It's a shame, really. All these "I'm going to screenshot the same episode OP was for his meme magic" anons eventually got a lucky strike and the "game" of it all changed. I haven't posted in awhile, not too long, but not too recent compared to minutary passing. Just like to say that the dubs you all are getting mean nothing, mine had purpose, reason, something to pay attention to, you are all squabbling over it for the common 4chan game, mixed with "if I say such and such and get dubs, it is law" among other things, and that's simply not what was going on here.
Until my balanced was knocked off, the message was simply there's something dark in the matter of the series, it's not trying to do what it has said through interviews. It's got an aspect of it which none of you have seen yet, and it's not ready to be seen. Give it time, some aspects have been bluntly put on the screen for a few seconds, other times, just a pixel among the others. I have to wonder how things could have gone if I could have gotten this message out once more if the leveling of the dubs wasn't knocked off.
There's something very sinister in the series, and it's not what you think, what you think you know, or what you assume.

-- the thing is PPG is CN 'legacy' stuff.. You can tell they treat it as a BIG DEAL and that stifling atmosphere from the executive level probably is having a detrimental effect on the production. This probably accounts for the memes, the 4 writers every episode, the fact it looks more like the original series than the special that was poorly received but creatively was in the spirit of the original show even if it wasn't immediately obvious to a casual viewer because the designs of the girls were angular and a bit different
i can't get my head around all these animation mistakes though. The general inconsistency with style is one thing, but those uncropped images with rough lines on, missing mouths etc. Baffling

So is this the direction we're going with animation in the west? Does no one take it seriously at all anymore? What did we do wrong to not be a respected medium anymore? Why did standards drop so far down? Are people just too in love with the idea of personal style and art being objectively without flaw and having no requirements to completely drop fundamentals? Does anyone in the field even do it for the pure sake of animating anymore? Do people just want to throw their ideas from high school on television and execute them as if they were a webcomic?

A lot of the mid to high range technical artistry in the US gets poached by the video game industry because they're tech and they have more money to throw aroundcomparably.
Artists generally prefer to spend their time working on their own projects. In "the West" it's generally easier to work a day job and own a mid grade computer with an animation and graphics suite than to break into an incestuous and dying industry that is largely ignored critically. So the void has largely been filled by a slow but steady trickle of hobbyists who are unfortunately difficult to motivate into faster or more consistent work.
Don't act like the talent dried up you drama queen, children's shows produced in the service of a longstanding merchandising brand are not known for their artistic rigor. This one is rushed as fuck anyway. I'm sure if the artists had enough time they'd make something forgettably competent.

I can't read it, but if it's similar to other lists I've seen: The left side is a list of directors who worked on PPGZ. So you get a side-by-side comparison of each of the characters when each person was at the helm.
It's relatively consistent here, but on some shows it goes from really-good at the start when they are trying to push the show and then degrades into stick-figures as it gets more popular and into people's routines.
They started doing this with Toei cartoons because they're notorious for doing this. Some of their DBZ seasons started out with water-colored backgrounds and hand-shading and ended with paper cutouts mashing against each other.
