There are 3 or 4 different main, interlocking plot threads.The biggest one is Joyce/Becky, which is about Joyce, a girl from a heavily fundamentalist Christian area (think the Duggars), going to a fairly liberal college. She's forced to step outside her comfort zone and interact with non-Christians for pretty much the first time in her life, and she slowly changes and starts to question her beliefs. Beckie, her childhood friend, went to a Christian school, but soon discovered she's a lesbian. Fundamentalist Christian cults don't like lesbians, so drama ensued. Now she's traveling the same path as Joyce, but a lot faster. She's already decided everything she was taught as a kid is wrong, and that's causing a lot of friction with Joyce and her family. The comic is heavily based on the author's own experiences growing up in this kind of an area.

Walky/Sal is about two siblings, the favorite and the unfavorite. Everything comes easy for Walky, and his parents act like he can do no wrong. As a result, he's never really grown up, and enters college a child with no clue how to study or live on his own. His sister Sal is the opposite. She has a hard time learning the traditional way, so she's never gotten good grades, and her parents always favored her brother over her (possibly because she looks/acts blacker). A few years ago, she lashed out, robbed a store, and got sent to juvenile hall for it.

Amber (from the OP) grew up with an abusive father, and when Sal robbed that store years ago, she took Amber's boyfriend hostage. The traumatic experience basically broke Amber's mind in two and now she's batman with a split personality.

I'm seriously considering going forward with my Parody Comic of this trite. I'm about 2/3rds done with the first draft, and it's looking pretty good. There's obviously room for improvement, and it is by no means done (still need an artist if anyone is interested.) It started out as Sarah just pointing out how Joyce is kinda weird, because Willis gave her a weird personality where she's incapable of saying nice things about anything.

Then one time AG showed up, and Sarah was reminded of the almost-rape that happened to Joyce and was like "don't ask me for more Joyce stories, it's not fair to her." Then Jacob was like, it's all you can talk about, for example, "how's your day?" and Sarah was incapable of answering.

Then later she decided to try and dress super hot to attract Jacob away from her nemesis and had a nervous breakdown in class at the prospect of trying to flirt with him.

Basically she's gone from a distrustful misanthrope who acts nice to those around her to a dysfunctional social being. However, what Willis doesn't realize is that he's still the same kind of person, preachy, condescending, and judgmental. She can't have a redemption arc as it would mean Willis would have to examine himself and recognize his flaws. Or she'd be exactly like Willis is now, written without a shred of self-awareness.

I agree with this. I do think the way Willis has constructed the strip it's very strange. Ethan and Amber hooked up at prom, he discovered he was gay and then the idea is from that moment Amber was a perfect friend to him up until they got to college and then she needed space? If anything, she'd have gotten space right after prom, or after dealing with his family, but before the summer ended.
