Whoring.
>>
>>82785560
See that's a thing that bothers me with Aunt May being younger: she's of working age, and this isn't the 60s, people will have a hard time thinking she's a stay at home kinda woman. So most llikely, she works.
So that's one side of Spidey's teenage problems (taking care of his Aunt financially) that's gone already.
>>
Lets people sample her wheatcakes.
>>
>>82785606
Aunt May has been a nurse who works at a hospital for fucking ever you fucking secondaries.

Tom Holland has probably seen this.

What the hell kind of logic is that? Even if she's working that doesn't mean she gets paid a good enough amount to cover all their expenses and then more. It's hard enough providing as a single parent, especially if she's barely getting paid.

Ben had good life assurance and the policy covered their mortgage. The flat is owned out-and-out by Aunt May.

Are you kidding?
She and Peter were fucking living in a subsidized housing project.

Do you actually know what those places are like?

That went out the window when Tony Stark came into their lives.

Besides, even if he didn't, New York City rent is expensive as fuck over the last decades. She could still work and manage to scrape by.

Or do you really think Peter taking photos of himself for the Daily Bugle is really going to really help take care of Peter's aunt financially?
>>
>>82785606
You clearly have never lived in New York City.
This guy >>82785970 has it.
The reason all those people in NYC got so fucking pissed that they Occupied Wall Street is because rent and expenses in NYC (even the real shitty parts of it) has SKYROCKETED over the last decade or so and tons and tons of people are working full-time jobs and still just barely supporting themselves while going on food stamps to make up the differences if they also have a car, which they probably need to do hold down a decent job in NYC.
>>
>>82785970
Taking incognito pics of his aunt will probably get him some money.

IN THIS NEXT STORY: PETER AND AUNT MAY GO INTO PORN TO PAY THE RENT AND ALSO PETER'S TUITION FOR HIS COLLEGE SOPHMORE YEAR. BUT THE DREADED DR. OCTOPUS HAS RETURNED TOO! WILL THE WALL-CRAWLER STOP HIM IN TIME?

Can Pete even make money like that anymore? I mean in the age of smart phones and technology and bullshit. You'd think it'd be harder to get money the way he did back then.

>what
A better question would be who

She could be a medial assistant of some kind, it would greatly play the "Aunt May is too busy for Peter" thing.

OP, I don't mean to be rude but you do have any fucking idea how poor people in large cities live? They live in a housing project. It's probably heavily subsidized by the city or it's a Section 8 property. That apartment is tiny.
>>
>>82792308
>>82785560
Also white people whose children actually go to school and have jobs are basically the dream scenario for Section 8 properties. The super of that building must be thanking God every day he didn't get another round of 'diversity' selling drugs outside his building. They'll have that apartment for life.
>>
Also, they're not in Manhattan, they're in Queens. 2000s Spidey lived in a house and had a newish computer, how much poorer must newSpidey be that he lives in an apartment and had to dig a Mac out of the trash.
>>
>>82785560
>living in an apartment
>not a house

Why are they fucking up canon so badly?
>>
>>82785994
How ridiculous is it? Because I own a house on an acre of land in Wa and my mortgage is $800 a month
>>
>>82792466
Median rental price for rentals in New York, NY for April was $4,700, an increase of 24% compared to the same period last year.
>>
>>82792552
>$4,700
For an apartment? New Yorkers are fucking stupid.
>>
>>82792442
History marches on. Like >>82789257 said, much Spider-Man background lore doesn't fit into the modern era. That's also why in the Daredevil series, they had to use the Chitauri invasion to justify why Hell's Kitchen is a grimy, crime-ridden haven for public squalor when, nowadays in real life, is a gentrified hipster haven very expensive to live in.
>>
>>82792466

Rent isn't comparable to owning rent is always higher Apts where I am in BFE socal are 700 to 900 mortgages are in the 400 to 600 range.
>>
>>82792641
People who're living in apartments like that are making serious bank. These are the apartments that are right near Central Park or Downtown. And let's not even get into the luxurious Brownstones you see all over the place.
>>
>>82792466
It's cheaper in the long run to buy than rent, but you have to save up a down payment, which is next to impossible when you spend half your income on rent. Flyover America is really spoiled in regard to housing (and it's no coincidence that the places with cheap housing are much more insular, white, and sparsely-populated than our urban centers).
>>
Fuck 4,700 is low for what I've seen.
>>
>>82785642
Kek
>>
>>82792641
Rent is pricey in every major city because people want to live there. Most people don't want to live in some bubbafuck in the middle of nowhere with a giant Walmart as the only place to do anything besides working in the fields and hunting.
>>
>>82788968
So, both, then?
>>
>>82793024
But my $800 place is ten minutes away from Seattle?
>>
if uncle ben worked for the city, she has plenty of money since he died
>>
>>82785573
I was about to say, have you seen her in The Wrestler?
>>
>>82792680
well at least the name Hell's Kitchen still fits, yeesh
>>
>>82793024
Also, a lot of people can't. People have specialized skills, they have to live where their job is. And a lot of those places are conservative, sometimes violently so.
>>
>>82792680
That was cool but honestly I kind of wish the tv shows took place in the 70s/80s. That way you can have grungey New York and the Exploitation style version of the Heroes for Hire characters no problem. Plus there'd be a reason why you didn't see the Avengers since they wouldn't exist yet or be kids.

It would probably be super expenseive to try and recreate old New York though

>>
>>82793060
I'm not talking specifically about you and I'm sure there are plenty of places on the fringes of major cities that have comparable rates but for people who are trying to live smack dab in the center of places like LA and Miami and Chicago they're going to pay out of their ass cause they probably work somewhere in the city and want to live in a happening urban center.
>>
>>82793060
Nobody wants to live in fucking Seattle.
>>
>>82793060
Lucky. I live an hour away.
>>82793322
It's not bad. The parking is super shitty. It's even worse than New York at times. And bums are hella plentiful and aggressive. But it has some nice spots. I'm a fan of the dolled up alleys. I'm more of a fan of Portalnd though.
>>
>>82793377
>It's not bad. The parking is super shitty. It's even worse than New York at times
I'm pretty sure it's universal that parking is just bad in any given urban center.

Only free parking you can get in Minneapolis/St. Paul is I-94 during rush hour.
>>
>>82793322
Seattle is best city. New York just tricked everyone that lives there into thinking it's even remotely good
>>82793377
Where you at?
>>
>>82793677
>New York just tricked everyone that lives there into thinking it's even remotely good
>everyone that lives there
>thinking it's even remotely good

nobody here thinks it's good. But factually speaking, everywhere else on earth is worse.

if you are going to choose a city it's the least shit one you could be in
>>
>>82794000
>everywhere else on earth is worse.
Can't be worse than the worst, which is what NYC is.
>>
>>82793677
New York is good though. Plenty of shit to do and it's not too far away from other areas states like CT or PA

I mean c'mon man Stan Lee lives there

I mean, it's possible I'll be working in Berkeley too, but still. I don't want to pay 2500+ a month for a studio. I'm sure it's a lot more, but god damn. Looks like I'm subletting!

She keeps getting called a milf

Did she and Ben really have any kids? Never seen that brought up
>>
>>82794222
MILF nowadays is just slang for any older woman over like the age of 30. Kids aren't really necessary. It's dumb I know but whatever.

I always wondered what they regularly called MILFs and cougars before those terms came to be used.

>>82794813
Still better than Bremerton at least.
