I think it would make a great kid show and well made.
>>
I do agree with what was said in the old threads. If the purpose is to be educational, drop the cute puns and just use their real names and places. If you make Thomas Jefferson a dog, but still call him Thomas Jefferson, it allows you to have your cute show while making it easier for kids to learn. As it stands, some of the pun names are weak and puns generally confuse kids anyway.

>>
>>82376628
>massacred
yeah, that's why our country is called the Colony of British Columbia
>the shitty stuff we did to the natives
They did shitty stuff to the colonizers too. The thing that most people ignore about the Native Americans is that there were many different kinds of them. So yes, at the first Thanksgiving some Natives and some Pilgrims got along, but there were also some tribes who didn't give a fuck about making friends with white people. Since all Native Americans look the same the Pilgrims thought they were being betrayed, and since all white people look the same, the Natives thought they were being betrayed.

Apparently the barbs don't cause pain, female cats are just some loud fuckers. In an experiment a scientist stimulated a female cat in heat and she would yell even with a completely smooth glass cylinder.
>>
>>82377975
The barbs cause ovulation in female cats.
>>
>>82378001
They are not needed.

>Ovulation can be induced in estrual queens physically or, more reliably, hormonally to produce a luteal phase (diestrus or metestrus) of ~45 days. Physical methods include mating with a vasectomized tom (very effective) or inserting a sterile swab or glass rod into the vagina. The latter should be performed repeatedly for best results. Hormonal methods include administration of human chorionic gonadotropin at 500 IU/cat or GnRH at 25 µg/cat.

One hypothesis is that they serve to scrap semen from other males increasing the chance of his own sperm. Sort of like why human penis is shaped like it is.

>Hand-drawn educational shorts by a number of industry veterans. Sold so poorly they put it up for free.
This seems to be a common thing for a lot of 2D veterans right now. They have immense amounts of talent but then end up working on things like Penn Zero or Pups of Liberty where the work fails compared to 20-something year olds creating lightning-in-a-bottle shows.

It feels kinda bad, I don't know why. I wish these artists who have been in the industry so long and have tons of talent would get the work they deserve. I guess all we can do is look forward to Klaus and that studio's future projects.

>>82376852
Yeah what happened with the natives and colonists is way more complicated than, "Natives are peace loving nature children, colonists are satan." but not a lot of people bother to go deeper than the stuff they learn as kids.

Like I'm not saying that what went down wasn't bad by any means but that I think its almost insulting to the native americans to reduce their role in history to hapless, doomed, child-like victims. They deserve the full story told, the good and the bad, and its a shame we won't know all of it because a lot of NA native american civilizations kept records on wood, or orally.
>>
>>82376516
That was funny, but Jefferson's affair with Sally happened after his wife's death.
>>
>>82381765
Well a big part of the independence movement was saying that Americans had become, by their generations of separation from Europe, a new race deserving a new nation to represent them because nationalism was in its birthing pains at the time.

So cats becoming dogs makes sense in a weird sort of way, but I agree that between the pun names and the animal metaphor things get a bit muddied.

>>
>>82406600
3d is faster
>>
>>82418655
Once you have the digital infrastructure, sure. Problem is, most companies have to start from scratch with each new movie. Technology advanced and the tools they had before get old. Zootopia had to develop their own fur software from scratch and that slowed down production significantly. If it were a 2D movie, they could have just drawn the fur on the characters and sped production along.
>>
>>82419427
I don't think it make much sense comparing the two given a big budget 3D movie is going to cost at least as much as a 2D in the end, the problem being that the small protects that used to be the average animators' bread and butter are gone.
>>
>>82407069
>>82410199
>>82417786
3D costs a fuckton more than 2D. 3D is only more profitable on the long run because you can reuse the assets so it's actually more convenient for series and even then it depends (if you have a different setting for every episode/installment you'll need to make more assets so it's better to use 2D in those cases).

2D animation has already been perfected so the only reason it's expensive at all is the lack of interest.

>>82425984
Most of the money Dick Williams made from his commercial work did end up going into the production of The Thief, although yeah I was talking about Neil Boyle and his film The Last Belle. A lot of contemporary 2D animators worth their salt now mostly work on ads, music videos or other promo work.

The metaphor of Americans as Dogs and the British as Cats doesn't make much sense since the colonists still considered themselves British and even after the war still considered themselves Anglos.

It'd make more sense for the German Hessians to be cats since they're a foreign group.

Of course, making the Germans cats moves it more into Maus territory.
>>
>>82359427
That Fuchur did not complete his work.
>>
>>82431360
This is very true. In fact, 3D animation tends to cost more if you want it to actually look good, because you have to build all the models, environments, software, etc. Things that could have been covered in about a dozen drawings have to be painstakingly recreated in 3D for a cg movie. Its even worse when you have to consider making a bunch of unique characters and such.

Traditional animation is more often than not cheaper than 3D. The main difference is that most executives began to believe that 2D won't sell in the early 2000s , and they refuse to bring it back in any substantial way. This is mostly in part to Pixar making masterpiece after masterpiece while all of Disney's attempts at 2D films became more and more creatively bankrupt. That stark contrast is what started giving 2D a bad name in the industry.

At this point, even if they did bring it back, 3D has become such a major standard that 2D won't sell anymore unless it can REALLY wow audiences. It has become a self-fulfilling prophecy.

The only real way 2D animation could sell again is if they pushed the boundaries even further. If Disney could replicate the look of Klaus' trailer, I could see 2D making a comeback then.

https://vimeo.com/126287950 Here is said trailer.
>>
>>82432873
It says that's 3D/CG underneath the video though. It does look like 2D and I'm pretty sure that the guy is.
2D still can improve a lot. It's just that the big studios aren't pushing it. Stuff like this needs to be recognized.
>>
>>82433420
Nah, it's all 2D. Even the backgrounds. However computer filtering is used to get that sweet ass lighting effect and help push that painted look.
>>
>>82433537
There's a lot that can be done to 2D to make it look really stunning. Not even Disney understands this. Their last 2 2D movies looked the same as they always have. They don't think they should increase that technology but others are starting to do it.
>>
>>82432744
But he did, didn't he? I followed that thread very closely.
>>
>>82406600
It's a vicious cycle
>2D loses favor
>3D becomes more popular
>less people trained to work in 2D
>more people trained to work in 3D
>3D artists are easier to hire
>2D artists are harder to hire
>more 3D movies get made
>2D loses favor
>less people trained to work in 2D
>more people trained to work in 3D
And so on.

The only selling factor of 2D in this day and age is novelty, and that's not worth the risk and effort of assembling a team that can actually make something.

>>
>>82406600
It's the public perception. For some reason, the public has allowed itself to view 3D animation as an all-ages kind of thing. The amount of adults who are openly enthousiastic about things like Frozen is ridiculous. I used to visit 9Gag during the time it was popular, and it was filled to the brim with this stuff. The same goes for WALL-E, Up, etc. etc.

I guess many of the people who turned out to be influential in the market (i.e., our generation) grew up watching nearly exclusively sappy Disney variations of fairy tales, with song and dance numbers, aimed squarely at children with very little "edgy" humour for adults. Then came the 3D movies aimed at all ages. And of course it's all mostly humour, with a rather minimal focus on heavier themes, which just makes it more convincing that it's for adults, paradoxically.

They named in that because this is for little kids who won't think of something like that.

I mean it is a children's cartoon but didn't they have slaves in that liberty kids cartoon
>>
>>82460573
>>82456680
I'm genuinely surprised about the lack of raceplay white man on black woman porn there is in the world given that is often how it actually happened in the past. I would think white slave masters ravishing black slave women would be a big enough seller.
>>
>>82462468
Because that's something that will make people very uncomfortable even in porn.
>>
>>82462533
Dude, raceplay is a big seller. I'm surprised you've never heard of Blacked. It's all the rage on /tv/.
And by "all the rage" I mean one anon spams it every night.
>>
>>82462576
>Bleached.com isn't a thing
There is no justice in this world.

I want to see dark skinned native women getting plowed by superior white dicks is all. It's porn AND a history lesson!
>>
>>82462576
That's just big black dicks going into girls which is a popular thing for some reason. Race doesn't actually play into it that much and especially not in that way.
>>
>>82462701
>That's just big black dicks going into girls which is a popular thing for some reason.
>for some reason
It's called raceplay. And now you understand.
>>
>>82462729
There's nothing slavey about it though.
>>
>>82462770
That doesn't matter. Raceplay isn't necessarily about slavery. Raceplay is any interracial sexual act where the difference in race isn't simply incidental, usually they play on stereotypes or try to make situation feel wrong in the kinky way.
>>
>>82462863
I don't see that in the white on black stuff I see. Blacked is always about some black boss calling his employee over to fuck or something like that.
>>
>>82462952
An entire website dedicated to black men fucking white women isn't simply incidental.
>>
>>82462986
Yeah but it's not slavery type stuff. That's the kind of stuff that makes people uncomfortable.
>>
>>82463012
>Yeah but it's not slavery type stuff.
Dude, I just explained this to you. Raceplay isn't necessarily about slavery, like, at all. Why would you even think that?

An base black man sullying a pure white woman, cheating on her black boyfriend and being filled with the black man's superior seed... that is OBVIOUSLY raceplay.
>>
>>82463095
I'm talking about the slave play you were talking about initially and how that's too weird for most people.
>>
>>82359427

This project was certainly a refreshing watch from an animation point of view. When you watch too many animated television projects (CN/Nick/Disney) with limited animation, you kinda get the WOW effect when you see this one pop out from nowhere.

Any info about the budget? The work to me looked like it was "almost" there budget wise, compared with a production of an animated feature length 2D feature (a la Winnie the Pooh from 2011).
>>
>>82471589
At some point, art schools will show a digitally animated short on the history of traditional animation.
If they aren't doing this already.

depends on how you qualify 'shot first' historically they did shoot first. If we're talking specifically with firearms.

but the crowd were throwing cobblestones and oystershells at them and it was mid winter so theyw ere being pelted by pretty dangerous shit so speaking bluntly; the crowd had it coming.

I believe in the American court system the British soldiers were ruled not guilty, most notably because someone in the mob testified that someone BEHIND the soldiers fired a gun first.

At least that is what I remember from the John Adams biography series.

The other downside to this is (except the puns) the lack of QC in the audio department. That problem is especially noticeable in Tea-Bone episode, where you hear their voices clipping. (aarghh). Was wondering if the screw up came during audio mixing, or worse - it was recorded that way originally.

But, luckily the good outweighs the bad in this one, kudos to the animators for doing their best. Especially in animating the characters mouth and body movements faithfully to the vocal performances of (amateur) VA.
>>
>>82474132
It doesn't seem to have good production values. The animation is as good as it is simply because the animators are hypercompetent.
