Cap was an ass the whole movie, Tony snapped in the end and went full autism mode

bretty gud
>>
>>82348196
Cap was wrong.

There, I said it.

Cap lost his trust in people. He wasn't even willing to make an effort to work within the system. Yes, Ross is an asshole, but he was willing to give the Avengers a chance, to have them take lead. Had Cap registered, he would have been able to bring Bucky in safely, and be able to convince everyone Bucky was framed from the get-go.
But, also, he was the one who decided to actually fight. Tony kept trying to reason with him, go easy on him while trying to give him a chance to comply and stand down. Cap went to war.

But mostly, I directly blame Cap for not trusting Tony in Siberia. Tony would never kill Bucky. That's quite simply a fact. But when you've just broken up with the love of your life, your best friend was almost killed in front of your eyes, and is now permanently invalid, and then you get to hear the person who was the cause for all the shit that has happened in the last few days was also the one who killed your parents, and is standing right next to you, then yes, it's not human not to react emotionally and lash out. That was an emotional reaction. It's not a morally or rationally good reaction, but any other reaction than the kind of emotional reaction that Tony displayed would have been cold and inhuman. But Tony would never kill Bucky, not like that, not in cold blood. Cap should have known that. Yes, Bucky would have ended up with a few cuts and bruises, but Cap should have trusted Tony not to kill Bucky. But Cap didn't. He didn't trust Tony to ultimately make the right call. He doesn't trust anyone to make the right call, except for himself, which he almost literally says at the start of the movie.

So, yes, Cap was wrong.

At least he had enough selfawareness to recognize that he no longer has trust in the people he claims to represent, which is why he left the symbol of that trust, the shield, behind for Tony.

Initial conflict is pretty good, and makes sense. Pretty much a matter of perspective. Then Stark suddenly gets emotionally triggered in the final moments, which also makes sense.
>>
>>82348264
Yeah. My only complaint was too much cuts. I mean you clearly can see from the B-Roll footage that fights are real and it's pretty wire-work heavy. Maybe it was there to create tension like Doug Liman, I dunno. You still could follow what was happening though.

One of the best MCU movies to date. Easily the best Avenger movie.

The action scenes were pretty good, and the fight scenes were top fucking notch. I have high hopes that they can keep this up with the future installments, but I'll probably be disappointed. Dialogue was better than expected, but that's not really saying much. Good enough though. And some of the quips were actually funny, and this is coming from someone that usually hates them. The Tony and Peter scene was bretty good. Most of the Spider-Man stuff was done really well, considering that it was probably added very last minute. The pacing and some of the scene transitions were really weird though. Felt like it was all over the place. I think a lot of this is due to introducing Black Panther and Spider-Man to the MCU in the same movie, and even more so because of the last minute addition of Spider-Man. I feel kinda disgusted by saying this, but this movie should either have been longer or had two parts.

Fuck yeah:

Ants was fucking useless, be honest with yourself and stop buying into the memes, he didn't hit a single person while giant and his small form wouldn't be enough to carry him that high. Maybe when he gets more experience with it he can become that powerful but at the moment he's pretty bottom tier, which makes sense and suits his character, he's a distraction, not a threat.

Panther was conclusively below both Cap and Hydra!Bucky and he was absolutely monstrously below Iron Man, there's no excuse for being that high even if you might try to argue that he could beat the afore mentioned two.

The actual power tiers are probably closer to:

Vision
Wanda
Thor
Hulk

Power gap

Tony
Rhodes
ANTS

Power gap

Cap
Spidey
Panther
Bucky

power gap
Hawkeye

After watching Age of Ultron before Civil War

It made me realize that the Russos treat the characters as actual real people, where as Whedon never took the characers seriously and had them constantly poking fun at themselves.

It's really refreshing to see them taking seriously and not just being like "HEY WE'RE ACTUALLY ALL COMIC BOOK CHARACTERS, AREN'T WE SILLY!!"

>>82348644
The suit was already damaged and Tony was confined in close quarters and also didn't really want to fuck Cap's shit up until the very end by which time he'd already lost most functionality.

An actual Iron Man suit could destroy Cap if Tony wanted it to, think of all the times Tony aimed his lasers or repulsors away from Cap to try to zone him rather than go for a kill. Think of all the times Tony downed cap then turned around to try to finish Bucky.

in a proper 1v1 Cap would never have gotten as far as he did in that fight, it basically relied on it being a purely physical cage match, and yes, in those specific circumstances, Cap>Iron Man.
>>
>>82348644

>>
Can we take a moment to appreciate how based Bucky was in this movie? The dude was a total badass with that metal arm, even more so than in Winter Soldier since we see him fighting alongside Cap.

>>82348704
Pretty sure it's more durable than Tony's. It looks tougher at least.
>>
>>82348666

Spiderman should be higher, think he could take Iron Man and War machine. Not sure about Antman but probably.
>>
>>82348704
It depends on the criteria. I imagine Rhodey values protection over pure speed so he might ask Tony to make his bulkier, more durable, but end up with a slower less custom tuned suit.

Also, guns, lots of them.
>>
>>82348706
>in the air
>momentum

anon that's not how physics work.

Spidey briefly contains cap while cap is in a supremely awkward position to apply his full strength too but when he turns around it's clear that they're of a similar strength level.

Cap holding that Helicopter down was about as good as Spidey catching that car or the Jet bridge imo
>>
>>82348677
I found it cute. This kid behind me shouted "Go Cap!" when Cap threw his shield at Spidey's web, but then his dad/mum shhh'd him.

That's how it works in comic book land, the same with Black Widow using her momentum in WS to take down mooks.

Spidey fucking held up a goddamn truck in this movie when it fell on him, Cap has never been shown to have that kind of strength. Also whereas Cap could only match for match Bucky's metal arm, Spidey easily caught and stopped it with zero effort.

no he didn't, he caught a car that was coming towards him and then released it to fall to the ground pretty fast. It's a good feat but it wasn't significantly better than Cap's helicopter one.

Also you have to keep in mind the difference between Bucky and the Winter Soldier, they're not the same, Cap fought the Winter Soldier and Spidey fought bucky, there's a significant difference, just between this because the movie makes sure to tell you before this that Bucky holds back with his arm and the Winter Soldier doesn't.

I wasn't entirely satisfied with the fight scenes, there was clearly a lot of work put into the choreography but I really detested how they were shot and edited. A lot of it was hard to follow which is a shame since you can catch glimpses of good choreography in there. Didn't really enjoy the excessive quips in the airport fight either. As far as comedic scenes go, seeing Falcon and Bucky's approval after Cap kisses Sharon was gold.

Also, is Zemo supposed to be a Hydra agent in the movie? So far he was just shown as a Sokovian soldier?
>>
Saw the movie yesterday, pleasantly surprised by pretty much everything. Simultaneously made me excited for both Black Panther and Spiderman going forward. Also, might be sacreligious to say here, but I hadn't seen Ant-Man before this movie, so this was my intro to him and I gotta say: Ants is fantastic. Same. It felt really off when they were quipping in Sokovia when people were dying all around them. The airport didn't have any citizens, so there was no chance of innocents accidentally dying. The quipping felt more natural.

>Iron-Man that low, when he fought on par with Captain whilst fighting and wrecking Winter Soldier at the same time

You're objectively wrong.
>>
>>82349128
Not really, since no one who matters has been killed off. You could argue Coulson, but as loved as he was he still wasn't a major player. Same with Quickslav.

Death won't become cheap until we start seeing multiple big name heroes killed off.
>>
>>82349084
>Also, is Zemo supposed to be a Hydra agent in the movie? So far he was just shown as a Sokovian soldier?
His very first scene is him casually disposing of a Hydra agent, and he works solo for almost the entire movie. So I don't think so - his stated background when Tony searches him is a colonel in the Sokovian special forces.

BUT I think they could actually completely go with the Helmut Zemo, son of Heinrich Zemo the Hydra Commander here. Reasoning:
>Sokovia had an entire Hydra army encamped in it, commanded by Baron von Strucker
>Helmut's father lived in the countryside of Sokovia, but everything else about him is left blank. Could be a farmer, could be a Baron.
>Helmut's ability to decode the Hydra files when nobody else could
>Helmut's comment on Sokovia being a failed state long before the Avengers arrived
>Helmut's jab at Cap's blue eyes would make a lot of sense if he had a Nazi upbringing

Beyond his performance I was impressed with how open they left Zemo as a character. They can go so many ways with him from this movie, but even if they don't and it stops here it's still a great villain performance.

Guys, i watched it yesterday and thought it was just OK, of course Spider-man and Black Panther were awesome on it, but after the Airport fight scene the movie just gets OK, i lost my hype when Spidey went out.

The 98% on rotten tomatoes really made me more hyped than i should.

After the airport scene, I knew the guys were going to be friends again and i just didn't care if they were fighting or not. And vision shooting Sam and hitting War Machine was such bullshit, i mean, if he almost killed war machine, what would happen with Sam???

Winter Soldier is still the best marvel movie, CW is just good because there are more characters we know on it, but it is not as good as it should.

AND I CANNOT STOP TO COMPARE, but BvS was full of ups and downs but when you sum up the movie turned OK, CW is just a straight line with a huge peak during spider-man scenes which summed up also turns out a bit above "just OK".

How will the Avengers unite before Infinity War? Or will the unification just be hamfistedly shoehorned into the beginning of the film? The Avengers are currently fragmented and all of the movies slated to be released won't feature any of the team prominently.

Maybe a post-credits scene at the end of Black Panther where they all get together or something? Or a Nick Fury-esque scene where it's implied they've all gotten back together? Seriously, which movie will address this issue and how? Because if it isn't addressed, that's like 10 minutes needlessly added to the runtime of IW Part 1.

Both old Jarvis and Ultron were able to survive on the internet if their physical bodies were destroyed. Vison would clearly be weakened by the outcome for losing the mind gem, but his death would be the least permanent of all Avengers. I think he got killed multiple times in the comics.

That's fine, but it's just weird placement. If you don't know anything about BP it just feels like Martin Freeman showing up in some bizarrely overqualified cameo.

From what I've gathered, I have a feeling Hulk v Thor: Ragna of Rok will have them hopping around the Galaxy trying to stop Loki/Hela from destroying Asgard and succeeding by the end, only to arrive at Asgard 5 minutes until the end, at the same time Thanos is using the newly acquired power gem to literally rip Asgard in two with his bare hands to get the Tesseract. Cut to Black on Thor's face.

Makes the most sense with Odin dead/banished, and the choice for Waititi as a director to make a feel good movie that gives you a false sense of security to rip your heart out at the end.

That's how I'd do it, anyway.

Well the world security council or whatever they were called originally wanted Blonsky on the Avengers instead of the Hulk, who's incarceration was under Ross's jurisdiction.

Coulson did not want that at all, so he sent Tony Stark as the representative to convince Ross to hand Blonsky over, knowing that he would piss the general off so much he would refuse.

It was one of those shorts you see on the DVD's, it mostly had coulson and the shield agent that turned out to be working for hydra talking in a truckstop diner with a short cutaway to Ross in a bar where Stark suddenly appears.

Just watched it.
's ok.

It's captivating throughout, but fails to deliver anything meaningful beyond the awesome action. The most interesting thing about this movie will be how the next movie even goes on from here.

Spider-Man felt shoehorned, but I thought he was fun to watch, at least.

Black Panther was nice, I think, but was really struggeling to get the screen time he needed. He was almost a major player in this movie, but got the slightly short end of the stick.

It's all a bit crowded, but then the cast is massive. At least the villain didn't actually have a huge fuck-off plan too and just wanted to poke superheroes with sticks.

In the end, it just feels like reading an Avengers comic issue 15-20. It expects you to know tons of shit that's already established and then it just stops, "To Be Continued.", "You want to know what happens next?"

It's all nice in the meantime, but without solid payoff in the end, it's ultimately big heap of "generally ok".

In the original suit, he had exposed cables dangling off his helmet. Marvel designers struggled to consider removing it because in canon he would die if one of those cables snapped when he was in small form. They decided to keep it in, as it looks better and ant like.

But in Civil War they must have decided to remove the dangling cables now, as that is just too much of a silly impractical design for battle. The cables are now built into the suit entirely.

I liked it too, but there was definitely a satisfaction of seeing him pull the bar up with his finger.

Also, I assume he can now control his size more precisely, instead of just having "normal" and "small", because there were probably some inconsistencies in size before. Ants are really fucking small, and sometimes he may not be as small as he should. Not that I've noticed any, honestly.

>>82350117
Fair point. Would also be justified by Hank's recent motivation of trying to go to the microverse to get Jan. Also, punching a Stark in the face.

How does Antman's power work?

So I understand Scott retains his original weight and strength when he's small, hence able to knock out people in that form.

But what happens when he turns big? Shouldn't War Machine be able to fly away with him at the airport because he still only weights 80kg?
Why does he get more mass and increased proportional strength?

UpPyms and DownPyms are an over-simplification.

There are also StrongPyms and WeakPyms.

Going down means only using DownPyms (decrease size) but the strength keeps the same. It only needs UpPyms to go normal again.

Going up means using UpPyms AND StrongPyms, exactly to avoid what you are saying. Everything that goes up gets stronger to withstand its weight: the Ant and Thomas the engine. gong back down requires DownPyms and WeakPyms.

The names are bullshit made up by me, but Pym Particles do control "density", which really means "strength". In the comics itallows Vision to do his shit.

It is bullshit, but it's consistent bullshit.

You think he would WANT to trust an AI to do all his fighting for him? While he is still inside the suit? He was desperate, he probably wasn't willing to try to give away the control of the suit when issues could mean his own death. Losing control of your own powersuit makes you powerless.

I'm not really complaining that the movie actually managed to shake me.
It's just that it's nice to get reintroduced to the setting and welcomed back into this world. Winter Soldier does an amazing job of doing this.
Civil War feels like one giant second act.

It wastes no time on reestablishing anything and it wastes no time on winding down.
This movie had 0 time to waste because it needed to cram all these characters and several plotpoints into this movie.
I think I'm a little bit disappointed because Winter Soldier was so neat and focussed and great and a part of me expected a bit better from Civil War, despite the odds.

>>

Like you said, anything with Falcon and Bucky got major laughs. Their relationship was so subtle but well-done.

Spider-Man and Ant-Man were the clear crowd-pleasers, especially during the airport battle.

War Machine's crash, like you said, got a few gasps. Very impactful scene (no pun intended).

In addition there was:

>Vision's awkwardness scenes
>Hawkeye's reappearance
>Cap curling the helicopter
>"You don't deserve that shield!"
>Tony Stank

Wasn't he just a tired man who hated the Avengers?
He barely qualifies as a super villain. He's like an ordinary terrorist.

His master plan was a three-step plan. Step one was laying a bomb to incriminate a known fugitive criminal and step two was showing security footage to Iron Man.
Step three was suicide.

We don't even know if MCU Zemo is actually good at fighting.

The thing that bothered me the most with him was that they never mention Pym outside the "who are you?!" joke.
Scott probably just took the suit with him and I expected some "Oh god, Hank is going to kill me if he finds this out." line before or/and after the battle, especially after he was imprisoned and the suit taken from him.

>Scott probably just took the suit with him and I expected some "Oh god, Hank is going to kill me if he finds this out." line before or/and after the battle, especially after he was imprisoned and the suit taken from him.

I'd like to think he shrunk the suit and had a little ant take it away.

We won't really know what happens until Ant-man and the Wasp, which is 2 years away.

>i mean, if he almost killed war machine, what would happen with Sam???

Assuming Vision grazed his thrusters like he was trying to Sam actually would have been fine. He could have glided to the ground like Rhodes said or deployed his parachute like in WS because it was estbalished the Falcon pack had safety measures to keep the pilot safe if it was damaged in flight.

Where as the Iron Man suits become a falling several ton metal coffin if they lose power in flight.

This scene is cut very poorly:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMdfj62iC_g

Thus I can disagree, given the disclaimer in my last post, that the fights are all 10/10.
>>
>>82351659
Yeah, it doesn't really make a whole lot of sense why Hank would give the Wasp suit wings, but not Ant-Man. It's not like in the comics where Wasp's powers are from a different source. There is no practical reason why only one should get wings.
>>
>>82351700
He didn't just want to get the information from Bucky, he also wanted to activate him inside the UN and have him return to Siberia to lead Cap there. The plan would have proceeded, he just wouldn't have needed to ask Bucky about that one night.
>>
>>82351700
I think his plan went something like this.

1) Study the Avengers for a Year
2) Study the files leaked during The Winter Soldier
3) Huh, there's this encrypted file, and all it has on it is a date of a video recording. December...1991...say, that's the day that the Starks died in that car crash
4) But it was an accident! Why would they bury it under so...much...secre...no, could it be? It would be perfect, but, but I need to be sure!
5) Here's a Hydra agent! One of those involved with the Winter Soldier himself! I can "ask" him if my suspicions are correct. And if he doesn't answer, well, I'll just have to flush out Barnes himself to find out

He probably would have put the video up on the internet for the world to see. Bucky Barnes. Howling Commando. Friend to Captain America. Murdering Howard and Maria Stark.

That video alone would've been enough to destroy Tony and Steve's partnership.
>>
>>82351716
Having seen the film, I must say I didn't like the way the fights were shot. It was hard to read a lot of the movements.
>>
>>82351838
He specifically said that he would have to kill people and do a lot more nasty things if the agent didn't talk meaning if the agent did talk he wouldn't have to do those things.
>>
>>82351831
>>82351692
Scott: But Hank...why?
Pym: Because wings are for pussies, Scott.
Scott: But-but-the Wasp-Janet-Hope-!
Pym: Literally have pussies, Scott! They literally have pussies!
>>
>>82351816
>>82351885
You guys are killing me.
>>
>>82351694

I don't think it could work. The suits are really heavy, to the point of weighing a standard parachute down.

Even the Falcon pack needed to eject it's wings before deploying the chute in WS.
>>
>>82350189
>>82350224
That could have been just an extremely simplified answer Hank gave to Scott because he wouldn't understand the real explanation. Or maybe Hank isn't even sure what the particles actually do.
>>
ITT: Retards that never actually read the comic.
MCU ate the comic and Shat it right into your open mouths.
This was on par with Batman and Robin, one liners all over the place and so far removed for the real meanings IE The Registration Act Which is the reason Captain America became a "terrorist".
When I saw the previews I was like.... shit this might go back, it might be all about Bucky which is retarded, They wouldn't make this film about that would they? Naw they have been good so far.
This Movie was garbage for anyone that was a fan of the comic.
>>
>>82351986
The point is that even if you're the wildest most thrill-seekingest daredevil around, if you go up in an airplane you bring a chute.

Explain it away with some "hyper-pretensile adamantium laced fiber" parachute technology but the guy needs a failsafe that doesn't rely on power.

I can't believe some people here are stating that Cap was more powerful than Spidey in the film

He won the fight due to experience and focus (which Spiderman lacks), but he struggled stopping Bucky's punch with both arms, which was stopped by Spiderman with one hand like it was nothing.
The Captain might be a better fighter for now... but there's no question Spiderman is more powerful
