Nope. This is just a glorified Captain America arc so the core issues are:

I read Peter David's Captain Marvel Run, Annihilation, Annihilation: Conquest, and I ended up dropping Guardians of the Galaxy after a couple story arcs.

Though now that I think about it, i did see Wendall back in Annihilators. I guess it's been a while, since I've been drifiting away from Cape comics for a while now.

Oh, that's fair. The last couple arcs of DnA's GotG weren't that good, and PAD's Captain Marvel, Annihilation, and Annihilation Conquest are all better than GotG so you stuck to the good stuff, just ironically not the thing that everyone around here has read.

Phylla "died," then was brought back as Martyr but was all a ruse to manipulate her into bringing back Thanos, who proceeded to eye beam her to death the second he was brought back. Wendell was brought back and became Quasar again over in Nova around the same time this was happening.

Then Wendell proceeded to lead the Annihilators, get his shit kicked in by Thanos in a Starlin Thanos OGN, and then wasn't seen since until here. So presumably Thanos' curb stomping was just SO severe that he retired.
