Grow up. Cape comics are literally for kids, teenagers, and manchildren. I like cape comics but I'm not about to claim that they should be "taken seriously" because they shouldn't. They're cheap disposable escapism. The occasionally poignant or well-crafted cape comic doesn't change that, and the existence of Hellcat, USG, and Thor are in no way responsible for that fact.

Comics are a big, fantastic medium with plenty of artistic merit, but claiming that the medium can't be taken seriously because of a handful of bad cape comics is like saying that sculptures can't be taken seriously because Hasbro makes cheap toys or cinema won't be taken seriously as long as Adam Sandler and Michael Bay exist.

If you're so insecure that you've stopped reading comics entirely because you're worried that people will judge you for enjoying a medium that has some bad or infantile products, then that makes you seem more childish than the very comics you're railing against.

Road Warrior > Mad Max > Beyond Thunderdome > Fury Road.

The best thing to do would have been setting the movie between Max 1 and Max 2 (RW), but they instead pretend we're just further past all the other movies. Each of these outside of Fury very conveniently set up how civilization fell, wasted away, and started to rebuild. Fury Road fucks this up in many ways.

Max is on the edge. Civilization is falling apart and he's still on the coast trying to be a cop. We the mother fucking greatest car ever. Supplies are still plentiful and the ocean is still there.

Max 2 continues his journey into the wasteland a few years later after the bombs drop. Supplies in the wasteland are becoming scarce. The roaming gangs don't waste supplies as much just because they can. The fight for gas and anything else is very real. Even bullets are hard to come by. The oil pumper group use Max to get away and establish a new home on the coast near the ocean.

Beyond is like 15 years later. People have grouped back together in shitty shanty towns. An alternate fuel is being made. A class system exists once again. Elsewhere Max finds kinds in the middle of paradise and drags them into reality by getting them taken to what was Sydney. The oceans are all gone and the kids grow up as a new society living in the shell of the old world. Max kinda fucked them.

Fury Road adds: nothing. There's a town for related supply near each other with perfect fiefdoms. The waste gas, bullets, water, and people as much as needed to excess. We have an entire (while very cool) vehicle built to be a metal concert on wheels. What the living fuck?
