It's Scott, I wouldn't take him 100% at his word. He did say he'd grown large once before. Albeit in the lab and he said he fainted. It's obviously something he's been willing to try.

Besides, why complain about him almost dying when he's a super hero. It's not exactly a safe occupation but Baskin Robbins would only find out again if he tried going back and what they'd do to him would be 1000 times worse than ripping him in half. You don't fuck with Baskin Robbins, dude.

5. Isn't a secret Super Nazi or Thanos flunky

Signs point towards yes.

I like how Hydra is basically a non-entity at this point. Crossbones is just doing shit on his own with some goons, the main villain isn't affiliated with them at all, and the Winter Soldiers were just rotting away in some facility.

Even if it's unintentional, it ties in well with AoS.

Did anyone else really enjoy Peter being reminiscent of young Steve in his motivations for using his powers and "for the little guy"?

And then did anybody else get creeped out that Stark was basically manipulating an impressionable kid with Steve's characteristics because he couldn't actually get Cap to listen to him?
>>
>>82543417

So, unrelated, how would you want the shows to tie in with the movies?

Like, there's an invasion in New York, and the Defenders are briefly shown helping police defend the city, or the Avengers need info, and Coulson's team is shown raiding a Hydra base and sending it over.

I know it won't happen, but speculation is fun.

>>
>>82543497

One of my favorite things about season one was because of him in general
>>
>>82543453
Feel like this movie didn't really finish Cap's story all that well so it's obligatory he's going to have to show up in the future.
>>
>>82543060
First half of the movie is a incoherent mess being pulled in too many directions. Movie is 20 minutes too long. Plot revolves around Stark being a complete idiot and Zemo being a Keikaku tier villain. Action while choreography and stuntwowk wise is strong, it's hampered by shitty cinematography, shaky cam and quick cuts and edited poorly. But damn I really enjoyed it. Everyone was great, Panther was good but drifting in and out of accent too much. All in all solid 7.5 out of 10, maybe 8. Not better than TWS but still pretty fucking great.
>>
Why didn't Iron Man just rape the Winter Soldier?
>>
>>82543514
Even if he trusted Steve at that point not to go in for the kill, he still was under the impression that Bucky was a murdering psychopath. Him drafting Peter into that was really questionable.
>>
>>82543484

Ayo hol up , so is Steve still worthy of Thor's hammer?
>>
>>82544090
Let's see...

IM1 he inspired the Iron Monger

IM2 he inspired Vanko, Justin Hammer, and countless enemy nations to work on their own suits

IM3 he turned Killian to villainy and gave Maya a formula for Extremis

Avengers he provided sustainable energy to create the portal for the invasion of Earth

Age of Ultron he created Ultron and his weapons provided the drive for the twins to survive their augmentations which they used against the Avengers

I think funding the rise of nearly every Spidey villain would top all of these.

Thor had done far worse than what Steve had done. Helping a friend in need and a refusal to sign one's name under false pretences is what Thor would do too.

Tony literally told Steve that the signatures don't matter because they can change the rules later. And you see Tony breaking the Accords himself later in the film because he never respected it. It was always meant to be a hollow gesture. But Steve outright refuse to sign anything unless he was actually going to obey it.

>>
>>82544338
Ask Whedon. A lot of his storytelling is inconsistent and makes no sense.
>>
>>82544222

It's probably hard to sit up, the suit's not that flexible, there aren't that many joints so he can make way for more armor. Plus Cap was sitting on his chest. Plus Cap broke his rocket boots earlier so he couldn't just shoot out of that position like he did with Thor. PLUS Cap was repeatedly slamming his shield into Tony's helmet (the thinnest part of his armor, besides I guess his fingers and joints), eventually breaking it, meaning Tony was injured and disoriented (since he's still feeling the impact through the helmet), not exactly thinking clearly.

It was the perfect storm of everything going wrong in the five seconds it took for Cap to break the helmet. Then Tony instinctively shielded his face before doing anything else. Then Cap, with one quick blow, disabled the arc reactor.

I loved Tony in this

He is just a dude who is scared for his family (The Avengers) and doesn't want to lose them.

Keep in mind he is the only one who saw the vision of Thanos fucking killing everyone.

Also I think that Spidey will be a huge source of healing for Tony in his solo movie.

If Tony were an emotionally stable guy that wasn't spending millions of dollars on trying to develop therapy methods for his parents' deaths 25 years ago, and didn't have ptsd panic attacks and a history of reacting to everything badly, maybe it would have been easier. As it is, Steve isn't really the best about talking about his feelings either. Should he have told him? Yeah, and he probably should have asked somebody more capable of mediating like Natasha.

But given all that, Tony still didn't have the right to try to kill Bucky for Hydra's mindfucking and Steve's cowardice. Stopping Tony from taking his anger out on the wrong person was still the right thing to do for Tony and for Bucky.

I don't know, there's something to be said about the certain irony which, however understandable his actions are, still exists. Namely that Tony was showing so much worry about people pulling a weapon on him and then that woman hits him with the fact that his actions murdered her son. He created Ultron and kickstarted the loss of all those lives, but he doesn't want anyone to kill him. It wasn't his intention, it wasn't something he had control over. The Hulk, who Banner barely controls at the best of times, has created collateral damage and apparently killed innocent people. He certainly fucked up that city in Age of Ultron. He wasn't in control and used as a weapon, thanks to, of all people, the Scarlet Witch, one of his teammates.

These are the actions that Tony says must be used to keep them in check, under control (but a lot can be said about him just wanting someone else to make the call so they take the blame when shit goes bad. He can say, "It wasn't my fault, I didn't kill your son, it was 117 countries!")

Once it's personal, though, once it's someone he cares about deeply he immediately goes off the rails.

You know, FRIDAY was pretty cool with Tony trying to murder Bucky, so you gotta wonder how JARVIS would've handled that situation if Tony still had him.

T'Challa lost his father a few days prior. Tony had 25 years. I get it, he felt betrayed and hurt. I'll give him that first hit at Steve for admitting he knew, that was justified. But if he actually killed Bucky while knowing he was a brainwashing victim? After he cooled down I don't think he'd have been too happy with himself, because it doesn't change what happened and Bucky really isn't to blame. It solves nothing other than adding more blood to his own conscience. At least with Steve stopping him they have a chance to repair their relationship somewhere down the line. If Tony killed Bucky, it'd be over and Tony would be full villain territory and no different from Zemo.

At least T'Challa recognized his mistake, spared Zemo, and is making up for it by helping Bucky out. Because it's the right thing to do and he learns from his mistakes.

>>82545237
I'll agree with that. I mean let's consider how much shit Tony has kickstarted in his career. I don't even think the list here >>82544188 is complete. Neither Tony's dad or mom would be happy that he avenged them by murdering a man turned into a mindfucked tool, a weapon. How many people died by Stark's weapons Stane sold to the Ten Rings? How many degrees of separation do you allow yourself so you don't feel the burning shame? The Ironman suit was supposed to be a tool to stop the crap that was happening that he had the power to stop, not just a weapon. If he used it to murder a man who wasn't really to blame then yeah I don't think Tony would forgive himself once he came to his senses. He'd never feel any sense of pride or vindication for his parent's murder.
>>
>>82545238
>Hey, at least his sexy Irish AI voice got more movietime. Maybe eventually Tony will swap her out for the Jocasta chip, or Vision will borrow it when he decides it's time for a girlfriend and it turns out Wanda really does scare him.
It would be far easier for Tony to get really drunk one day, decided he wanted a Pepper Potts sex droid, build the body in a weekend after analysing Vision's physical design, and put FRIDAY in it.

Steve is just faster than Tony. The Ironman suit is capable of keeping up with Steve but Tony himself wasn't. So Tony's own inferior reflexes was actually a weakness and Tony became desperate enough to let his AI take direct control.

After Age of Ultron, Tony would have been really hesitant in giving an AI power over the suit he is currently wearing. But he was desperate. And we end up seeing that the AI had surpassed Tony in combat capability, and soon there will be no reason for Tony to be inside his own suits.

That was a pretty powerful ending to that arc, I thought. For him to look past his grief to the larger issues after all the rage he had over his father's death? That was a good counterpoint to have at the end, when so many others were giving in to personal feelings or bias.

>I guess Ant-Man was the last film to come out before this so I don't blame them for missing the mark a little bit
The script writers outright had to change Scott's motivation because they didn't know about what was in the Antman film, and they had originally put Scott on Pro-Accord's side. But then the Antman writers got involved and told them Pym would have wanted nothing to do with a Stark, and they had to switch Antman's allegiance.

So Scott WAS going to be on the pro-Accord team and obeying the law, but Hank Pym forced the character to go the other way.

>>82545420
You are literally giving a reason as to why it doesn't matter. He didn't have to rely on reflexes because the AI took over
>>
>>82545372
That's when they recast. First by saying, "Oh yeah, well we're doing an origins story so we need a younger actress for this earlier part of Natasha's life. It's totally in-line with our story telling policy and Scarjo is behind us 110%!" And then the day after her contract is up, "Oh well we lost Scarjo but that's fine we all loved that new actress, right? Sure she's the younger version from the origin story but she wowed us so much we felt we had to give her the opportunity and it is in total line with our story telling policy."

Different anon here. The issue is if Tony start to let FRIDAY control the suit for his battles, there would be no reason for Tony to EVER be in the suit anymore. We already saw that he could pilot his suits via remote control, so there is now no reason for Tony to put himself in danger if he was just going to get into Friday's way.
>>
>>82545441
They can't really pull that after using the deaging technology on RDJ and Michael Douglas. I don't think her movie is going to be an origin story anyway, though it'll probably feature a few flashbacks.

Zemo only cared about himself and his family. If he was at all worried about innocent people dying, he wouldn't have blown up a bunch of people at the UN or killed that psychologist. He was just rationalizing his revenge plot.

>That's when they recast. First by saying, "Oh yeah, well we're doing an origins story so we need a younger actress for this earlier part of Natasha's life. It's totally in-line with our story telling policy and Scarjo is behind us 110%!"

Marvel had already declared that they intend to treat their characters like James Bond, in that they would switch actors when needed. This despite there being plenty of outrage in the hardcore fanbase who insist that Tony Stark needed to die with RDJ's retirement.

Scarjo is going to be replaced one day, and she knows it better than anyone. But if she can get one solo film I am sure she would see it as a good way to end her involvement.

According to the writers of Civil War, they were instructed to write two scripts, one with Spiderman and one without.

The Writers later confirmed that they NEVER actually wrote the script that didn't contain Spiderman.

They had a excuse as it wasn't a real flashback, but is instead in-universe CGI that Tony Stark built for his own use. And it is easy to explain that Tony Stark might have designed his young self the way he thought he was suppose to look like, rather than what he actually used to look like.

I know that elsewhere people hate me for saying it, but I think if they are going to recast Pepper, they might as well switch out RDJ at the same time. It is probably less painful to do it all in one go.

Not saying they needed to do it soon. But at some point when they decided that Pepper need a reappearance, it might be time for Tony to get a fresh face too.

Thematically it also makes sense for Pepper's absence to cause Tony to spiral out of control. She had been his rock all this time, but Pepper had no obligation to do that. She isn't even married to him, she shouldn't have to deal with his mental issues.

I am just listening to the podcast of the writers of Civil War, and they explained that "The start of the mission had to end with a suicide bombing, because there must not be a living villain who could be blamed for it."
Basically if Crossbone lived, the anger would have been focused on him. And him killing himself is what directs public anger towards those who were there to help.

Another part of the Civil War script;
The reason they didn't kill anyone, and in particular not killing Steve Rogers, is because they want the team broken and disorganised when Thanos show up. Death of a team member would have forced the team to rally and reconcile, and that would not be the desired end of this film.

Further, the writers think death at this point in the story is actually LESS painful than the alternative. They want the team members to fight, and then to live with the fact that they are no longer friends. Not having deaths is one of the reason why the team is currently in taters, as death is too great a unifier.
>>
>>82546948
>as death is too great a unifier.
I actually thought this would happen. I was expecting Cap to die like the stupid cop out from BvS (Oh BOO YOU ARE A DANGER, OH NO HE'S DEAD HE'S OUR HERO NOW GUYS) bull crap that they pulled.

I'm glad by the end of the film, the team IS still trying to pick itself up and is still open for interpretation. Until the next movie that is.

With the end of the Airport fight, Rhodey was always meant to be the guy who get shot down. And from the very beginning it was going to be Vision who did it, because they didn't want Tony to blame Steve and also helps Vision to learn what it feels to make mistakes.

Also, earlier they are implying it is possible Vision might no longer be able to lift Thor's hammer. That Vision was a newborn innocent child back then, but now he lived long enough to start making mistakes.

With War Machine, they also agree that this leaves room for Rhodey to have his own future story now that he also have a health problem, just like when Tony had his heart injury.

As we see before he signed and at the end of the film, Tony only signed because he mistakenly thought that he could get around the Accords if and when he needed to. He assumed that he could throw enough lawyers at the UN to get what he wanted.

Tony didn't count on Ross to take charge of the entire thing and stonewall Tony on every decision.

When the writers were told to save a spot for Spiderman. they had Black Panther in the script just as himself, a king, and not in costume. Then they were told that the Spiderman deal fell through, so they filled that spot by having Black Panther join the fights.
After the email leaks Marvel got access to Spiderman again, but the writers loved Black Panther's existing involvement to much, so they kept both of them in the film.

With Thanos, the writers have no intention to make him pure evil. They made it clear that Thanos had being a complex existence in the Comics for a while. They are currently working on the issue about how far they can go with his literal love of Death, with the main issue being that they can't make a movie around that alone.

They apparently have some zanny ideas, and is hoping the combination of Doctor Strange and GotG2 would warm up the audience for what they have planned for Thanos. (Keeping in mind that they themselves currently don't know where Doctor Strange and GotG2 are going plot wise.)

The writers considered the possibility of writing Civil War without a villain at all. But in the end they needed somebody in order for Bucky to end up where he needed to be.

Also, they explained that if Tony didn't show up at the end, Zemo would just keep that video and reveal it later when and where it suits his purposes.

Let's put this to bed right now: Superheroes can't prevent every single civilian causality. In a clash between capes vs. aliens, capes vs. rogue robots, etc there will be inevitable collateral damage.

In the civil law, you are under no obligation to rescue a drowning person, but if you attempt to rescue someone you can be found negligent if your actions make the situation worse despite your noble intentions.
>>
>>82548123
Unless you live in a state that has the *Good Samaritan* law in place. You can be charged for inaction when action is proven to be possible (e.g., pulling an inattentive texter out of the way of oncoming traffic).

>If you were that self-interested you wouldn't have become a hero anyways.
A hero can only help those who want to be helped. You can't rescue the unwilling.
>>
>>82548399
No, I'm a hero for a species that deserves protection. Also, getting bitched at tends to make one move down the moral spectrum...

What an entitled, petty, miserable lot humanity actually is.

Basically, we read about drones & airstrikes hitting civilians all the time. Cops kill soo many unarmed people nowadays it isn't even news. Expecting heroes to be safely regulated is like thinking gun control laws would work.

Unless a hero has reality warping powers, he can't protect everyone.
>>
>>82548490
>Unless a hero has reality warping powers, he can't protect everyone.

They aren't expected to protect everyone. But they are expected to take accountability for any damages if they're found to have made the situation worse. And the only a jury of your peers can determine if the steps you took were reasonable, or if you were some negligent hot-shot going off half-cocked.
