I watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x2TzBgFx3mo&ab_channel=TexTalks just now. It was pretty decent, although not as novel as the previous video, and flirted with BYB territory a few times. Tex makes a deal about willpower and a possible overlap between the aspects, and whether this should bother people or not, which I think was wrongfooted:
- First, I don't see much of a basis for why this would bother anyone, especially given that all the different Heroic titles converge according to canon.
- Second, willpower fits much more neatly with the Class system than the aspect. The differing classes consistently have differing internal resolves and ways of influence or outright controlling others versus being influenced and controlled, while the same cannot be said for the aspects.

That said, it was a good watch overall, remaining sane and coherent throughout. The scale of activity he proposed towards the end of the video was good but ignorant of some established data on the hierarchy. Here is an image addressing this point.

I'm also listening through the "Quick" update video again, which is prudent given that I glazed over it the first time (too much action on screen). In a fashion similar to the proposed activity scale, Tex is good but ignorant of pertinent points.

For a start, the frog temple. I too forgot that only the kids meteors were duplicated by the Scratch - it was only by rewatching the Gold Pilot flash that I remember Jane makign GCat in their frog temple. Now this is the real plot hole. How did the frog temple get to Earth post-retcon? Pre-retcon Jade could have FG'd it towards Skaia and let it make a portal, but post-retcon non of the assembled Heroes had that ability. That Frog Temple is vital for the Liv Tyler loop and in turn Bec Noir, so it's a big deal that this is unaddressed. Issues such as whenever Jake put the weapons into the capsule are pretty irrelevant next to this, although how and when Jake recieved the weapons is more pertinent.

This is what I don't get. Slick originally "died" in Cascade to blow up the Green Sun. This didn't change with the retcons and still happened. Hussie makes him a robot and he starts traveling to the Game Over session, but he never actually makes it there before it gets retconned. All that's changing is the session Slick is travelling to, not Slick himself.

The retcon didn't erase the entire comic. There's still stuff left for John to change, after all, and none of it contradicts Slick's story.

The best I can figure is that John's retcons are a somewhat localized phenomena, and a vaguely linear progression includes the post and pre-retcon events from an outside perspective.

That's why Slick showing up later chronologically means he also shows up later in the comic, because the retcon didn't exist first, then after he spent time getting closer, it did, and at the same point in time from the session's perspective.

Because post-Retcon Jade is asleep? Follow the timing of events pre-Retcon:

- Jade goes Grimbark, Jane goes Obey
- Jade intercepts the meteor and teleports the heroes to LoMaX
- Jade follows the meteor through the portal to earth, shrinks it, then brings it back through
- At around the same point or afterwards, Jane goes into the Frog temple and makes GCat
- Presumably Jade shooshes the FT meteor towards Skaia and lets it do the work

Now here's the sequence of events post-Retcon:

- Jade goes Grimbark, Jane goes Obey
- Jade intercepts the meteor, only to be put straight to sleep by Vriska
- Jade is now out of the action until after her segment with the Calliopes

Now we have accounted ways for Vriska to jump through and grab Earth via the Walletball modus, and Jane still has the time and spaced needed to ectobiologise GCat and make it back to Derse to fight the heroes. But the only way I can see for the FT meteor to get hurled towards Skaia now is for Betty Crocker to lob it. This only raises more questions - why did the Condesce retreat from the heroes if she was capable of this feat? Why would she fought them one-on-one? And so on.

To some extent I suppose I did, however given how important over the top magical items and powers became it made sense to me that they'd have to find some form of item to rival some of LE's. I think more than anything the issue with the house juju was that Vriska's hunt through the dreambubbles wasn't given the narrative weight it really needed to make us care. We're told the ghosts are luring LE away to buy time for Vriska's crew to find the juju, but it doesn't mean anything as they're just ghosts, they're willing cannon fodder and no one else particularly cares about their demise. It just ends up making the hunt a chore and missues an opportunity to develop LE as a meaningful threat to the main cast.

I think there were greater issues with Act 6 than this one, but it stands out as one of the biggest wasted opportunities in the comic for sure.

Making characters OP by the end was so stupid.

- Aranea could control multiple people AND while a ghost, which gave us the impression post-retcon's poor dialogue was serkets fooling john and roxy until the dave/dirk convo that didn't involve them. Dead damaras using her powers on the incisphere look stupid too.
- John's powers were not removed by the end despite andrew could bring any bullshit to revoke it (hit by crowbar, dying etc) so letting his dad and a bunch of characters not alive looks bullshit while keeping them alive wrecks character buildup but john doesn't sound an asshole. Its a lose-lose situation.
- Roxy can make anything with her powers with no apparent penalties, as long its for someone else. The ammount of exploit is so big she could bring back the beta kids offscreen and the juju sacrifice would be pointless.
- Vriska is... Vriska.

On other hand, other characters were to the weenie zone:
- Karkat did nothing
- Where did Condy's drone army go?
- If Jake from the new universe is that whom fought Caliborn it took literal years for him use his powers and it didnt even kill him.
- Caliborn's immortallity being from the clock makes sense but feels less threatning. WHY DID ONLY DAVE BRING A CUEBALL WEAPON.
