A little worse. But it doesn't matter as they mostly look the same when they are in motion.

Or is he still dystopian cyberpunk CEO?
>>

>>

I don't give a shit if it was OP, Tony should've at least got to use it for good for a few issues.
>>
>>82528700

Literally the point, which is what Whedon seemed to forget.

Based Russos went some way to bringing back War Machine as a fucking tank.
>>
>>82528700
I think that's the problem with them no longer making full suits to film with. Mark 45 and 46 may both look great from a design perspective, but it's getting more apparent that the suits are more CGI than anything.
>>
>>82528953
If you want to believe really hard, the Superior armor is based on the Venom symbiote, Tony will be a character in Spider-Man: Homecoming, supposedly mentoring Peter, if in the future Spider-Man comes across the symbiote, guess who he would send it to, and guess what Tony would do with it.

Well, yes, but it's pretty much the same in terms of mechanics. It's just sprayed from the inside instead of outside.
>>

Even before that Tony went from sci-fi flexible, superhard metal that could be carried in a briefcase and put on like regular clothes to huge clunky hunks of metal that needed a separate machine to put on. The tech level is really inconsistent.

I guess this is the inspiration for that one scene in Age of Ultron?
>>

What if the hunks of metal were simply more durable and allowed for bigger strength enhancement through servos?

I like the Mach V suitcase suit a lot, if we're only talking MCU. Was a callback to the classic era of Iron Man and I enjoyed it greatly.

Also the suitup sequence was the tits. Too bad it's canonically the weakest of the suits save perhaps the Mach I.

Yeah I know what you mean. I get power creep and all that, but really, c'mon. Having specialised armors and "balanced but weaker" armors seems like it affords far more storytelling opportunities than "lol my suit can do whatever I need".

Reminds me of those golden age comics where heroes gained and lost powers from issue to issue to be able to solve any problem within a single story and just never acknowledge it again.

We've pretty much missed the boat on ever seeing it since the armors have become so sleek and high tech modular and whatnot but I wish we'd seen the Ultimate Armor as an early model. It actually looks like an ideal halfway point between the lowtech mk 1 and the sleek mk 2 to me.

They couldn't really have fit it into the original Iron Man movie, which was tight and focused, but I'm still a bit disappointed.

I like the idea of Rescue, but I feel like if you're going to show off the female form in a power armor, a "mono-boob" chest piece looks best (like a Gundam or Tracer's chest piece in Overwatch, or Samus' suit, actually.).

Or just got "one-size fits most" and give her an androgynous suit like in Armored Adventures.

Mostly because boobplate makes me think either spandex instead of power armor, or fantasy instead of technology.

But that's just my brand of autism.
>>
>>82534397
no I would agree with the monoboob plating or even a form fitting flat plat, I just miss Rescue and want her back.
I just find it weird that as soon as Fraction gets off Ironman it's like they pretend it was never a thing, it literally feels like the entire idea was soft retconned
>>
>>82534397
Breast-contoured armor is a terrible idea. The last thing you want is for attacks to slide along the inside contours to a focal point where they're more likely to pierce. Rounding is meant to direct attacks to slide off the armor, not create divots where the attacks can no longer move from and thus transfer all their energy to that point and thus increase the damage.

That's a shame. Honestly, I'd think Tony would try to armor up about all his closest friends.

Naturally, some would decline but I could see how from Pepper's stand point, it would always be handy to have on hand.

>>82534576
I'm not even taking about realism, here. I just mean how it "feels" to the sort of sub-genre Ironman and friends are tied to, namely science fiction.

And while spandex power suits are a thing too, when I think of "The Iron Family" I sort of imagine something a bit less form fitting.

>That's a shame. Honestly, I'd think Tony would try to armor up about all his closest friends.
I do agree on that front. Hell if not armor them up, he would at the very least offer upgrades and new tech to make their lives easier and make sure there was some level of protection for them

The Rescue was there because they had to make Pepper important after ignoring her for years because of the IM films.

The IM films are over now and Pepper won't be appearing anymore, so Rescue was tossed.

Like how they made Rhodes Iron Patriot for like 2 months before they realized it was a one movie thing.
>>
>>82536254
Rescue suits make a lot of sense as a saleable product for Stark Enterprises though, really. Disable unibeam and reduce the flight speed/ceiling and repulsor strength, along with low-power arc reactor, and you have a reasonable suit for FEMA and other agencies.
>>
>>82529208
Is this Sailor Moon?
>>
>>82535351
Wasn't that suit also in the Iron Manime?
>>
Before Tony blew up all his suits he really should have thought about giving some of them to his Avengers teammates. Iron Widow, Iron Hawk etc.
>>
>>82536368
Knowing the Marvel universe, though, someone is willing to hijack one of the suits and try to overclock the output of the arc reactor to make it a weapon.

This is why the Marvel Universe cannot have nice things.

worse for Mark 42/43, better for 44, 45, and 46.

XLVI is the best-looking MCU suit so far. Can't wait to see what they have in store for Infinity War, since the Russos seem to have good taste in Armor design (he probably re-uses the XLVI in Spiderman: Homecoming, though he might also have a secret non-Accords approved armor he's hiding as well.)
>>
>>82535351
This suit was so prominent in the promotion of the movie that either it was a purposeful troll by Marvel or there was a change of plans late in the game. The fact that the movie ACTUAL post-credits scene is pretty shitty kind of corroborates that.
>>
I don't have a pic but I thought CW Iron Man had too much solid red on the legs
>>

One of the few times I think Marvel comics should take something from the movies because the new suit in Bendis's comic is ugly as fuck.

Probably because everyone knows inversion was stupid and that Stark wasn't really himself so much as what he would be like if he indulged in his Id.

Besides, his new suit is far cooler.

You're asking for some shitty villain who's only super power is turning iron into rust be a legitimate hard-counter to Iron Man, buddy.
>>
>>82527725
Just got back from Civil War. Fucking excellent. But i dont think the suits are getting better. Its kind of busy, and the way it assembles makes it seem weak, like its a million tiny parts, the way it forms around him. Same with the start of AoU, when it just opens up and he steps out. The old suits seemed like the outside was a dozen or so strong, thick plates, and I miss that bulk.

Also, the CGI suits are noticeable when Tony is just standing and talking. Downey's head looks cut and pasted at some points.

my faves (in order of appearance)(in the movies)(honestly I know most of these from the mobile game bc the movie wasted so much potential by showing them for 5sec each) are
MKI - I love the bulky design
MKII/War Machine - I love the Silver of mk2 and the bulkiness of WM
MKV - cool design and really portable
MKVI - triangle
MKVII - I like the addition of the jetpack
MKXVII - huge fucking unibeam, I wish they used that in IM3
MKXXXIII - the classic silver centurion
MKXXXVII - I like the idea of a submarine suit, I know his regular one is capable of deep dives too but I just like it, idk
MKXXXIX - I love the design and color scheme
MKXL - speeeeed
MKXLIII - amazing design/color scheme
MKXLIV - muuhfuggin hulkbuster
MKXLV - cool design
MKXLVI - fantastic design

some of my fave comics ones are
classic red and gold
silver centurion
extremis
bleeding edge
black and gold
superior
man, they keep one upping themselves in the comics, I like most of his designs from the past ~15 years

Isnt it a thing that as the suits get more advanced, they get smaller and less bulky/more streamlined? Much like technology itself?
>>
>>82543887
that actually doesn't happen that much with combat-oriented tech, which privileges bulky, solid components because they're less malfunction-prone and easier to fix.
>>
Once, just once, I want to see an armor that simply goes with:
>Yellow faceplate, upper arms, upper legs
>Red elsewhere

No complex patterns of red/yellow, and no stupid grey bits.

>>82528047

>Figuarts usually get slightly better sculpts
>Figuarts
>better sculpts
They have some of the worst sculptors in the collector industry

Figuarts almost always suffer from poor proportions and other odd issues, like not being in scale with one another within the same series.
>>
Worse. I miss the focus given in Iron Man 1, 2 and Avengers to the specific upgrades and Mark numbers. It was really cool watching the evolution.

Post Iron Man 3 (where they turned that evolution into a joke) they don't give any focus and the suit just generically gets better.

I both love and hate the suit gradually becoming quicker to put on. Love that it shows Tony constantly refining the tech to the point that he'll eventually always have the suit with him, but I miss the suit up sequences

I'm gonna bet he doesn't use armor at all in Spiderman, and just kinda hangs back in a supporting role, throwing gadgets at Parker. The Q to Spidey's Bond
>>
>>82545798
he didn't have his suit with him though

I guess that's pepper's fault tho

otherwise he'd have it in sentry mode all the time like MK42 in IM3 and when they were infiltrating Strucker's castle

He wasn't de-eviled, he died in Avengers at the start of the final incursion when a Helicarrier dropped on him and Old Cap.

After that the universe was reset and it has not yet been revealed just what happened to make him nice again.

Maybe he was de-eviled, maybe Franklin just recreated him this way.

>>82527878 here. I know it's been awhile since you asked but here are my 2 cents. I own the Figma of Avengers Iron Man, and Figuarts Mark 43 and 45, along with a bunch of other Figma and Figuarts figures, including the Avengers line ups.

The Figma line by GSC/Max Factory excels at anime styled characters above all else. Figures based on stylized characters and non human ones look great. When it comes to more realistic sculpts, they falter. Other than that, quality is pretty high across the board with a few exceptions. They did an Iron Man for the first Avengers, and have retooled him into the different Mks. They might do MK 46 eventually, but it won't come out for a while. As someone who owns the Avengers Mk, I think it's an alright figure. He's fucking huge and well articulated, but I don't think he's as sleek as he could be. Most of his accessories were included in a special and expensive exclusive release I wasn't going to pay 100 dollars for, which was a huge let down, as Figma figures come with tons of accessories. That one guy saying Figma is cheaper is wrong, especially in Iron Man's case. If you use a Japanese shop that converts from JPY, Figma Iron Man is in the $60 to $80 range while the Figuarts stuff is like $50.

The S.H Figuarts line by Bandai excels at supeheroes. They do Kamen Rider and other Toku shit that looks fucking great. Other stuff can occasionly be hit or miss, and there's a few duds in general. They also are better at masked characters than realistic people. That guy insulting their sculpt quality is wrong though, as it's general very good beyond a few issues. Their Iron Man stuff is really poseable and well engineered. I think it's superior to the Figma stuff in how it's sculpted. Figma Iron Man isn't as sleek and is too bulky. Their other Avengers figures are far better than the Figma ones too, but they probably go for a lot second hand.

Marvel Legends and Select are perfectly good cheaper alternatives, too.
