>82828600
I think it's just that Brad is fucked up. He misses his sister and feels sorry he didnt do anything so much he specifically wanted another little sister/daughter to protect.
Or maybe he blamed himself for Dustin getting disfigured, not only because Bernard blamed him for Lisa, but felt because he couldnt even teach the boy to protect himself, so what good was he as a father figure. I think Joyful hints towards this with Brad teaching Buddy how to use real weapons and Dusty says that his master never taught him anything like that.

There are a lot of things to mock about JP pop in general, but the ones about dub speed and animation quality never worked for me. The dubbing problem is American-made, and western shows that want to make fun of animation quality tend to look horrible themselves.
Now the Giffany episode from Gravity Falls was good. Almost too good. They knew too much.
>>82828600
>>82828972
Yeah, I kind of stand beside the idea that Brad felt that he had failed Dusty when he got him involved with Buzzo. His past was coming back to haunt him, and he just wanted to get away from everything. The drug abuse increased from there, and Dusty's disfigurement was a constant reminder of all of Brad's regrets.
Maybe it was because Buddy was a helpless infant, or because she was a girl. But some feelings resurfaced when Brad found her. And he was able to project his regrets over not being able to help Lisa onto her.
>>82829856
Man the more that I think about there being an actual age difference between Buzzo and Lisa the more I realize that he might've just gotten in way over his head with an older girl.
