Well, I'm pretty happy with this as pretty much the final image. Changed the eye area slightly and made the ears fall a bit forward. Might change the right arm before I go for a proper 1440p render, but that should be it for now.

If she is laughing, play around with the tilt of the head. Also with the orientation of the ears, relax them a bit. Cheeks should go up and close the eyesockets a bit. Play a bit with the position of the camera, front view is a bit boring for this shot. Play a bit with the eyebrows position, make them go down closing the eyesocket a bit.

Ahah, feedback! The head is actually tilted slightly, but I understand what you mean and I could emphasise it slightly more with the camera. I'll give the eye and cheek stuff a go now and see how it looks.

For reference, I'm trying to recreate pic related (no particular reason why) so I'm probably going to stick with the front view. I'll have the Blender file saved tho, so there's no reason I can't go back to it and try out new camera positions.

Oh I didnt knew you were recreating. In the picture you can see his eyebrows are furrowed. There are also things that the 3d model cannot recreate, like he wrinkles next to the nose and the cheeks. Thats a limitation you have to work around.

In any case, I believe exageration is key for toon stuff. Copying 1:1 will get you so far. Judy is cartoony, take advantage of that and find you way around communicating the pose without copyin it exactly.

Two-pass ffmpeg it. Figure out the exact bitrate you need by taking 25165824 (the number of bits in 3MB) and divide it by the number of seconds the clip takes. Here's the batch file I use in Windows:

ffmpeg -y -i %1 -c:v libvpx -preset veryslow -b:v %3 -pass 1 -an -f webm -y NUL
ffmpeg -i %1 -c:v libvpx -preset veryslow -b:v %3 -pass 2 -b:a 64k -f webm -y %2

And then the usage there is twopass.bat (input file) (output file) (bitrate). Or if you don't want to make a batch file, just replace all %1 with the input file, the %2 with output, and %3 with bitrate.

First, assuming this is a Windows command line (if it's Linux or something the NUL might not work), run this, replacing <input> with the input filename:

ffmpeg -y -i <input> -c:v libvpx -preset veryslow -b:v 860k -pass 1 -an -f webm -y NUL

That should generate a ffmpeg 2-pass file that it can use for the second go around. After that file's been generated, do this, replacing both <input> and <output>:

ffmpeg -i <input> -c:v libvpx -preset veryslow -b:v 860k -pass 2 -an -f webm -y <output>

Rounding down to 860k to make sure it stays under the limit, and I replaced "-b:a 64k" with "-an" because this would have to be a soundless webm for this board.

Nah, it's good, when it's a fairly lengthy clip you want to get it as close to the filesize limit as possible. The more bits, the better the picture quality. If you've used up all 3MB and it still looks blocking, your other go-to option is to use the -vf scale options to shrink the dimensions. The same number of bits across a smaller picture can raise quality as well. It's a balancing act.

I agree the whole anthro movie never really went away. It's more that Disney kind of shy away from it for a good while. And lets face it even when Dreamworks are at it's best it still pales to the high of Disney. So to many people when Disney does it people are more willing to say "now that's how you do a movie"
