How do you draw buildings? I'm so bad at architecture.
>>
>>82446066
Look at a building.
Draw it.
Does it look good?
No, it doesn't.
Move over a little bit and try again.
Good?
No.
Try looking up an aerial view online.
Still bad.
Try looking up the side of the wall and draw that.

Eventually you will start to understand the basics of architecture. Probably.
>>
>>82446148
>look at a building
Good point, tbH.
I based most of my buildings off video game buildings but they never match up with the story because two different themes.
Thanks, anon.
>>
>>82446066
at least theyre angular enough that perspective becomes simple (and more obvious what went wrong if you get them wrong. and easier to fix.) but yeah architecture is hard. i never pay attention to the shape of boring shit in real life. big city buildings are all kind of the same rectangular prisms with grids of windows, apartment buildings are the same, but even then I can't plan out where they should go, what height they should be...

I just can't seem to sit down with a concrete idea for more than a month. It's more like this during winter/spring though, for some reason. I hope I can get some focus during summer.

>>82446429
They're all different stories completely, most of the time, but it does happen that I take elements from some and combine them in another thing.
>>
>>82446356
I had to connect them all to keep them from going irrelevant.

Just look up some pictures of city streets (or whatever you're drawing), and try to get a feeling for how things look. Plenty of cities are drawn in cape comics too, which can offer a look at how people stylize buildings or what shortcuts are taken in their construction compared to the real thing. It's pretty tedious work to actually draw them, but figuring out how to set that stuff up shouldn't be too hard.

Stylisation - AKA: how not to tumblrnose your shit

Just how do you address your comics portrayal of people and expressions. Simple or realistic? Somewhere in between?

I'm struggling at the moment with faces where i'd like a measure of appeal but simple enough to not become a problem time wise. At the moment for example i'm looking at Goseki Kojimas work in Samurai Executioner which somehow managed to be both simple and complex

The short answer is a lotta perspective lines and a hatred of city-windows.

But shit, this is comics, you can cut corners. I've traced over Saints Row 4 screenshots I've taken or make a house in the Sims and use that for reference. It's good to know how to build it from scratch, but deadlines are deadlines.

>>82446356

Unhelpful answer: the one that works for the story.

But generally speaking, whoever is speaking first should be on the left, to avoid crossing balloon tails. This is not a hard and fast rule, however.

Is there anything more specific you want to know?

The best thing to do would be to not use MS Paint.

1) the windows 7+ versions of microsoft paint always do that

3) "MS paint art" is never actually done in MS Paint - it is done in other programs, such as GIMP, photoshop and SAI.
4) you should probably get a graphics tablet before taking on any digital art, reguardless of whether it's on MS paint or not

Depends on the project. People IRL don't have outlines, but few of us straight out paint our shit. The manner in which you reference reality should probably be keyed to the tone of your current story.

"Appeal" is pretty bullshit without specific context. I don't think I'd read Hellboy in Disney's style.

If it's a calm, everyday discussion, make the panels large and regular and zoomed out.

Show the environment when neither character needs to emote. Like, a close-up of what's on TV if they're watching TV and talking, some random passer-by if they're sitting in a café, stuff like that. The kind of things that would briefly grab your attention if you were talking to someone in real life.

There is something of a revolution in A.I. looking to replace a plethora of jobs - including junk jobs. Things are going okay.
I updated yesterday.
http://cosmic-tales.tumblr.com/page/4
I am going to limit myself to black and white for awhile until I have time to study up on color theory and maybe get a more up to date digital set up.
I ended up scrapping pic related and one other page. I have rethought the chapter and I am going to do the layouts over from scratch. Tonight I am going to do designs, maps and layouts.

That anon isn't me.
The 2nd pose works because it's from the front and there's no need for a spine.
The first is weird because she's leaning back on the top half. The shadow is also strange since her left hand looks like it's going forward from the shoulder but the shadow stays flat.
It would work in a NG animation but comics have to show their own motion in a single panel and there's none in the first picture.

>>
>>82459126
Wellll basically ask her why she wants to publish it instead of just making it, and go from there. If she wants to show it to her friends, awesome. Just have her share it with her friends. If she REALLY wants to get going and have a big audience and shit, let her know that requires a lot of maturity and the results aren't guaranteed to be pleasant, but you'll support her all the way, then tell her about making your own site and sharing it with others
>>
>>82459190
>>82459288
She doesn't even read webcomics, she reads some cape and animu shit sometimes. She watches cartoons sometimes too.
>>82459449
She's always liked drawing and writing, it's mainly her passion but I also think she wants to reach out to people and give them something to enjoy. She told me the characters are going to be traveling through different cultures or some leftist shit like that, but she's extremely lazy so I don't know.
>>
>>82459848
ha, just let her play then. she sounds like she needs to figure that out on her own, in order to really do what she wants to
>>
>>82459888
Thing is, she might actually be serious because she's made reference sheets and scripts/plot triangles for it already. She's having me read them to give my input but I'm bad at critiquing and supporting that's why I came here.

Grab her a copy of Scott McCloud's "Making Comics" and Scott McCloud's "Understanding Comics" if you've got the cash. If not, pdfs of it are super easy to find.

If she can read em both cover-to-cover, she's genuinely serious about it. Plus, she'll start with a super-solid foundation.
>>
>>82460013
ohh I see. Well if you're unable to give good critique, you should admit it. all you can do is be honest and be yourself.. and if she's okay with that, then keep doing your best. but if she needs better feedback, there's no reason she cant post her shit for better helpers to see. hell, i'd help her. she might not even be the youngest we've had in here (i definitely recall someone posting something their little sister made once, and we were able to give useful feedback)

A boy falls in love with a girl.

Unable to confess, he is gifted by a deus ex machina with the girl's phone number. Never minding the strange area code, he immediately calls her, and is overjoyed to find out that she has a crush on him as well.

But, the next day, when he recounts the previous day's confessions to the girl, she only looks at him with a perplexed expression. After some investigation, he finds out that the girl he called is not the same girl he fell in love with. In fact, she doesn't exist in this universe at all. She is the girl's alternate universe counterpart, who has fallen in love with the MC's own AU self, who too is blissfully unaware of her crush.

Hijinks ensue as the two strike up a deal to give each other their darkest, most private secrets in order to equip the other with the weapons they need to conquer the heart of their other selves. While the two chase their respective loved ones, DRAMA ensues as they begin to fall in love with each other instead and question the NATURE of LOVE.

Cool I'll tell her that. One time I told her the style and plot reminded me of SU and GF which was supposed to be a compliment but she got all sad about it, which she shouldn't because those are great shows.

>>82463193
Style looks nothing like SU or GF.
I know there're animators who draw like that though. It kind of reminds me of Zeurel's art.

it's not "REALLY GOOD" but it's good for a 16 year old. If she is serious about art tell her to lurk /ic/ for a while, but don't post unless she is willing to take a beating. Alternative Art/Stylization General or Beginner Thread are good places for her to start posting, the most vicious people are in the Draw Thread, which are for the more frustrated losers aiming for fine arts, like myself.

>>
>>82463027
well that's not bad, she can make something of it.

>Thing is, she might actually be serious because she's made reference sheets and scripts/plot triangles

That's kinda normal for a girl who reads a lot of anime/manga. It may or may not be a phase.
How are the scripts? Actually, how good does she want her comic to become?
There's a difference between making a webcomic for fun and making one for internet fame and patreon riches which probably won't happen.

>she's extremely lazy
if she's too lazy to learn how to form a interesting script, update regularly, and improve her artwork, then there is no comic. Yeah, it seems overwhelming when you get around to attempting it, but keep in mind there is no penalty for fucking up and trying again.

>/ic/
The sticky post at the top basically has everything you can ask for art related
>>
>>82463566
I'll get her loomis for her birthday then
>>82463613
>how good are the scripts
Honestly the basic premise sounds really generic but the way she goes about doing it is odd. The story is a girl-meets-guy type of thing but it's supposed to be a comedy and plays a lot with absurd cartoonishness, as if it's always making fun of itself. It's not a romance either, the main protagonists are in a handcuff type situation.
>how good does she want her comic to become
Really big, she's being a total jew about how to gain an audience. Thing is, she's good at hiding the pandering, I wouldn't know some of it without her telling me before hand.

>generic
doesn't matter as long as its interesting

>the way she does it is odd
making it simpler is always better. A clear goal that someone wants to reach and how they are going to do it. Conflict arises when someones motivation runs counter to another's.
Did the script hold your interest? Did it at least not turn you away due to cringe? It may need revising if it did,
That 'Scrub Authors Goodie Bag' post at the top of this thread has a pdf link to the book of storytelling, 'Invisible Ink'.
It's pretty good, though it's actually meant for one-off stories like in movies or novels, not for, say, cape comics where they want the conflict to drag on for as long as possible.

>Really big
probably thoughts of grandeur that I also had at that age. She may burn (or bore) herself out by biting off more than she can chew, though if she knows what audience to target, and kept updating her comic (no matter how bad it may be), she will have gained a foothold in comic making and will probably have an idea of where she wants to go next when she grows up.

Also, her theories of how to gain an audience may not pan out, especially the first time around. Prepare her for disappointment and try again

>>
>>82464427
>Did the script hold your interest?
It turned out much different then expected. I thought it was going to be episodic, but after awhile it starts developing deeper and there are some plot twists I wasn't expecting. She's keeping it pg but there's some very adult concepts in there, I don't know how to feel about it. I wouldn't say it's bad though, I just wouldn't have taken my own time to purposely find it and read it if I was some random guy. However, she does do a lot of research, hopefully that will be recognized by whomever.
>Did it at least not turn you away due to cringe?
I'd say some points where cringe but I called her out on it so hopefully she'll change them.
She's prepared to fail too, but I think she's going for the absurd comic route because it's a pillow for bad righting she can fall back on. She needs to learn to take critic anyways.

>>
>>82464555
Where do I begin? I can tell she's put some fetish bait in there, though it works as plot device (hypnotism, body swapping, one of the characters gets turned into an animal at one point). Ethnic variation is huge but then again these characters travel everywhere. There's a lot of history and /X/ shit in there too to appeal to redditors. Also memes, but I'm keeping an eye to make sure it doesn't get over the top obnoxious.
I should also add that she's an AP lit. kid so she's pretty educated on storytelling for her age but then again reading Hemingway doesn't make you Hemingway.
>>
>>82464670
>>82464786
it's 2 AM for me so I hope you're here tomorrow.
If she's AP Lit for storytelling, that gives her an advantage that puts her above most beginners such as, well, almost everyone in this thread.
Remember to keep the story small, then work it up in a way that's easy for the reader to keep track of. Don't make it profound for the sake of profoundness. I personally hate memes, but the good ones are subtle enough to not intrude on the story for those who don't get the reference.
>>
>>82464887

i learned, if you're going to just use shades of gray as tones for items, hair, etc. in your comic (you're B&Wing), sticking to just 3 (or 4) shades is the best. And then using black for shadows. It looks kind of empty, but it's better than having clusterfuck of shades.

And then for SAI users, you can type anything in Paint, select it using the box Selection Tool, paste it to SAI and then go to Layer -> Desaturate. Very useful transferring of texts and making the white bg of it transparent for those who are stuck with SAI and have no PS.

I suppose I should have posted this question here instead of trying to start a thread yesterday: what is the general opinion on Comic Fury as a hosting site, both from a creator perspective and from a reader perspective?
>>
>>82460013
>Thing is, she might actually be serious because she's made reference sheets and scripts/plot triangles for it already.

Has she made any actual comic strip pages yet? Even just roughs/pencils. That's when you'll know if she's serious.

Her figure work >>82463027 is acceptable, but how's her visual storytelling? She'll need to be able to draw people in various emotional states and actions, as well as backgrounds, scenery and props. Don't forget the lettering and speech balloon/caption placement, the panel layouts, and pacing.

Gathering references, making design sheets and writing scripts is all well and good, but if you're serious about drawing comics, then you should be drawing comics.
>>
>>82464604
Yeah, someone else had pointed it out to me earlier after I posted it. I'll try and fix it up a little later. Thanks
>>
>>82463027
It's a better starting place than most people. She needs to start working on her basic shapes and study principles of anatomy and motion. She's clearly in that stiff emulation phase everyone starts in.

Shame she'll probably make a bunch of online arguments over nothing if she's the kind of person who generalizes whole sites like that.
>>
>>82466689

ComicFury isn't too bad. I feel like it was a better site from 2009~2013, but at some point, it basically became Tumblr lite, in the sense that there's a huge transgender/feminist/PC/whatever crowd that hangs out there, and you had to watch every thing you said on the forums so you didn't step on any toes.

If you don't care about the forums at all, it is a pretty good "generic" comic site to host on.
>>
>>82467111
Oh yeah that's true.

I got perma banned for calling myself a faggot.

Also several people hated my comic.
>>
>>82467346

>>82465781
You should probably have politely declined to host this.
>>
>>82466838
>Has she made any actual comic strip pages yet?
No, not at all, but she says she wants to finish working on the story before actually drawing so idk. Also part of it is she's really busy, she doesn't really get time to draw between her studies but that's not much of an excuse. Sometimes she'll doodle little skits at school and post them on snap chat, but that's purely for fun.
She's terrible at drawing backgrounds and people sitting, but she does watch a ton of how to draws on YouTube to help. I'll give her your advice on that.>>82466978
>principles of anatomy and motion
Literally the only reason she took anatomy class this year, she also started going through my mom's nursing and medical books for reference.
>>
>>82468287
If she jumps straight from studying anatomy to things like panelling and coordinating a page, she's gonna have a hard time. She should practice making pages without worrying about the level of detail sometimes.
>>

>>
>>82469954
I don't use 3D programs really but the most efficient way to use sketchup is to make a bunch of placeholder boxes where things will be, set up the camera and then draw on top of that image.
It's a perspective / composition aid.

>>
>>82469954
... it's the first time I posted this here, but anyway, I don't use it myself, but I fiddled with it and it's pretty easy to model stuff. It might get some time learn how to build a house looks good from scratch, but I think the thing is that you can download assets and import them. Building walls is as intuitive as building walls on the sims, it's just that because you aren't constricted to the tiles of the sims it can be a bit overwhelming at first.

A shift in the story justifies and would be emphasized by the art shift. I've never been able to achieve the same level of nuance with a tablet as with a pencil or pen and I feel like it'd be more... intimate? More organic, elegant. Analog isn't easier but I feel like it looks a bit better for the same level of effort.

this is pretty ugly right now, anon. The thing that works best is the girl's hair, but I feel that for this to work you should use less saturated colors.

First, don't blur the pencil lines like you did on the guy's chin;
Don't blow out the gray out of the pencil lines, they are too sharp right now and are giving a dirty look;
Don't go full black lines, maybe make them more redish brown;
Try to emulate lackadaisy if you can, without the sepia tone over everything;
Don't color black stuff you are going to color later;
Get a pencil brush in case you need to retouch some lines digitally (like the guy's chin);
If it doesn't get much better, just go back to digital ink. That page you posted before was better. You still need to make those brushes less blurry for the background stuff, but still much better overall.
>>
>>82479221
procrastination is like fear
it's pretty fucking important. it keeps you alive. keeps you from blowing all your energy on every little idea you have. the hard part is keeping it under control instead of letting it rule you

You want something so bad you constantly find yourself thinking about it. You dream of it. That's when you know you REALLY want it.

I literally have dreams where I'm writing comics. I think about my comic endeavors all the time, when I'm eating, when I'm at home, when I'm at work. I want it so bad.

I'm trying to keep the colors fairly realistic, I don't actually see how they're especially saturated there, but I appreciate all your recommendations. Here's something with a bit more effort put in, reddish lines and all. I'm going to try it with inks as well to compare, but how does it look as-is?

And Lackadaisy is ideal but a bit extreme. I'm already terrible with my scheduling.

Thank you for the critique!

if you see some art you like, try looking up the artist behind that work on google, or asking in the thread who drew whatever it is you liked.

secondly, the anus points forward, as we're still basically built like any other critter. pulling your legs forward points your anus almost straight up, and unless you're hanging upside down like a bat, that doesn't work very well.. if anything you need to do the opposite and install steps BEHIND the toilet so you can rest on your stomach, and a bar in front to hold with your hands. I know I feel the best when I bend forward as far as I can.

Been writing a new antagonist for my occult detective comic ''Long Fall''. An ex-detective, died in the line of duty, brought back as a zombie and now serves a young witch as her bodyguard/ hitman. He isn't a slave, though, he knows he's under a spell and is fine with it, enjoys it even. He has a free will as long as his main priority is still protecting the witch.

Concerning the art, it always annoys me when I can notice this.

It feels cheap. And I'm sure I'm not the only one. Might be better to try and conceal it with a little extra monkeying around. Like taking a smudge over the final result.

Cmon dude. it's pretty obvious the good lord intended for us to shit standing up. just spread yer legs, lean forward against a tree, and let 'er rip. you have CHEEKS in back for god's sake. you could avoid 75 percent of your wipe if you kept the cheeks between your hole and gravity's pull. Might be a good idea to hold your nutsack with one hand if it's warm and it's hanging low.

Yes, my sister made fun of Jud Winnik. I didn't get the joke though, she had to tell me, it was really stupid in my opinion.

now that I think about it, can you tell me if this is a bad joke? Character F helps M get out of imprisoment. They leave the temple thing but then M tries to get back in and this is what they say:
M: OW what the hell?
F: Demons can’t enter this place
M: But you-
F: It says demons can’t get in, it doesn’t say they can’t get out
(small writing)M: that's such a Winnik explanation
I didn't get the reference but if you do, is it funny? Should I have her cut it out?

if that is something jud winnik does then leave it in
which by the way i'm pretty sure is spelled judd winick. that's important if you're going to reference things.
but yeah if YOU know a reference then it's okay to think others will too

So, I'm super mean. And I'm starting a web comic. It's mostly my writers comic because he does everything but the art. Anyway my question is; Have you liked a comic but started to dislike it because the writer/artist is a dick?

>>
>>82492173
er, no.. i can't imagine hating a comic because i hate the artist. like, if the writer is pushing a bunch of his stupid shit in the comic, or writing about it down in the news section every day so i can't ignore it, then that will taint the fuck out of it
but the artist's leanings are irrelevant. it's hard to imagine how it would somehow show up there.

Writing is a skill that takes time and effort to hone, just like art. Most people get good at one or the other but not both.

My suggestion would be to find someone to collaborate with that you know, that is proven to be at least decent at writing, and that is on the same page as you, creatively speaking.

As a writer myself, I was able to do that with an artist (multiple artists actually, that ended up with real, solid products and didn't die in development), so it should be possible for you too. Good luck~

Taking a break from writing and watching some ''Suits'' and sketching to recharge my batteries.

''Good'' and meaningful dialogue is a pain in the ass to write. What do you people consider ''good'' dialogue? And I use quotation marks, because ''good'' can be very subjective.

I like dialogue that's
>keeping it short
>shows characters' unique voice
>is multi-layered and can have hidden meanings, innuendos etc.
>doesn't force feed, lecture or explain everything
>is sometimes vague, and doesn't always reveal characters true thoughts
>bounces well back and forth
>>
>>82498883
I am all about subtext, ambiguity, density, and stuff that feels right to say out loud. Not sure how well I execute, but that's what I like to see.
>>
>>82498883
Good dialogue is dialogue that advances the story and/or provides meaningful character interaction in a way that the reader can easily understand.
>>
>>82498576
That's not exactly the issue.
I can't write characters who don't all hate each. And this is an issue I've seen other people have issues with which is having a good climax for the first part which can never be outdone by the climax of the finale.
Keeping a balance between dialogue and action is also important but in reality I just want to draw cute porcelain dolls fighting trees that shoot lightning and bats that bomb valleys but that one artist who draws loli porn with old CartonNetwork characters usually falls in the same place and screws up his stories with fight scenes that go on for too long.
>>82498842

>>
>>82498223
try making one with 0 dialogue
>>
>>82500140
I was thinking about doing that of Edward Lear's poems with the poem just being written somewhere on the page or something idunnnnnnnnnn
>>
>>82498223
Try a stream of consciousness, make it up as you go along, dream logic art-house strip. Maintain a loose narrative, with some story logic, but no need for intricate plotting. Follow the same character at all times, no non-sequitur panels. Try and evoke a mood or emotion, rather than strictly telling a story.

Jiro Taniguchi's "The Walking Man" are strips about a man who goes for a walk around his neighbourhood, and the things he sees happening around him.

>>82500140
Dialogue is not the same as writing. See Larry Hama's GI Joe #21 "Silent Interlude": no dialogue or sound effects, but the story still had to be written.
>>
>>82498842
You'd just be illustrating someone else's story. Not a bad thing exactly but it's not a real answer to this issue.

Practicing writing via comics would probably be the best idea for this, IMO. Start with very short stories, experiment, read up and analyze how other comic writing is done.
>>
>>82500474
>You'd just be illustrating someone else's story
Not necessarily true. There are plenty of writers who would be fine being a mere scripter, instead of a true creative force.
>>
>>82500722
Just end this before this turns into a writer vs visual artist thing. Writers have as much input in the story as artist. An artist can tell a story through visual and writers through dialogue, they are both two sides of the same coin. But like other anons say just practice, you see yourself improve overtime.
>>
>>82494370
yeah this is perfect.
>>82494367

I'm not a story-writer. I write ''good'' characters, dialogue and scenes, but complex stories aren't my thing, so I keep things small-scale and character-driven. Also many times I use my favorite writers' works as guide lines, y'know? Writing comes easier when you have references and examples to follow and inspire you. Base your characters on some already existing characters (don't rip off of course, but make the characters generally similar to their inspirations). That how I started out and still do from time to time if I get stuck.

And also if you can collaborate with someone who's more of a writer rather than artist, that'd work too. I'm sure many writers out there are more than willing to let you in on the writing process too. For example, I know what I want to write and draw, but I'm always open for ideas and friendly contribution from others, because I know two heads is better than one (usually).

>>82500140
I wouldn't suggest this. I personally can't stand silence. And when a comic has no dialogue, the focus is on the art, and that means the art and visual storytelling has to be absolutely spot-on. And let's be honest, most of us can't pull shit like that off.
>>
>>82498223
Just.... start I guess. A lot of comics have amazing art with shitty stories and are sucessful

well in terms of the ankles that's valid. if youre going to draw skinny figures with big hands and feet, there's no 'right' way to do the bits where they meet. same goes for big heads and thin necks. you cant properly line the muscles up with the parts of the head

Spanish has the second-largest number of native speakers, but English's huge numbers of second-language speakers gives it nearly as many total speakers as Mandarin Chinese.

Mandarin, English, Hindustani, Spanish.

Tell her it's fine to show her character it doesn't even have to be here. To be honest a few close friends even you anon can help her with the design process.

pic related is actually me trying to work out a emotional board for characters in this comic. The main reason i post stuff here is for constructive input (but to be honest it's mostly " Oh that look good" input) . The biggest critic is yourself.

In this picture there are a lot of things wrong even to me the emotions are not that exaggerated and it doesn't feel that well on. they are emotion but i will go back and redo them over and over again till it feels as natural to do them as smiling on my own face.

And just have FUN.

>so it's not like you're gonna limit your audience much by writing in Spanish.

you are actually limiting your audience a lot because there's a huge number of spanish native speakers who can speak english but not vice versa.

Oh, you're doing something terrible. Great.

More edgy superhero shit.

Wonderful.
>>
>>82504394

this'll work thanks.

>>82504772

I'm not being edgy for the sake of being edgy though, this is the begin of a case for a reporter who has to write an article on the heroes suicide, the whole thing seems fishy, that is why she'll later try to figure out why he killed himself. I just wanted to know if people are ok with the panel layout, as I'm a beginner in doing comics.

There's asshole on other parts of the internet too. Harden up or never show anyone your comic. Those are your options.

no, it's shit. she's never going to make it.
>>

top kek, I screen capped this and sent it to her
>>
>>82505028
i could see this working okay. it's a workable cartoon style for sure. There's room for gestures, the limbs are long enough to move around and hold poses... might wanna broaden the dude's shoulders a bit though. and having a neck thicker than your arms isn't so good, so narrow those up. otherwise yeah this'll do the job.
>>
>>82505150
i mean, it's a smiley face in a hoodie.. so i don't really think..

Do the characters have designs beyond these basic body sketches?

She's 16, so she has lots of time to improve. She's already better than Dewd who is 2 years older than her so that's something.

That drawing is awful.
It's like my art when I was 13 with the faces when I was 15.
She's definitely trying though. I think the only thing that would solidify this art would be age and less practice.
>>
>>82506049

I wouldn't say it is awful. The proportions are all over the place, but there's some decent "animation" and attitude to the pose and linework.

You can draw a super awesome, realistic person, but it'll still look like shit if it is stiff and unrealistic as fuck. That pic has character at least, but bits of the anatomy just need honing down.
>>
>>82506144
I never learned to draw stiff and I'm glad his sister doesn't (at least too much) either.
This hinders my ability to draw trees though.
>>
>>82506144
What you're saynig is there's definite artistic talent there, it just needs work and practice to really shine.
>>
>>82505843
She's got there full designs finalized but she doesn't want me to post them
>>82506049
>>82506144
Alright, thanks I'll let her know
>>82506178
That's why she can't do full cartoon styles, she hates "shape-y" things and art, she's horrible at it.
>>
Hey guys my autistic 10 year old sister with no arms wants me to make dozens of posts about his webcomic for her, is that cool?
>>
>>82505044
Being beaten down builds character, just do it
>>
>>82506601
I don't understand what your problem with me is, I'm just a guy trying to help his sister out because she has no access to criticizers. That, and I have no dreams of my own so I live through others' ;_;
>>
>>82505028
Depending on how she adds hair to her heads, she might want to make the faces slightly smaller in comparison to the heads - Dividing the face into thirds is all well and good, but I find it's usually an improvement and more appealing when you add a bit of space between the hairline and the top of the skull.

Has she tried treating the shoulder like a ball, rather than just having the torso widen at the top? I think that would improve the ease of posing the characters naturally.

Guy's arms seem really long compared to the height of his crotch.

I don't know if she's making the legs super long intentionally or just by following the old "half of the character's height" rule, but in my experience people prefer it for big-head styles if you match the length of the legs with the length of the torso in a 4:3 legs:torso ratio (for really superdeformed stuff, it can get to 1:1), instead.
>>
>when you scrolling here and you want to sex these people characters

>no access to criticizers
There's deviantart, tumblr, and countless other art sites.
>>
>>82506711
no prob dude, you're just posting a lot, and it's slightly unusual. not doing anything wrong, just bound to grab attentch
>>
>>82506328
If she's ever willing to show the designs, I'll draw some fan art of them if they aren't terrible. It would be nice to get a better sense of the art style and how they would actually function in a comic.
>>
>>82506711
>my sister

same famalam
I have 10 folders now of different short oneshots and all are just failed attempts going nowhere. What I have only done are 3 short stuff, but those are only things that suddenly struck my mind while I was doing non-comic IRL things. I know I can't continue to rely on random ideas to just pop up whenever, but making stories is tough. My friends who are sampling my stuff are even saying things like
>"I feel like you're just getting these from your personal experiences"
>"you know, I can feel a lil bit of you in these characters"
>"you really like big boobs, don't you?"
>>

So I'm doing a comic. It's not a serious story or anything, it's just a light comic called Juneau, its about a short 'thicc' girl (named Juneau, go figure) running around punching gods in the face. This is my first comic so I'm trying to do my best here and learn everything I need to to make this better. Im studying on the side but yeah. Expect this within a month. I'd be glad for people to shit on it.
