it makes me very hopeful. Remember, Minions had a sequel aired just three years after release.

It is clear Zootopia has much more potential and I believe its enormous success contributed to any preliminary plans (hopefully) being made before the movie before even before blu-ray release, which is absolutely amazing.

I really really really hope all of the above factors will contribute to the second part arriving in two years or so.

More than that, actually. Yes, it'll get bumped out of the first-run theaters, but the second-run budget theaters will keep on rolling with it for a good long while. There are people who will opt to pay $3 for a ticket and see a theatrical showing in the cheap houses rather than $30 for a blu-ray. Furthermore, June = summer vacation and kids out of school. It becomes much more economical to haul the family out to a theater when you can get 2-3 kids in for the price of a single regular-priced ticket at the big chains.

Well hot damn. I had no idea, being an Americlap.
Even France, with their 65 million people contributed $35,000,000
So yeah, I guess 1 billion is a guarantee.
>>
>>82761592

ehh, don get your hopes THAT high, check how much disney earns there first with its movies.
>>
>>82761592
on a related note, anyone has any idea why Turkey got it so late? I thought it would make sense to align release date with other countries in the same region, such as Eastern and Central Europe, Middle/East.
It's definitely not an issue of getting Halal certificate because countries like Oman got it first.
>>
>>82761573
Japan is expected to chip in around $4.0 million just from Saturday-Sunday, and the weekly update will add on whatever they did Monday-Friday, as well as every other country that still has it going on. Domestic weekend should add at least a couple million more as well.

Now if only China didn't have that thing where they force movies to retire from theaters after a certain amount of time. Zootopia managed to get a rare exception to run a couple weeks longer than usual, but if that law wasn't in place at all, they'd still be contributing.

I'd kill for a full L.A. Noire style game in Zootopia, but it's fucking weird that the only way that can possibly happen is that disney completely cans their in-house publishing. I want it, but it's distinctly weird.

Yeah, you're right though a lot of L.A Noire's budget went into making an authentic 50's environment and all the research that entails. As for making zootopia's environment they'd just have to scale down and severely optimize assets from the movie and they'd have a lot of what they need already.
>>
>>82772036
well, that's true, but the problem is
>scope of games one can make in zootopia is limited because it has to be family friendly because that's what the Franchise is. This means no deaths
>this leaves police quests like "who ate the damn pizza rolls", racing games and I don't know
>only established studio can produce a decent game like that and they have enough projects on their own which will generate better return for the money required to make Zootopia game
>what will happen is probably minion-like mobile games, generic slash 'em up cand-crush arcades and the such

At least up until the Graphic Novel comes out.

Disney really messed up their merchandise/spin-off monetization with Zootopia otherwise we would now be spammed with new content. But you can really tell that they still don't really try and that they bet on Moana (i.e. Graphic Novel was supposed to come out next month but was pushed back to September, most likely so that the book artists at Disney can do the Moana stuff)

Then again would it be a good thing if Disney would monetize Zootopia as much as their Princess Movies?

I finally got around watching the Zootopia doc on Fusion. I sometimes forget how much time and resources go into animated films in particular. It's pretty amazing how much work got shot down until it reaches the general audience. I wish I could give all 550 crew members a hug.

Watching them work tirelessly over a story made me miss how much I love collaborating with other artists for something bigger than ourselves (and how much I hate doing menial routine work). Watching this made me love the film even more.

No because the whole film's about species prejudice.
Judy isn't expected to be weak or be a bad officer because she's female. It's entirely because she's a rabbit.
The other kids are mean to Nick because he's a predator.
There's no gender stereotyping in the film it's only species.
It's a parody of the use of racial slurs.
>>
>>82773152
Because the merch might not sell as well as generic princess/superhero/star wars stuff? Zootopia may turn a fuckton of kids into furries, but the "parents on autopilot"/"I don't know what to get my nephew" purchases will still be other stuff most likely, and merch represents a huge portion of the cash to be made off of franchises.

Actually, it's because he's a fox, specifically. Being a predator is a complete non-issue until Judy's press conference. The kids don't say "even though you're a predator?" they say "fox". The person who almost hits Nick in his first appearance says "Watch it, FOX!" Even Jumbeaux says "Listen, FOX, I dunno what you're doin' skulkin' around during daylight hours..."

>>
>>82783776
They seem to have mostly moved away from the theme of "prey vs. predators" and instead seem to focus mostly on stereotypes. After all, the mayor is a lion. Judy isn't treated badly because she's a woman, or because she's prey--Francine is both and well-liked. It's because she's a rabbit, and as we see from Nick's mocking diatribe, rabbits have a niche and rarely, if ever, deviate from it, considering just about everything he said was completely true and Judy knew it. Foxes are known as sly tricksters that you can't trust, a label that Nick tried to buck until the scout meeting, when he decided it wasn't worth it and embraced it because he felt there was no point in fighting it. As for the muzzle, well. Kids are cruel, this isn't news.

俺 - "ore", a form of "me" or "I"
器用 - "kiyou", "deft" or "skillful", so I guess he's talking about his flower skills.
大 - the easy kanji is read "dai", turning 好き "suki"/"like" into 大好き "daisuki"/"love"

I mostly use jisho.org/search/ for kanji lookup.

Eh, the artist knows how to layer strokes very well, but the fur's color gradation doesn't do enough to give the work depth. The lower part of the snout/mouth in particular is the most obvious example of this, probably because they didn't see it as needing layering to bring out the color.

If you convert it to B/W, the lack of depth really becomes apparent, although it's still well-proportioned. It just feels less like they understood the character's dimensionality and more like they just visually copied the pose, which would be less distracting if they had more spatial intution.

I fucking hate Hannibal. He's a comic book character meant to be taken seriously. I like the movies and maybe I'd like the books better, but Hannibal himself requires you to suspend your disbelief for a character who has the superhuman ability to never be wrong about his assumptions on top of an animal sense of smell. We don't even know how he gets that pen, we just know that he's so good he gets it.
I want there to be a good antagonist in the next film and there is a very real possibility that this is what we have around the corner, but it'll be more forgivable because it's about animated talking animals.

I just watched this, and I have several issues.

---Primary Plot hole: Character Knowledge---

How did the driver/panther know there was a dart?
How the HELL did he know the darts poisons active component source's name?

I may have just missed how the panther knew, but the fact that the panther knew the poisons name, (in a dart he didn't even know about), while a fucking bunny (who even had a bit about about knowing exactly the bulbs(same flower btw), stating that herbology was a family requirement, while correcting the Ox) didn't know the colloquial name, a name which was used in her hometown.

not to mention that the poison had a direct connection to her family history, leading to the second plot hole

---Secondary plot hole; resolvable with Post-hoc, and lots of time---

Ok how the hell did the sheep know about the flower poison's effect, but not the bunnies, or anyone else?
I might understand predators not knowing because plants wouldn't be the primary sustenance, and they would have far less exposure to eating plants and knowing their reactions, but how the fuck did other herbivores not know immediately, especially when The MC finds out from her fucking parents?

---Minor issue: Line flub?---

It bugged me that the Lion mayor said "wrongfully imprisoned the effected citizens", because it wasn't wrongful, in fact I only see a few places where it could have done it better. It was a bit shady, but keeping a fucking unknown rage inducing phenomenon from spreading, and causing panic is how EVERY official would handle it.

I will admit it was a weak decision that he didn't discreetly let immediate family members know, and I suppose that could be illegal

---Minor issue: Knowledge & Timing---

Since the wolfs showed up RIGHT after the bunny and fox went over the sky-rail waiting area 2 seconds before the wolf snatchers showed up, how the hell did they know where to show up in that quick a response, when the fucking cops had only been alerted 4 seconds before that?
>>
>>82787000
>How did the driver/panther know there was a dart?
>How the HELL did he know the darts poisons active component source's name?
number on your trips indicates your level of knowledge and paying attention.

He was chauffeuring a florit, Emmitt Otterton, who knew what was going on. The florist otter was darted on his way and the only thing he managed to utter before going savage was "night howlers, night howlers!"
The driver did not know what it is, he merely told Nick and Carrots what happened during the ride.

>flower poison effect

Sheep or someone with working knowledge of chemistry managed to create a technology to create very potent concentrated extract of the night howler flower. It's the same as comparing poppies to heroin.

>wrongfully imprisoned
you're bothering yourself with semantics, there is nothing odd about this line.

>wolf timing
bellwhether has access to camera feeds accross the city and dispatched Doug to hit the jaguar driver at the same time as Nick and Carrots moved out to question him, same with the wolves.

anon, it's like you haven't watched the movie at all.
>>
>>82787000
1. Manchas (the driver) said that Otterton screaming about the Nighthowlers. We don't see this in the later flashback to this moment, but I'm assuming this happened in the seconds between him being hit with the dart and it turning him savage.
2. I don't know how Bellwether (The sheep) knew about the effect, but the bunnies did know about the effects of the flower, but Nighthowlers only have the effect we see after they've been processed/concentrated in a lab. eating a flower raw only has a temporary, lesser effect.
>>
>>82787000
- He didn't know, Otterton knew, and blurted it out to the driver in the moments before it took effect. And the Hopps were farmers who used the scientific name of the flower, even to the kids, and didn't bother with the colloquial term.

- The flower in its base form had a temporary effect on a small child when eaten whole. Apparently it didn't effect grown animals enough to worry about, and the sheep were the first ones to experiment with a super-concentrated extract.

- Yeah, it was more the cover-up than the crime.

- Not really explained. Maybe they were watching the traffic cams themselves?

>How did the driver/panther know there was a dart?
>How the HELL did he know the darts poisons active component name?
He didn't, he never said anything about a dart. Second, when he is talking to Nick and Judy he says that the otter was talking about the nighthowler.

>Ok how the hell did the sheep know about the flower poison's effect, but not the bunnies, or anyone else?
Who knows, could of have stumbled upon it somehow. The bunnies don't know it's Night Howler that is causing that shit because everyone thinks predators are just going back to their primal senses/origins. Remember, only the otter, who is a expert florist, knows about it. And just because Judy is a bunny that comes from a family of farmers doesn't mean she absolutely knows every single little thing about every single vegetable/flower/plant. Remember she was way more interested in being a cop than a farmer.

>Since the wolfs showed up RIGHT after the bunny and fox went over the sky-rail waiting area 2 seconds before the wolf snatchers showed up, how the hell did they know where to show up in that quick a response, when the fucking cops had only been alerted 4 seconds before that?

The Mayor must have moles in the poliece that alert him about animals going savage. Not only that but remember all of the wolves seen at the asylum. He must have the lots of them at different districts patrolling the areas for any savage animals that may show up.

So, once Clawhouser told the department about Judy needing help from what she proclaimed was a animal gone savage, the mole in the police must of have told the "Night Howlers", and the Howlers got to the panther first before the police arrived.

>Manchas (the driver) said that Otterton screaming about the Nighthowlers. We don't see this in the later flashback to this moment, but I'm assuming this happened in the seconds between him being hit with the dart and it turning him savage.

We get to see the whole event from the otter being shot, freaking out, to running away, and he doesn't say anything.
I missed the Panther relaying it second hand.

How ever that makes the plot hole worse, because if a florist, not a poison expert?, knew the effect, and could identify a poison's source and relay it in seconds, then any idiot with a blood sample and medical equipment would know immediately

Okay, got to admit, I've only watched the movie once ages ago so my memory is kinda hazy.

Maybe the Nighthowler Toxin quickly breaks down in the air and in the body? By the the time they restrain the guy and begin tests, the toxin would have disappeared.

Alternatively, maybe the toxin passes through every blood test they know and can't get identified because of it?
>>
>>82787105
>but Nighthowlers only have the effect we see after they've been processed/concentrated in a lab. eating a flower raw only has a temporary, lesser effect.

>magnitude of effect discounts it as a clear possibility

that's not an excuse
Aspirin is concentrated Tree bark, the bark still works to a lesser effect
Opiates are concentrated flowers, still have an lesser effect
etc. etc.
etc.
>>
>>82787210
>then any idiot with a blood sample and medical equipment would know immediately
Yeah that's a problem.

But perhaps because Lionheart wanted to keep it quiet they can't go public and let the right doctors figure it out

Anyway I don't mind the movie having a hole that I didn't spot on my first watch. If it fooled me in the theater it passes
>>
>>82787434
If the toxin broke down then no antidote would help, it would be brain damage

and it being identified through blood is less of a problem, than its effect being instantly obvious to a florist, but not a doctor
>>

Yeah if the whole plot can be spotted by Mr Otter the doctors should have spotted it too

It is a cure that I bear, seeing plot holes instantly

I'm still trying to figure out how a florist would instantly know what an apparently extremity rare/unknown concentrated form of a poison from a plant he would not necessarily have intimate knowledge of its effect from ingesting.

Seriously if some unidentified wet thing hit you, how the hell would even a trained poison specialists know what it is?

If the doctors knew what to look for. You make the same mistake television does when you simply say "just run a blood test." Run a blood test looking for what specifically? Do they even know to look for certain compounds that would be known to that doctor?

Also, basic nghthowlers are established to not be as potent as what happened in the movie. This was very clearly a concentrated mixture with other compounds which could include a way to mask the poison as something natural.

We're never given a chemical breakdown of the compound actually used by Doug. We just know the primary source for the poison is night howlers.

For all we know, also, they ran blood tests and didn't find anything conclusive. The doctor actually seemed really perplexed by the results she was getting.

In other words, it's really not a plot hole.
>>
Maybe the doctors could figure out that there was something in the bloodstream, but were baffled by "What even IS that?"
>>
>>82787632
Nigger you are still ignoring how the fucking florist knew it immediately, and now its worse because you just made it even harder for anyone to know the connection at all

Honkey, it might have smelled similar to Night Howlers like a previous anon posted.

He noticed the symptoms were similar to night howlers. So what? Many different diseases and ailments share symptoms. It took the initial crime that Judy was involved in busting for her to put two and two together. The crook was stealing night howlers and no one understood why.

It can all be explained which is why it doesn't make it a plothole.

how many florists can identify rare/unknown poison made from flowers in seconds under the effects? how many doctors can't use webMD?

its a major issue regardless of your acknowledgement of plot hole status

now that i think about it how did none of the wolves get affected by secondary exposure while handling him?

The poison is likely transdermal, hence the need for the paintball-style pellets.

Because they used some net gun thing to capture the infected. They didn't even touch the guy.

Nice of you to not include the whole idea. If I told you I had a headache, could you diagnose what was causing it? I mean, it could be something as simple as eye strain or something as major as brain cancer. And webMD is gonna tell me it can be anything that "shares a symtom." WebMD is actually a pretty shitty judge of anything.

You can find real life examples of plenty of medical issues that multiple top professionals couldn't resolve and eventually found out it was something simple or overlooked.

I'll use some sports medicine as an example. Doctors thought Simon Gagne, a former hockey player, had issues with concussion problems. Despite seeing all these specialists, no one could resolve his issues. Then he saw someone who thought to check his neck and they found a big fat cyst growing against his spine and it was giving him his concussion symptoms.

Now... For the purposes of the movie... We don't know how many doctors are being assigned to this case. It appears it's just one. We don't know what kind of doctor she is. If she's not trained properly to handle special cases, she likely doesn't have the knowledge base and if Lionheart is keeping it all under wraps, she can't exactly go out and talk to other specialists about it further limiting her knowledge pool.

And again, using WebMD to make your point is just so laughable I'm not even sure I need to go further.
>>
>>82787850
Paintball guy here. It hits them with a pretty good amount of force. The shooter's about ~30m away when he hits Otterton in the car and still causes some pretty hefty movement. This is probably done to get through thick fur and ensure dosage. As to secondary transfer, it's possible that the poison breaks down quickly in air, but doses quickly while it's still stable.

Maybe. You're making an assumption.
>The SMELL
Smell doesn't tell the whole story. A lot of things smell similar. Certain forms of canabis smell an awful lot like skunk spray.
>Public knowledge of plant to effect
Again, this doesn't pin point it as night howler isn't considered a major threat to any animal outside of a temporary derrangement like a bad trip from eating shrooms. What was effecting the targeted predators was a specially synthesized poison that was derived from night howlers.
>untrained florist figures it out in less than a second
Who? Judy? She didn't figure out right away. It actually took her a while to put the clues together.
>>
>>82787890
Guess it has to be the only way then, just like how Doug know where to be.

now I know you are retarded, the fucking otter was the florist you dipshit, he literally figured out what some random wet blue thing he was hit with was nighthowler poison in 1 second before he went mad
>>
>>82787958
Not necessarily that direct about it, but it should be kept in mind that part of what made this conspiracy work was Lionheart's unwillingness to let the public in on the problem. Have to remember that at the start, this is a series of missing persons cases that's being suppressed by the mayor of the city to the point that even the ZPD really could do nothing about it. We forget Lionheart's role in all this. He's essentially a great patsy for Bellwether.
>>
>>82787988
>don't doctors know that fruity breath means some organ failure
Which doctors? General practioners? Nurses? Psychiatrists? Be specific.
>that's not a fucking huge leap
Uh, yeah it is. If you got upset and punched a guy at a bar, you're not suddenly a violent psychopath. That's a pathology determined through long term observation and testing and under much better circumstances than "Keep quiet about all of this."
>The otter is a trained florist. You said untrained.
>>
>>82788002
It makes the movie narrative work

It falls apart if you look at it from any other angle.
Bellwether probably didn't need or want him to cover it up, she could have taken the mayor-ship without Lionheart covering up anything, as soon at the panic spread

lionhearts response still does make sense timing wise. how did he know the few affected where going savage before any public awareness?
>>
>>82788026
>be specific
you are grasping at straws now

I don't know, that's actually a really good question. Chances are, C-Hauser gave Judy a direct line so he could help her, explaining why she was calling him while being chased by Manchas. It looks like he's working dispatch, but really he was doing her a favor.

I'm sure most of them would be absolutely delighted, but then you'll have consider both crediting them and rewards.

Now, for people not bound by disney contract keeping them in line re canon would be challenging and if money is involved everyone with any similar idea could have had a claim for similar benefits. It's such a trouble it's not worth it, no matter how good these ideas might be and there usually not really good at all.

Your point being?
>>
>>82788053
I think if Bellwether wasn't covering it up they could have blew things open right after they darted the animals. The only possibility was Bellwether was letting Lionheart to cover it up.

Shit, Lionheart is skillful but Bellwether played him like a fool. She must had fun doing this. I would have.

Anyway if Lionheart didn't get tips from Bellwether he might got it from some predator police in ZPD. Maybe they deleted the reports from the dispatch.

Actually the only possibility for one mayor to cover up 14 cases is to let all 14 victims to be from the underworld like Mr Big. This subplot would have worked better if it was the original Zootopia when all predators were seen as criminals
