who's better?

bad news
The true king of the sunday funnies.
Garfield has a more superficial appeal to the common readers, but if you're willing to dedicate yourself to understanding the lore, Heathcliff is the superior comic.
>>82447736
This faggot is better.
>>82447736
Garfield had far greater highs through its animated specials
>>82447736
why don't you ask him yourself

Reminder

I'm inclined to side with the king of extreme awfulness than the king of mediocrity.
Garfield
>Jon memes
>a halloween special that still holds up
>that interesting 9 Lives animation anthology
>that one week of the strip where Garfield went through an existential crisis and Jim Davis cleverly squeezed more storytelling with more panels within the three primary panels each day.
>that strip where Jon got flipped off by a hawaiian native
>that strip that predicted 9/11 the day before
Heathcliff
>graciously provided an outlet for Japan to draw a sexy cat girl.
>bad news memes
give it to Garfield
>>82447736
that's the same cat twice you ain't foolin me son
>>82448043
>that strip that predicted 9/11 the day before
Never saw this one, you got sauce?
Heathcliff comics have given me more enjoyment and laughs than any other strip.
Garfield is my nostalgic classic but I gotta go with my boy Heathcliff.
>>82448043
>that strip that predicted 9/11 before it happened
wait what
Garfield.
>>82447956
He's not dead. It's a setup for a later plot twist where Heathcliff is revealed to be the final boss. It only makes sense as he predates Garfield.
Screencap if you must.

Is this even a question? Heathcliff is post-humor avant garde. Garfield is just a shitty mass market appeal rip-off with none of the charm.
garfielf
Garfield and Friends alone more than justifies Garfield's existence. What a great show.
Has Heathcliff ever been funny? Can't think of a single example.
>>82449167
This.
>>82449211
It's not supposed to be, it's post-post-post-modern art. So ahead of its time that we have an entire generation of post-post-modern art to get through before people really get it.
>>82449385
I see.
>>82449385
In other words, it's a shitty comic that people love ironically.
Sounds like /co/, all right.
>>82449706
You don't understand. Heathcliff isn't just regular unfunny. It's the smile-devourer, where laughs go to die.
>>82449706
I love it completely unironically. I wouldn't go so far as to call it funny, but I unironically enjoy it more than any comic currently being published.
>>82447956he really should have stuck in an "Abu Dhabi" refernece to make this scene 10/10

I gwess I'll never be anything mroe than whisy wasyd Chaleid Bruon!
>>82449836

Heathcliff can evoke anger, despair or sadness, but never joy.
I've been pretty close to crying from just how aggressively unfunny Heathcliff is. If I were told I "needed" to cry for catharsis or something at a sad point in my life, I have a Heathcliff folder just waiting.
>>82447736
Neither, both are criminally unfunny.

The only correct answer

Post it
Heathcliff is the only real answer here.
>>82449706
Most /heathcliff/ people enjoy Heathcliff post-ironically, not ironically. It is sincere enjoyment.
>>82447956
Calvin's characterization in this is unironically one of the greatest fanfiction takes of all time.
>>82449211
Yesterday's panel was actually pretty good.
>>82452090
I don't get it
>>82452130
Instead of arguing with the ump about a disputed call, he's arguing with the replay guy who can't do anything but replay what happened in the game. It is an attempt at a joke and coherent which means that it is humorous by Heathcliff standards. I personally prefer more absurdist panels, though.
>>82450441
I could never tell what the fuck k was happening in any of the episodes
