Stop straying from the winning formula the original had and don't use Tween animation.
>>
>>82441467
the winning formula the original had was tons of pop culture references

we all know that you don't want tons of pop culture references
>>
>>82440920
Turn it into an anthology series where different artists do whatever they want with the established characters. The only thing that should be consistent is the art style, and even then, it should go off-model constantly.
>>
STOP trying to emulate the 40s humor and slapstick.

The source is dead, slapstick by itself is DEAD, and forcing the Looney Tunes characters to repeat the same old jokes again and again is what killing them.

The Looney Tunes needs a revival in spirit. Kids are no longer interested in the characters are no longer, and why should they be? They're not cool, they're not relatable and they're not funny.

WB needs to sit down and plan some shit, what do they want Looney Tunes to be in a few years, what do they want it to be in twenty years? Are they gonna go back and make movie shorts? Is it going to be a series like Scooby Doo and just get a million cartoons? Will any of the proposed movies ever actually happen.

When they decide some of that, then they need to get to the hard part and start remodeling.

If Warner Bros were smart, they'd cut some of the extremely bloated cast AND they ought to reevaluate how much they push some characters. Bugs Bunny is over exposed. So is Daffy Duck. They need to reign in how much they use certain characters so the remaining ensemble can be important.

The original Loony Tunes had pop culture references?
>>
>>82440920
By leaving it alone
>>
>>82442070
Tuns, especially about WWII.
>>82441827
They did that with The Looney Tunes Show and almost everyone hated it.
>>
Daffy Duck movie about him trying to get rich or famous and failing
Taz movie about a butch hunters trying to catch Taz and fucking each other over to get him.
>>
>>82442070
A duh.

Even Bugs eating his carrots is a reference to a movie of the era.

Which popularized the myth that carrots are part of a normal rabbits diet.
>>
>>82441827
The original cartoon is timeless and will ALWAYS be funny. Remakes and reboots of something timeless will ALWAYS not be funny.

In fact, slapstick is universal. It's at the core of humor. Looney Tunes was like an injection of funny straight into your soul.
>>
>>82442105
Looney Tunes Show was actually pretty popular.

Funny how the second season, which tried to be more like the classic slapstick shorts and original designs, was less popular.

Still that show was not great.
>>
>>82440920
You don't

They made their thing, , they explored all possibilities, they made thousand's of cartoons. and they succeed.

Now they have to rest

>>
>>82441505
Nothing wrong with pop culture references, they just have to be well-chosen. Things that will stand the test of time, or already have to some extent. As in, something other than memes that are already passé.
>>
>>82442154
Straight slapstick is a dead as vaudeville, mate.

>Peter Lorre
>WWII
>Albert And Costello
>Fibber McGee And Molly
>Other radio shows from that era.
>Movies from that era.
>Other celebrities from that era.

Not timeless at all.
>>
>>82442270
>Albert And Costello

Abbot and Costello are timeless.
>>
Revive the reruns. Put the old shorts back in heavy rotation on CN, TBS, TNT, and put oddball stuff on Saturday mornings on TCM. Get the public, especially kids, familiar with Looney Tunes again. Then start cycling in new ones made by top writers and animators. This will take 5 - 10 years.
>>
>>82442179
Yea, to hate on, I remember Thad K saying.

>TMS knew what they were doing when Yeson (Duck Dodgers) was just a embarrassment all around but this one takes the cake on how awful it is.
>>
>>82442194
>Things that will stand the test of time
That's pretentious bullshit.

Cartoons are made for the now. Artists are not worried about what somebody fifty years from now will think, only if the current audience will find it funny.

If you watch old Looney Tunes cartoons you'll see a hundred obscure references that you won't get.
Most people don't know the "Dover Boys" are based on the Rover Boys. Most people don't know M.E Literally is a parody of a famous comedian from that time.

I'm not sure what point you're trying to make anymore.
>>
>>82442070
It was full of them

Even some of their characters, like Foghorn Leghorn, are based off of pop culture figures at the time (look up Senator Claghorn or Buck Rodgers of the 25th Century)

Also, anyone else think Wabbit's shit?
>>
>>82443486
Wabbit is objectively trash.
>>
>>82442346
Don't be a retard, there's a big difference between lightly parodying contemporary culture and making it the basis of your humor, which is the mistake that gets made so much nowadays. Looney Toons was funny to me when I was three years old despite missing all of the background references. And when an entire episode was focused on parodying a particular work, it was something like Wagner, not Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
>>
Revive the looney tune show. that shit was amazing.

I mean....Granny's backstory make me feel like I was watching an old DC animated series cartoon.
>>
>>82440920
Do we really need to constantly revisit the Looney Tunes characters over and over again until it is cheapened beyond repair?

Why not just leave the classics alone and focus on something new from Warner? They at least tried that in the early-midish 90's.

Animaniacs, Freakazoid, etc were at least a good attempt.
>>
>>82440920
The original worked because it had genius artists creating the greatest short films of their generation in terms of innovation, humor, scope, and artistry.
I don't think there's any way to match that.
>>
>>82440920
Leave it dead.

>>
>>82448059
Outside of being creatively bankrupt at the moment, it really isn't a bad idea for WB to bring them back, considering Disney did the exact thing with Mickey Mouse and it was a massive success. They just need the talent to make them work again.
>>
>>82442188
>>82441377
Or just bring back Duck Dodgers

Just to make new short along with Lola bunny in it.

The franchise's high point was in the 40's
>>
>>82454134
>not also liking the 50s shorts
Nigger you're dissing Duck Dodgers
>>
>>82440920
focus entirely on the humor, the only thing any old 'toons' had going for them before action and serious drama was invented
>>
>>82442070
yeah
the difference is, references back then were timeless. people still reference that shit now. nobody's ever going to reference anything after 1998 or so

Joe Alaskey (the guy who played Daffy and Marvin on that show) passed away two months ago
