I feel like Vriska can't make complete use of her Luck powers while she's out fighting in the infinite void, though. I have a theory that her powers are more effective when the environment is a lot more dynamic and there are more things that can go wrong for her opponent. Sort of like light, luck is only visible when there are things for it to bounce off of.

I'm surprised nobody posted this in that thread actually.

The entire comic broke down the second it stopped being about four very charismatic kids who were good yet simultaneously distant friends with extremely different motivations and methods of interacting with the situation they were presented with.

Basically, the second Bowman's version of "How Do I Live" stopped feeling like it could totally, slightly ironically fit during a major moment of the comic, the comic died. It thrived on being an obtuse, messy little narrative about stuff that's over the top but actually relatable.

See that's the thing with luck in a combat scenario, its maximum potential is always relative to what the creator envisions. You're probably right in that it's more likely to have an increased chance of success in a situation with a load more variables, but depending on the interpretation of the the potential of luck, it may not even matter. It either works or doesn't work even in the void of space.

I personally felt that Vriska's luck only went so far, could only reach a specific potential in the face of an opponent so grossly above her capability; like a damage cap on an 'instant kill' ability, or perhaps an execute. Either way, I like to imagine she has to actually have a way to pierce whatever her opponents defenses are with her powers in an all or nothing move. So, in the context of Bec Noir if he realised what she was doing he could just insta-teleport away then come back when her one shot is done. If he doesn't realise, and doesn't instantly teleport then she may have had a chance at insta-gibbing him, but that'd be a bit silly for the guy to forget his ability.

In terms of le ebin ruse meme, I just have an eye for details I guess. Like when you're playing a video game and you get a buff item before a boss, your initial gut reaction might just be 'cool an item' but with experience you realize 'oh I should use this on the boss' but people see this as an ebin troll as if I would actually waste all our time pretending to be new

She realised she had a big part to play and was happy to play it, then when given the freedom of choice again she chose to commit to seeing how everything ended. The problem is that there is no point where Aradia and Jade ever interact on screen, and her and John only appear together in dream bubbles, so there are no opportunities. Not to mention that if they (Aradia, Dave, Rose) stopped to fight him after arriving on the meteor, it would have taken who knows how long to arrive in the session. Not, I suppose, that that matters when they're traveling through the Outer Rim - Aradia may well have floated her way through literally all of time in the three years it took them to settle the plot.

I like to think that sburb changes the way it works based on the species that inhabit the planet it lands on.
