Dave should have perma-died because his...time had come, and it would have carried some weight. I liked it when he died guarding Jade in Game Over, that would have been fine. John and LE should have had a rematch because of the first beatdown. Judgment Day should have been used somewhere.

The list just goes on. I wish the game had been announced after the comic. Hussie would still have had some interest in finishing the comic right, story would probably still have an odd ending but at least there would have been more resolution beforehand for each character, no wacky tobaccy sprite shit thrown in for too many pages because because. Then the people would more likely agree that it was a fine ending that can always be discussed, but with more concrete answers too. Then hype would have been through the roof even higher for the game when it got announced, and being as it'd have been announced later, TOG would already be in the middle of their own thing, and couldn't swindle him over, and he could have found someone else or made the thing himself with his own studio from the get-go.

I feel like we're all living in the doomed timeline, and some other lucky ducks out there got the good end in some other universe.

It was just a another web-joke (google translate) to fill out the Beforus cast, but it also allowed the Alternian Damara to be an Asian schoolgirl for the whole doc scratch bit because reasons. Wait, actually I think that came first, so it probably informed the decision.

As a side note, fuck the Beforus cast. Homestuck spent far too long just introducing characters simply because the horoscope thing had made a fuckhuge google spreadsheet of potential characters that never actually needed to be introduced. Bluh! Even though I do like some of them.

I honestly and sincerely wonder if this was literally Hussie being antagonistic towards us as readers because he thought it was funny to do so or something; to tease us with this relationship for a couple of years and then have it go nowhere after giving us every reason to hope and root for it. Looking back on it, it feels like he wanted us to feel a sense of disappointment that it never materialized because the strength of that disappointment would constitute a form of pathos, but that doesn't necessarily make for a satisfying reading experience.

I think, initially at least, Rose was bothered by Jade's access to all that Prospit knowledge. It threw her off, because Rose likes being one step ahead of everyone, which I thought was pretty good characterization on Hussie's part. Just look at the events of Collide and Act 7. The last five trolls were Karkat, Terezi, Kanaya, Gamzee and Equius.

Karkat was given literally nothing of consequence to do but flail about ineffectually and defeat one member of the Felt who Jake could plainly have taken as an afterthought.

Terezi was sort of there on-hand for the fight with the two Jacks, but all the important stuff that happened there was with Dave & Dirk.

Kanaya similarly mostly just stood around during the fight with the Condesce.

Gamzee was in a fridge.

Equius floated around looking impressed as Dad Crocker did all the important brawling.

Do you ever get the sense that Hussie never WANTED the trolls to be important? Like, he always intended the comic to be about the human kids and just sort of humoured the involvement of various troll characters to throw a bone to the fans who liked them?
