Kit is gonna run to the lab and Poppy has to chase her down. By the time Poppy reaches her she will either be just outside the door of the lab or would of locked herself inside in which case Poppy would tear the door open. Que scene of Poppy being out of breath, bringing up the beginning of the comic.

Poppy will talk to her and ask her what's wrong and then Kit will explode and rant about her father's cure, her stepmother, her feeling insecure about her position as Queen and her disappointment that her cause of helping opossums isn't going so well with her own father even thinking opossums are like pets instead of actual people. Poppy will then tell her what she thinks of Kit and all the good she's done just to herself (saved her life with medicine, stepmom is a bitch, she's able to live in the Fenneclands rather comfortably, etc).

Here, take a look at this: There's two heart beats, and the picture makes it look like the normal state of things is that only one heart is beating at a time. This panel marks the point at which the opossum's heart started beating again and the king's shut down once more (to remove his own magical field from the equation and prevent it from feeding the tumor).

I suspect they simply sedate the king and switch over to his heart powering both bodies during transit, probably waiting through the period it takes for the null field to die away. The "withdrawal" they mention is possibly the withdrawal of null-field energy in their combined vascular systems - the king was having a delayed reaction to that, which possibly flashed back through the link and knocked the opossum out - heck, we saw how Poppy's heart started beating ultra-loud and then conked out when she was absorbing dragon magic, the opossum in the bubble may have been put into arrest by the king's heart starting up and setting off a surge of high-level magic from the tumor. His "withdrawal" may also have been withdrawal of the sedative.

IIRC Morbi said the brain plays a part in the null field too, so the opossum may be braindead or even acephalic.

Probably more than a few seconds, I should think, as they'd need to unhook the previous one and ship him/her out of the magical zone. Unless they just let the old opossum fall to the ground, which while in line with how opossums are treated also seems wasteful when they're apparently quite rare and potentially hazardous. Not to mention that since it's a portal the opossum would probably get pushed through a wall or something as it ran up against the portal field instead.

So why go through all that or risk having an accident while transporting a new opossum at high speed when you can simply "pause" your blood-filter and restart it on arrival?

But the addendum makes me think of something: We know gamba can teleport, we've seen everyone's favourite dour-faced swordspossum do it. The post also says they can produce the same antimagic signal, and that both signals can be created at varying levels. We already know that they have some kind of drugs to boost the magical signal (booster tabs) - Friedrich uses them in combat. What if they also have drugs to boost/dampen the antimagic signal? So they tilt the gamba one way, teleport, then tilt it back the other way, ready to be used as a blood filter.

Or even better, what if they've developed a similar drug to dampen the antimagic signal in standard opossums and that's how they get one through a teleport/wormhole? That could be an excellent plot point - it's been developed entirely for the king's own use and kept secret, but opossums could benefit from it greatly as it would potentially enable them to receive magical healing treatments and use magical items, though without the magical signal generator brain component they could still never use magic themselves.

That sheep will later start the revolution.

With how large the canine empire is I wouldn't be surprised if the goats surrendered after maybe a few months to a year. They fight at first because it's their home but they soon realize that Renard has the backing of the largest empire on Flora and resisting the inevitable is a poor move so they surrender and try to make things as smooth as possible for the kingdom's inhabitants. Renard then tries to appease the kingdom's inhabitants as much as he can (Vix's Grand Flora allows fruit babies to thrive, Guards are mostly goats/sheep, allows them to honor past rulers, etc) so while the Darling clan rules the kingdom and it's surronding areas, the inhabitants won't attempt a large scale revolt anytime soon (aside from there being groups like the Steel Wool and the various assassins who target Vix).

For a kingdom that was taken over by force, most people seem to be just fine with the Darlings with Vix being especially popular.
