I can see why you'd say that since he kind of does seem like Batman on a surface level but he's not really once you read more stories featuring him.

He's only a batman rip-off on surface level. When you actually get into his stories, the differences become clear.

A good Moon Knight story reads very differently to a good Batman story.

If you're looking for a recommendation, read the Warren Ellis run from Marvel NOW. It's an anthology series that boils Moon Knight down to his very core characteristics.

Avoid the Bendis run like the plague.

Do yourself a favour and pick up the Epic Collections featuring Moon Knight, I'm sure they've got all the essential classic stuff in since I don't believe they've published any of them in trades apart from the modern stuff.

All volumes except for the Bendis one and Fist of Khonshu are good. He's one of my all time favorite comic book characters and I cannot recommend him strongly enough.
Even his old stuff holds up because it was able to be written more maturely due to only being sold in comic book stores. Stuff like Stain Glass Scarlet and the arc with his brother are amazing. Go read him now!

my favourite part of Moon Knight is that it is always a mystery as to whether the god he serves is real or his schizophrenia. Even when he sees the god there are parts in it that make you question it it's real. I think Lemire is pushing this angle too, which he can do good at.
